I did that to a coworker 5 years ago. I got to work at 6 am on Christmas Eve to pull it off. Also blocked off his cubicle door with wrapping paper so he had to unwrap his cubicle just to get to his desk.
The scary thing is that just 4 yrs ago a team of people agreed this interior decor was a great idea and a great look...... I literally just couldn't sail on that. Goodness gracious.
"And I hoped I wouldn't feel claustrophobic" Is it just me or does the wallpaper somehow make it seem even more claustrophobic than my brain knows it is? I know its not a HUGE room but that pattern makes it feel even smaller than it is.
I've had a couple of those in my lifetime and they aren't a fun experience. I never thought of the decor as a possible trigger. I'm sorry that you get them.
As a person who loves seeing things that most people don't when travelling (quirky stops, weird events, etc.) being at water level would be a blast. Seeing the stuff growing on the dock walls and the occasional crab walk by would be awesome.
Wow now that's quite a cabin design! Shame about the ineffective cabin blinds / fixed beds but looks like a river cruise I'd like to try! Excellent video as usual Emma :)
I can still see the patterns even after finishing the vid 🤣 - as always, another awesome vid, Ms Emma - I do have a suggestion about the hot weather - get yourself a personal cooling fan that you can easily charge up, it kinda looks like a headphone you wear around neck - it helped me immensely on my trips to Southeast Asia 😊
You were incredibly diplomatic about the decor of the room. I am not sure I know anyone who could put up with it and it is incredible to think that a reputable company thought that was the best thing to do. On the upside, during the night with the lights off and your eyes closed it won't be so bad.just the he'll of waking up to it in the morning.
"We've over ordered the wall paper, we'll have lots of it left...." three hours later.... "where's it gone???...." "dada! problem solved". That cabin wallpaper must be the first circle of hell.
Not even if it was just $1 per person per room. That wall covering is untenable. Just looking at it makes me nauseous, but then I am someone who is challenged with sensory overload of which that room is nothing but
6:23 .. These are simply called "Upholstery Tacks" or sometimes "Carpet Tacks" .. They are functional as the name implies, physically holding the fabric to the wall ... And OH!! :Another pretty dress!! ... It suits you well :)
The pattern in that cabin is something else. It is even on the back of the closest doors 😂. I personally think that little window is pretty cool looking.
I hate, hate, HATE all the patterns in that room! Oh, did I mention that I hate it? This ship definitely looked better before it was refurbished! They totally changed it from classy and elegant, to some tacky clusterfuck that really looks like if migraine was a room
I went in a cruise with my wife and we had a cabin down by the waterline on the Med, I liked the view down there, the water sloshing over the porthole was quite relaxing.
Wow, those fabric walls were a DELIBERATE choice in 2020?! Can't believe you couldn't even get relief from all the craziness by looking at the ceiling. Maybe that's why these staterooms are underwater -- that way they know you can't throw yourself overboard when it become too much.
These river cruises are so expensive but the whole point is seeing the scenery and I would not want to have that little window. I don’t think it’s worth going at all if you can’t get a decent view. Unfortunately, they are all out of my price line.
"Upholstery nails are more and more an element of design." said the manufacturers. 😊 I enjoyed being taken on that river cruise ship and sail through the lagoon. 😊
Oh my... the pattern! 😳 I would find it nice for maybe a throw pillow or even the curtains but... sometimes less is more! It wouldn't be to my taste, but I'm sure it is to someone's taste! Was still fun to see, though! Thanks, Emma!
Oh wow. That wallpaper is the last thing you need with a hangover. I have seen the You tube clip of the collision. Hope you enjoyed it anyway. Robbie x
We have only done 1 river cruise. All the others were sea cruises. We really loved it. It was with Riviera cruises. We were on the lower deck, but the water never came over the windows. It might not have been as "posh", but it was not austere. It was lovely. It was definitely one of my favourite cruises. If it were not for the fact that river cruises cost about twice sea cruises, I would go on more. Looking at your review, it looked to me more like they were giving you some "luxury" but missing some basics. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of your review.
I don't understand why you would sleep "upside down" when you had separate bedding. Personally I would rather risk waking up staring into my dad's eyeballs to getting kicked in the face. The wallpaper explosion would be a big nope for me, though, and I'm not even prone to migraines. I can't imagine why they would consider the redesign to be an upgrade 🙈
I wonder if the crazy decor was some attempt at "Venetian Baroque" theme - ornate and ostentatious, think the traditional Masquerade ball. I don't think it works in a small room though, and its far too much to use the pattern on every surface. Would be OK for a feature wall, but it needs some plain space to take the pressure off. It would do my head in !. I would also expect blinds that practically function, and proper separate twin beds.
I think that pattern is like a tactic of the cruise line to turn people off from booking the "cheaper" cabins, especially since there are only a handful of them to begin with.
Blimey, that's er... busy! Was unlimited Migraleve included in the fare? Did it mess with your depth perception at all? Got visions of you reaching for the door handle and it's still 3ft away 😂😂
That pattern looks so English to me! Carpet in the bathroom, that kind of vibe. Now imagine the interior decorator had applied some variation, and at least one wall without pattern. Alternatively the company could have hired some actual artists and let them do mural and/or ceiling paintings. Plenty of underemployed, talented painters around, you can probably pluck them from behind their easels on St Marco plaza.
I did a uniworld cruise in russia about twenty years ago. We had a cabin in about the same location as your cabin on this cruise. It had one very annoying feature. It was apparently located over some heavy duty machinery that they would use going through the docks. And it sounded like the ship was running aground.
The only thing that makes sense is 1. They are hiding something terrible underneath in the worst way possible 2. Designer is blind 3. This is some sort of covert test on the mental impacts of excessively claustrophobic designs
The pattern would really trigger migraines in me. I once stood behind a woman wearing a really tight paisley pattern and ended up being bed ridden for 2 days.
The interior designer need to have his/her eyes and mind checked. That amount of patterns in such a small space is chaos inducing. 😂 Think the person is going for an ancient palace room vibe? But those places are spacious, this cabin by comparison is like a broom closet.
I think the pattern in the cabin has burnt into my monitor...or my eyes !It looks like when my auntie went mad with the fablon in her kitchen around 1983
Not a great fan of the wall coverings on your cabin, but my CDO (that’s OCD in alphabetical order) is having major problems at 4:24 because they didn’t match the pattern on the bathroom door to the adjacent wall, and then at 7:29 they managed to line up the pattern vertically between the windows, but it off horizontally again - maybe it “matches the bathroom door” but I doubt it! Cadbury and Lindt, maybe I can forgive the decor 😋😋😋
Interesting, but seems pricey. For the normal price you can get a ship-within-a-ship experience on a normal cruise ship and have a LOT more included, not to mention a much bigger cabin with a balcony. I guess it fills a niche market, because if you want to see those specific cities/towns while on a luxury cruise, then you don't have much choice 🙂
Is this your definition of elegant? Let me know 😂🥰 To find out what we got up to outside the cabin, check out this video next: ruclips.net/video/1BwrwdVWSDI/видео.htmlsi=1DRpjZ0XHfxK1nsD 😁👌

It's not my idea of elegance. In fact, while I don't suffer from claustrophobia, the design in a small cabin would make me feel rather closed in.
My lord, that wallpaper is hideous.
youEmmaCruises are myGlennMoon definition of elegant
Hellscape.
Nope, nope, nope. that decor would drive me nuts! lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
That wallpaper would drive me mad
Haha! ;)
I agree beautiful in small portions/ accident wall. Crazy in large amounts!😂
It's not very calming. That's for sure
I mean…it’s literally everywhere! Yikes!
It's like a dodgy designer gave his grandma the Design contract and pocketed the other Millions
The cabin looks like one of the those pranks where they put wrapping paper on everything in a room
^^ BEST COMMENT 😂😂😂😂😂😂
🤣
🤣🤣🤣😂🤣
lol this is spot on
I did that to a coworker 5 years ago.
And then paid good money to buy it!
Italian! The Berlusconi school of interior design.
Grandma*
Think my grandma would have better taste 😂
The old decor was much better then the current pattern
"And I hoped I wouldn't feel claustrophobic"
Is it just me or does the wallpaper somehow make it seem even more claustrophobic than my brain knows it is? I know its not a HUGE room but that pattern makes it feel even smaller than it is.
Just what I was thinking. 😮
This wallpaper salesman must have a hell of a pitch!
That room looks like something from The Shining! 🙀
Redrum…
I think the corridors before the redesign was a wee bit reminiscent of the shining too
My absolute first thought when I saw this nasty design: Horror movie. So The Shining is very fitting👍
That pattern would do my head in.🤯
as a fellow ocular-migraine sufferer, I would go absolutely mad staying in that patterned room
Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Agreed. I would be able to tell when one of my migraines was starting.
I've had a couple of those in my lifetime and they aren't a fun experience. I never thought of the decor as a possible trigger. I'm sorry that you get them.

Yay!! Somebody else that enjoys the quirky side of life like I do!! 🤗😁😀✌
Yess!! I loved that. Occasionally a duck!!
Crosses out Uniworld for future river cruises. Thanks for the warning, Emma.
"I don't have words to describe the padding?". I do ... VULGAR - VULGAR- VULGAR!!!! YUK YUK YUK!
Wow now that's quite a cabin design! Shame about the ineffective cabin blinds / fixed beds but looks like a river cruise I'd like to try! Excellent video as usual Emma :)
I'd looooooooooooooove to see the biggest suites so please do! 😂🥳🥰
Why does it enrage me that they insisted on using more of that pattern for blinds….that didn’t work?!?
The old decor was lovely, the new decor makes my eyes ache. Thanks for the video Emma!
Thats totally weird, you actually can its emblazoned on our brain
I always check the box for rooms where you can wash your feet whilst at the toilet. Thanks for the info!
You were incredibly diplomatic about the decor of the room. Nail head trim on the upholstered walls!
"We've over ordered the wall paper, we'll have lots of it left...." three hours later.... "where's it gone???...." "dada! problem solved". That cabin wallpaper must be the first circle of hell.
“Should we wallpaper the beds too?….No, that would be too much. BUT we do need blinds.”
I get "shining" vibes of that decor
Those 70s pants of yours were calming and serene in comparison.
😂😂😂😂
Not even if it was just $1 per person per room. That wall covering is untenable. Just looking at it makes me nauseous, but then I am someone who is challenged with sensory overload of which that room is nothing but

Or nailhead trim (:
If you could paint a picture of a migraine, I suspect it would look like the decor in your room! How weird, now you’ve mentioned migraines 😂
The pattern in that cabin is something else. It is even on the back of the closest doors 😂.
I personally think that little window is pretty cool looking.
Thank you for the river cruise videos. I love them!
Love your reviews and accent, thanks and keep posting!
7:37 even the blinds 😳 wow
And the INSIDE of the wardrobes.
12:02 Fish! 🐟 I get those visual /ocular migraines too but I rarely get a headache afterwards.
Another great, comprehensive review, thank you!
I guess I love how that patterened paper even extended inside the wardrobe doors, too?
Pretty full on!
Love being early to watch your awesome cruise videos!
Yay!! Thanks so much. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Honestly, that padding and the fact that at least half the room is below the waterline all the time, your cabin was probably the coolest on the ship.
As always, Emma, your travelogues are excellent. Afraid I must agree with other comments as to the wall papering in your cabin…Ugghh! 😂😂
I hate, hate, HATE all the patterns in that room! Oh, did I mention that I hate it?
This ship definitely looked better before it was refurbished! They totally changed it from classy and elegant, to some tacky clusterfuck that really looks like if migraine was a room
These videos are one my favorite ways to chill out after a long day driving the city transit coach all day. Thanks. :)
Awwhh, Thanks so much 🥹❤️
I've seen you post pics/video of your cabin several times now and I still can't get over the hideousness of it!
I like the previous design, another great review!! on bucket list!!
Submariners would love that cabin .
MAYBE!! 😂😂😂
Your cabin looks like an escape room with that wallpaper
Another great video. Thanks Emma.
Emma, I dare you to make a dress out of that pattern. Oh, even better, take the cruise again wearing it 😂
Then she could be a stowaway and not get caught.
Fabulous review Emma and happy holidays to you and your family 💚❤️❤️❤️❄️🛳️💚💚💚💚❤️🌨️🌨️🌨️🎁🛳️🎅🏻
Aaaaa I’ve never been this early! Absolutely love these cabin showcase videos Emma!
Yay!! Thanks so much. Love making them. Appreciate it. 🥳
@@EmmaCruiseswho chose that paper?
Oh dear...looking out your cabin window is like looking at the window of my clothes washer during a washing cycle.
You could not pay me enough to stay in that room. Uniworld will not be seeing me as a guest!
Well, it's very thoughtful of them to pad the rooms beforehand in case the wallpaper pattern drives you crazy!
Those pattern pants were the best!!
Oh my... the pattern!
Robbie x
I hope that those water level windows have good rubber gaskets to seal them!
Beat me too this comment 😂😂
We have only done 1 river cruise. All the others were sea cruises. We really loved it. It was with Riviera cruises. We were on the lower deck, but the water never came over the windows. That decor was crazy, no thank you❤
That room is like a bad time travel back to the 70's. It looked so much better before
Padded wallpaper in the bedroom? Only thing missing is the strait jacket.
That wallpaper is the stuff of nightmares LOL....and being BELOW water-level LOL I would be unable to sleep
Oh my.... this is so funny! Glad you weren't on a super long cruise.
I would go out of my mind with that wallpaper.
I could never enjoy cruising in that room. The water wouldn't bother me but the hellish decor would.
The windows sometimes are called “swan level” because you can actually see swans swimming by.
Designed in 2020?!?! By the ghost of the Duchess of Windsor, presumably. 🤭
Ostentatious use of upholstery for walls and ceilings was once a sign of wealth.
I would never get over this
I don't understand why you would sleep "upside down" when you had separate bedding. Personally I would rather risk waking up staring into my dad's eyeballs to getting kicked in the face. The wallpaper explosion would be a big nope for me, though, and I'm not even prone to migraines. I can't imagine why they would consider the redesign to be an upgrade 🙈
Hello, Uniworld? The 1870's called, they'd really like their wallpaper back!!!
That much pattern would definitely give me headaches. But having the windows below the waterline looks kinda fun.
So fun!! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Interesting decor choice, I wonder what the pattern is named? Perhaps "grey-scale bordello", lol. I prefer the previous decor too!
I think that pattern is like a tactic of the cruise line to turn people off from booking the "cheaper" cabins, especially since there are only a handful of them to begin with.
I've yet to see a river cruise I'd take. That includes this one.
That pattern can survive a capsized boat. Rescue divers love it. (sarcasm)
Blimey, that's er... busy! Was unlimited Migraleve included in the fare? Did it mess with your depth perception at all? Got visions of you reaching for the door handle and it's still 3ft away 😂😂
Most people I know in the US would call that hobnail trim along the edges of the upholstery.
Never heard of that! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
No mushrooms tripping on that boat 🚢
That pattern looks so English to me! Carpet in the bathroom, that kind of vibe. Now imagine the interior decorator had applied some variation, and at least one wall without pattern. Alternatively the company could have hired some actual artists and let them do mural and/or ceiling paintings. Plenty of underemployed, talented painters around, you can probably pluck them from behind their easels on St Marco plaza.
As bad as the wallpaper is, water washing over the windows would be a bigger issue for me. That would feel suffocating.
Yessss exactly right ✅️
I did a uniworld cruise in russia about twenty years ago. We had a cabin in about the same location as your cabin on this cruise. It had one very annoying feature. It was apparently located over some heavy duty machinery that they would use going through the docks. And it sounded like the ship was running aground.
The size of the cabin wouldn’t make me feel claustrophobic but that wallpaper sure would! 😂
The only thing that makes sense is 1. They are hiding something terrible underneath in the worst way possible 2. Designer is blind 3. This is some sort of covert test on the mental impacts of excessively claustrophobic designs
Did I watch this video last week? In Venice?
That is what I’m thinking too
This is the cabin tour, I shared the video of everything outside the cabin a couple weeks ago. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
That wallpaper would have given me vertigo without the boat ever moving.
Wow, that is a lot of pattern! I have migraines and sometimes vertigo, would not do well with all that.
Padded cell with water torture!
The pattern would really trigger migraines in me. I once stood behind a woman wearing a really tight paisley pattern and ended up being bed ridden for 2 days.
Geeze! I got a head ache looking at the pattern on the walls! I grew up in the 70s the design looked like it was inspired by someone on LSD!
Hiya Emma. Decor's a bit busy.
The interior designer need to have his/her eyes and mind checked. That amount of patterns in such a small space is chaos inducing. 😂 Think the person is going for an ancient palace room vibe? But those places are spacious, this cabin by comparison is like a broom closet.
all wallpaper and no balcony makes volrathy go crazy
I think the pattern in the cabin has burnt into my monitor...or my eyes !It looks like when my auntie went mad with the fablon in her kitchen around 1983
Those round things on the walls look like upholstery nails... What they used to use to fasten fabric (or leather) to the frame of a chair or a couch.
So basically, cheapest cabin comes with headache😂
Haha. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼

That wallpaper would make me seasick 😂
That pattern would drive my up a dang wall trying to sleep, room has to be DARK and plain walls and ceiling to go to sleep
