I know that you have said that the plastic sitz tubs that go on your toilet are bad but in the week since I’ve started using it, I have seen a definite improvement in my fissure pain. I was in agony with every bowel movement. I tried all of the suggestions from my doctor to keep my stool soft and still had intense pain and bleeding. I figured that the sitz bath couldn’t hurt and after a week I’ve been able to have a bowel movement with just a bit of pain. I’m 64 years old with knee replacements so having a bath isn’t an option. I’ve tried the shower method but with my knees I can only hold that position for a few minutes. I’ve also found a good video about reverse Kegal exercises and I think that has helped too. My doctor prescribed a compound ointment but the pharmacy hasn’t prepared it yet. I might not even need it if things keep improving. I’ve been struggling with this pain for almost 3 months. Today I finally feel human again. I will find your video about the plastic sitz baths and watch it. Now I’m curious about why I shouldn’t use it. LOL

Ok I watched your video and realized that you were referring to using them for hemorrhoids. I purchased the exact sitz bath that you showed first in your video. It actually has a larger opening than the toilet seat does because you put the seat up and the sitz bath is placed directly on the toilet. I do have one hemorrhoid but surprisingly it has not been bothering me at all. All I can say is that right now it has been a lifesaver for me. ❤️
I do love your videos though! Thank you for taking the time to share your information!

To anyone reading! Don’t be embarrassed go get checked!! RUclips and Google can only help so much, but remember you’re no doctor! I dealt with the excruciating pain for a week straight thinking it would go away and it only grew, went to the ER and they sent me for emergency surgery! Best decision of my life, pain instantly gone, i was actually able to walk and lay down without crying. Swallow your pride and see a doctor! It’s worth it.
Thank you Dr. Chung you rlly made my process easier and helped me mentally fr, i was so scared.

I like to lay on my bed with a heating pad after bowel movement. It relaxes my back and bottom end. Even just 10 minutes helps. She called my OB, the OB called me on her personal phone and got me in that afternoon to lance it. I'm on my second Perianal absess surgery, I find it best to use a clean tub with 4-6 inches of warm water with a bit of epsom salt. i take my phone with me and rest it on a small chair or stool, some nice comedy or movie passes the time swiftly. When you're done using the bathroom, or #2, I use my shower wand to do the cleanup my wipes don't, especially if you are tender down there. after cleaning downstairs area spray down the tub, to clean, and then get your sits bath going. preperation is key so you dont kill yourself in the bathroom, so have your towel, slip mats, epsom, and table/stool, phone/tablet and all Sitz bath helpers ready. Safe and swift recovery to all!

@yourfriendlyproctologist Hi doctor, I am almost 2 weeks post-op from a simple fistulotomy and it says I should be doing 3-4 sitz baths a day for 15-20 minutes each. To me this seems abit excessive and my surgeon says its for comfort only, will doing these sitz baths help speed up the healing process or should I just stick with normal showers for hygiene and using warm bidet after bowel movements? I'll only continue with the sitz baths if they truly speed up the healing process. Thanks.

Please make a short video on best sleep position if you have a flare up or please respond to my post. I’m not sure if side or back straight on the bed is better.

Hi Doc, thank u for this useful and amazing content, I had a fistula removed about 2 weeks ago now, (my surgeon advised its completely removed) is it normal to have hardness and swelling in that area of the wound?

Hello Dr., thanks for all these videos. They sure help. In one of the comments below, you mention a hot tub. Would a public one in a gym be ok? If so, how long do you recommend sitting in the hot tub?

    Hi
Doctor we cannot have tub bath in our bathroom because they are small. I purchased sitz bath on Amezon and in the beginning I felt good but after some days I realized it is actually making things bad so stopped using them even though I was sitting for 10 minutes only.

Hello doc. Loving your videos. Hit the subscription in the 1st video itself. I had a query. I've got a serious problem with sitz bath. I do my sitz bath in a baby pool kind of tub. But being a female my urinary tract is exposed to the bacteria in water and causing painful UTI. please talk about this in your next video as it is a gender specific problem and must have been a cause of unavoidable pain for many.

What do you recommend for someone with full ileostomy, no colon. Not a candidate for surgery. Complex fistulas and painful abscesses breaking thru buttock cheek. My docs don't even seem to understand ileostomy issues, period!

My Dr. recommended a sitz to help with my anus irritation due to radiation treatment. Week 6 and it's the inside that is really damaged. I was going to buy one today then I found this vid. I will do a little more research before purchasing. I think I may just use a heavy cotton washcloth with lukewarm water after the shower. Thanks for the info.
