Six weeks in Australia, including 19 days on a cruise ship. We just recently retired, make hay while the sun shines, so we also have 8,7 and 9 day cruises elsewhere.
Thanks for the news! Regarding the new Mexican port fees, my wife and I will be avoiding any cruise with a Mexican stop. Some might say that it’s not that much, but it’s a total money-grab. Hard nope.
Thanks for this info. I see so many travel channels with titles “important new rules” etc and it ends up being click bait. I knew when I saw you having that kind of title that it would actually be legit important info. Many thanks for your too the point videos. I really appreciate your channel.
Hi Yana! That is great! I started to mention that most people right now are getting their approvals very quickly. But, I did not know if that would change a few months from now once it was an official requirement and more submissions were in the system. So glad it was a smooth and fast process for you!
Yes my husband and I both have had our REAL ID’s for a few years now and I’m so glad too. It baffles me though that we need REAL ID’s when there are million of “others” coming over and don’t need an ID at all. Thanks Jason for all your wonderful information!
I am taking a cruise that ends in the UK in January. The UK ETA process was easy and I received approval in just one minute. The total cost was $13.10 USD.
Starting July 1, 2025, Mexico will implement a $42 USD immigration fee for each cruise ship passenger arriving at its ports. This fee applies per passenger per port call, meaning if your cruise itinerary includes multiple stops at different Mexican ports, the fee will be charged for each port visited. For example, if your cruise stops at two Mexican ports, each passenger would incur a total of $84 in fees.
I still don't really see the whole point of the Real ID thing it seems like just another way for them to get more money out of people. How does it verify who you are more than your Drivers License already does?
Thanks - love your videos. Question about port fees - the $42 extra per person - is that per cruise that visits Mexico or per Mexican port? In other words, if we stop at 2 Mexican ports is that an extra $84 per person?
Thanks for the info, Jason and Kellie! We are currently booked on RCCL's Wonder of the Seas leaving FLA on June 29, 2025. Looks like we will be some of the first passengers paying this new tax in Mexico, unfortunately. We'll see if this gets pushed back or if RCCL changes the itinerary.
The Mexican $42 fee will also apply to crew members that don't get off the ships. Guess who will pay for that extra cost. Hint: It won't be the cruise line.
Sounds like it might be time to stop traveling since this is beginning to feel like an interrogation process or more problems then its worth to travel outside your city let alone your country.
Become Juan or Mohammad -after throwing away your ID and you can travel anywhere. They will also give you monthly income, food cards, and free housing.
If you can answer this question in 25, we will go on MSC World America, which will have multiple stops in Mexico. Would we have to pay this 40$ fee in each port? i really dont know thanks
I was bummed out years ago when I heard that the EU will be implementing this new process until I realized that we require this stuff for those entering the US so I don't have issues with it and the price is very reasonable. Now Mexico, on the other hand, is being foolish as that port fee would negatively impact the economy of the port cities that rely on cruise revenue ... This will cause less ships to sail to Mexican ports given the backlash against this.
This “stuff” is not required if you break US law and come in illegally. Then you are showered with free airfare- free housing, free food, and a job if you want one.
Thanks for the updates! With the large cruise industry push back and from their own citizens, I'll bet Mexico will change their stance on the excess port fees before July. Just my humble opinion 😊.
I think it's a position in response to trumps loud posturing about dumping the free treaded agreement and imposing Tariffs on the previous 2 trading partners.
Big vote for Apple Air Tags. My daughter' s luggage was "lost" last month; great that I could tell the airline where it was! This was the second time since we got the air tags that they have been VERY helpful. The other time, some idiot took my bag at the airport. At least he was honest enough to call me, but before he did, I'd been able to locate it thru the air tag and notify the airline....when he called, he asked "where I wanted to meet to get it back." I suggested that he return it to the airline's luggage office. I left out the part of "so they can cancel the police notification they'd put on it." Nothing was taken and I have no reason to not believe that it "looks identical to his bag" except that the tags on it all had MY name. Maybe he can't read English....but if that's the case, how did he manage to call me?
Thanks for the information. Looks like we will be traveling world wide less due to all the hoops different countries want everyone to jump through and your personal information into more databases. Glad we are of the older generation where most of our future traveling will be US only.
Good to know! We are waiting on my husband's passport to arrive so we can apply for the UK ETA. I do have a question: we are cruising out of Dover to Northern Ireland, Iceland, and Scotland. Should we go ahead and get the European Union version even though the rollout date hasn't been announced?
I had no idea I already had Real ID but apparently I do! Do you know: With the new ETIAS registration, are there restrictions for people with criminal histories like there is for Australia?
The Mexico thing isn’t really a visa or a similar it’s more of a port tax: a tax added to your trip. So no it’s not good for a year of re entries, whether a single port is taxed or the tax only applied to when you enter at first port and exit at last port seems to unclear.
Real ID was post 9/11 Security changes, shoot Implementation has been delayed many times now 20yrs so far. Really no reason wait any longer now that all the States have finally Compliant and updated their Drivers Licences, this was complete 4yrs ago. I've always had an Enhanced DL and Military ID that I used for Flying and Open Circuit Repo Cruises. Did get Passport right before CV for World Cruise, 3 of them were canceled. Soon going on Cruises from US to EU to Africa, Asia, Australia then Flying back to US so almost a World Cuise
So I’m guessing the Mexico tax is a one time tax and not per port. It got confusing since it says for each visit, and since cruise ship’s technically leave Mexico waters after each port, they would be visiting Mexico again each port and accruing the tax every time.
Our whole family has had real ID for 6 years now. It was supposed to go into effect in 2020. It's been delayed enough. With real ID, we shouldn't need to show our birth certificate. That's the whole point of real ID.
Real ID implementation is ridiculous. This became the law in 2005 and was supposed to be active in 2008. Our government is so efficient they can’t even get drivers license identification figured out in over 20 years. The fact that they’re asking for another delay, just highlights the ridiculousness and inefficiency of government employees.
Love you guys and your channel. But I don't like the Mic in front of you. And the signature intro music needs to come back. No matter where we are in the house, when we here that music. We know it's time to pay attention. Just one subscriber's opinion. See you next time!
Ah yes, Real ID. Enacted in the wake of 9/11, supposed to take effect in 2008, has only been delayed 17 years, and MAY be delayed AGAIN until May of 2027. So don't count on it going into effect next year yet.
20 seconds in, you put the beep of a smoke detector in. That sound drives our dog crazy which irritates us for hours. We watch your content daily. But if you don't get rid of the smoke detector beeps, we will have to stop watching and unsubscribe. Smoke detector beeps get peoples' attention, but not in a good way.

Six weeks in Australia, including 19 days on a cruise ship. We just recently retired, make hay while the sun shines, so we also have 8,7 and 9 day cruises elsewhere.
MSC Yacht Club in March.. can’t wait!!
Cruising in the Retreat, side by side on the Summit and on the Celebrity Xcel in December 2025!
Cruise in January 2025.
Thanks for the news! Regarding the new Mexican port fees, my wife and I will be avoiding any cruise with a Mexican stop. Some might say that it’s not that much, but it’s a total money-grab. Hard nope.
especially since it's getting more and more sketchy to be in most places in Mexico! If they can't keep it safe, why charge so much?!
Thanks for this info. I see so many travel channels with titles “important new rules” etc and it ends up being click bait. I knew when I saw you having that kind of title that it would actually be legit important info. Many thanks for your too the point videos. I really appreciate your channel.
Thanks for your kinds words! Much appreciated!
I already applied for the UK ETA, it was approved within 1 min.😅
Thank you for keeping us updated ))
Thanks for the info! I’m doing a Transatlantic Repositioning Cruise in April 2025 ending in Dover. Glad to know it’ll be easy.
Mine, too.
Hi Yana! That is great! I started to mention that most people right now are getting their approvals very quickly. But, I did not know if that would change a few months from now once it was an official requirement and more submissions were in the system. So glad it was a smooth and fast process for you!
Good to read, I will apply, hope easy to get photo attached.
Won’t step foot in the UK. Most of Europe is finished.
In short time, clear, informative, simple all information needed
Cruise for my birthday. Count down less than 40 days
Yes my husband and I both have had our REAL ID’s for a few years now and I’m so glad too. It baffles me though that we need REAL ID’s when there are million of “others” coming over and don’t need an ID at all.
Thanks Jason for all your wonderful information!
It’s crazy isn’t it. The genuine citizens have to jump through hoops.
@Kaycee yessss indeed it is!!
I'm all set for my cruise to Amber Cove and Grand Turk in late January. Thanks for the informative video, Jason...and Merry Christmas!!
Great information, thanks for sharing
I love that apple is doing the airtag share thing...now if SAMSUNG will just get on board!
Thank you for keeping us all informed 😊
Thank you Molly! You are very kind!
So far planning a cruise in Nov 2025, hopefully additional cruises for 2025 🛳🛳
Thanks for all cruising updates
I am taking a cruise that ends in the UK in January. The UK ETA process was easy and I received approval in just one minute. The total cost was $13.10 USD.
Thank you for all the updates!
A link for the European ETA requirement in the description would have been helpful. 3:04

crazy huh?! Jason addressed this in previous videos. :)
I have booked a Transpacific cruise-Vancouver to Singapore🎉🎉🎉
Always the best cruise content! Keep up the great work 😁
Hi Dave! Thank you so much my Friend!
Does the Mexico fee for all ports or for each Mexican port you stop at?
EACH port, as I understand it. 1 port, $42, 3 ports, $126...
Great info as always thank you
I heard that Mexico was delaying that new fee.
Hi Mark! Yes Sir. They have not delayed the implementation until July 1st, 2025.
Good information! Thank you for sharing this information.
Another excellent video.
Traveling abroad is now more complicated
we will not travel on any cruise that goes to mexico even we love mexico so much. how sad!!!
Thanks for the reminder about ETA. I'm going to England in April
Looking forward to our first time sailing on the Icon in February for my birthday! Thank you Jason!!
Hello my Friend!! It is a wonderful ship. I am sure you will enjoy. Appreciate you Brother!
Everyone trying to nickle and dime you, absolutely ridiculous!
Jan /Taiwan-Singapur Cruise and Apr-May/Genua - Genua Roundtrip Cruise
worth noting is that one can use the Veteran Health ID Card at TSA checkpoints.
Yes, very true!
Great Information!
Thanks Steve!
Thanks for all the great information! Can you give me a link for the UK entry? Thanks
I still don't really see the whole point of the Real ID thing it seems like just another way for them to get more money out of people. How does it verify who you are more than your Drivers License already does?
Way to make $$$$ especially if you walk into this country illegally and board any plane with no ID at all, doesn't seem right .....
Is there a website for U.K.electronic travel authorization?
Three for us.. March, May (Japan), and November back to back Carribean 😊😊
Love your show.
Thanks - love your videos. Question about port fees - the $42 extra per person - is that per cruise that visits Mexico or per Mexican port? In other words, if we stop at 2 Mexican ports is that an extra $84 per person?
We are looking forward to an Eastern Caribbean cruise in May of 2025.
Very helpful 😊
I have booked 2 European cruises for the summer. After the cruises,, as every summer, go to Italy for a couple of weeks!
Will probably book Virgin Voyages in May and counting the days till Star of the Seas in December
Very helpful thank you
You are very welcome. I appreciate you. Have a great day!
The Mexican $42 fee will also apply to crew members that don't get off the ships. Guess who will pay for that extra cost. Hint: It won't be the cruise line.
dont worry, NCL will charge double 🤣
Great info
Thank you!
2 cruises to look forward to, a 10 day in June to the Eastern Caribbean on the Carnival Venezia and a 7 day to Bermuda on the MSC! Meraviglia
Is the new Mexico fee per port or per cruise?
Per port
Currently working on a cruise to Antarctica in Dec 2025.
Good thing I’m not a fan of going to Mexico
Sounds like it might be time to stop traveling since this is beginning to feel like an interrogation process or more problems then its worth to travel outside your city let alone your country.
Become Juan or Mohammad -after throwing away your ID and you can travel anywhere. They will also give you monthly income, food cards, and free housing.
Where does one start the process for the UK travel doc?
Hi Jack! Google "UK ETA" and the website for the application will come up in your search options. Hope that helps. Have a great day!
Thank you guys for all your info! Looking forward to all the cruises we have booked thru 2025 into 2026.
Thanks!!
If you can answer this question in 25, we will go on MSC World America, which will have multiple stops in Mexico. Would we have to pay this 40$ fee in each port? i really dont know thanks
Good job!
Thanks Marshie!
What if your cruise has more than one stop in a Mexican city? Is it $42 per stop?
Per PORT whether you get off or stay on ship!
Why are they making it harder to travel ?
They aren’t making it harder to travel they are just trying to shake down foreigners for more money. It’s always about $$$
Revenue collection
Times are changing, fraud is rampant and countries are getting more aggressive with their rivals.
I was bummed out years ago when I heard that the EU will be implementing this new process until I realized that we require this stuff for those entering the US so I don't have issues with it and the price is very reasonable. Turning 70 next year. I just want a long relaxing cruise.
Is the Mexico $42 fee per person per port, or just a single fee for all the Mexican stops? Asking for a friend! 😁👍
Hey, Jason, I was the first person thumbs up... anyway great information
Hi Mary! I am so thankful for you! I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!
The beauty of being a dual citizen is that the ETIAS fee doesn't apply to me. In Europe I'm German, pretty much everywhere else I'm Canadian.
I missed my question of the day! Oh wait! I see it!
Thanks for the updates!
With the large cruise industry push back and from their own citizens, I'll bet Mexico will change their stance on the excess port fees before July. Just my humble opinion 😊.
Hi Donna! I hope so. I appreciate you. Have a wonderful day!
I think it's a position in response to trumps loud posturing about dumping the free treaded agreement and imposing Tariffs on the previous 2 trading partners.
😂🤣😂🤣
Nice job from uk
Taking family in May 2025 to ensenada Mexico thank you for the information
Big vote for Apple Air Tags. My daughter' s luggage was "lost" last month; great that I could tell the airline where it was! Are you all settled down now in your new home? I don't envy you, but you are much younger than me. Wishing you and Kelly the best. Don H Ocala FL.
Does that AA alert go off for those with military retired IDs or CACs? Normally, they allow Veterans and their family members to board ahead.
Thanks for the information. Looks like we will be traveling world wide less due to all the hoops different countries want everyone to jump through and your personal information into more databases. Glad we are of the older generation where most of our future traveling will be US only.
Cruise around Japan in November.
Sorry Jason I meant Greenland/ Canada cruise. Are the new travel requirements needed to do this cruise?
Question do Canadians need this new travel requirement if cruising to Canada/ New England in August of 2025
Good to know! We are waiting on my husband's passport to arrive so we can apply for the UK ETA. I do have a question: we are cruising out of Dover to Northern Ireland, Iceland, and Scotland. Should we go ahead and get the European Union version even though the rollout date hasn't been announced?
2 more cruises for us. 🤩🤩🤩
No midshow checkin 😢
Hi Jay! Sorry, not for this one since it wasn't a typical "latest cruise news updates" type of show. I hope you have a great day!
Cruise news, for cruises with Port of calls in UK. Does the requirement still exist.
Cruising!
Is the Mexican port tax increase per port or her voyage?
Question if you already have a booked cruise to mexico after july 2025 and you already paid in full for it will it still be taxed and how would I pay
wonder if these new travel rules apply if someone turns up in a rubber dingy to the UK??
Nope
Hey Jason I thought Mexico postponed the fee? And I think it’s time the US creates some kind of fee and get in on this action lol
Bottom line is countries all want more money. Taxes, they call them fees, are their preferred method.
I had no idea I already had Real ID but apparently I do! Do you know: With the new ETIAS registration, are there restrictions for people with criminal histories like there is for Australia?
Japan
Just more and more ways to just drain peoples pockets!!!!
one love. Jason 🇯🇲
23 night b2b Celebrity Europe after 4 days in London
Digital ID should be outlawed and banned. Not all of us want to participate in a technological dystopia.
hahhaa, yer online- it's too late.
@sarapugh6700 miles of difference twixt the two youngster. Also a difference between mandatory and voluntary. Distinctions I'm sure are lost on you
If on a cruise to both Cozumel and Costa Maya, $42 or $84?
$84 even if you stay on ship. It’s per port!
Does on payment of $42 cover all of your visits to Mexico, say, within one year? Or do you pay every time you cross the land, sea or air border?
It says each visit, but needs clarification on if say a cruise stops at numerous Mexican ports if they get charged per port or if it’s once per trip.
The Mexico thing isn’t really a visa or a similar it’s more of a port tax: a tax added to your trip. So no it’s not good for a year of re entries, whether a single port is taxed or the tax only applied to when you enter at first port and exit at last port seems to unclear.

So… more government fees (extortion) just to travel.
Even if that country isn’t your destination, or even if you don’t disembark from a ship.
A passport is a better idea anyway if you ever leave the USA
So I’m guessing the Mexico tax is a one time tax and not per port. It got confusing since it says for each visit, and since cruise ship’s technically leave Mexico waters after each port, they would be visiting Mexico again each port and accruing the tax every time.

Finally they paying tax in Mexico cruisers. Long overdue. Dont tag your luggage its just a way to track you more.
