This game I just recently discovered on Steam and its literally the most beautiful game ive ever played. It combines so many game feature loves Ive ever had, and you can literally build outposts, fortresses, small villages outside your domain, to supply your larger city. The only feature I strongly dislike is not being able to raise ground levels, add ground elevation or shape the ground very well. If it had this type of feature this game would be absolutely perfect. Hopefully that will come with the full release.
Just downloaded this game still learning the ins and outs and i have to say i love it... By the way your city is fantastic.. Hopefully I will get their eventually..
Something I started doing lately to keep trees away from an area, is dropping down farmland after I clear out trees and the trees wont grow back. Just put down farmland to delete the tree stumps after you harvest the trees and then delete the farmland. That will clear out a boundary you want to keep clear of trees. As for the hunter lodge, the upgrade definitely feels broken. As soon as I upgrade it, meat goes way down and they always say they havent seen anything for a while. Ive had them on 3 nodes of deer in 1 spot and they were 11/10/8 per node. How do you say you havent seen anything for a while in a area so full of animals? Also I set traps to 2 and it always goes back to 4. If your using hunters for meat, do not upgrade, or you will starve...
I think hunter's 2 is broken as well, I get the same pop up lot of times saying they haven't seen any game lately, yet you can clearly see deer walking around the area and eating my crops. -.- I think rat catcher might also be bugged, I had huge infestation problem and had like 20 catchers around the city and they didn't really do whole lot. Obviously I might have been doing something wrong, but I made sure to move around working areas or place cabin near let's say granaries or warehouse.
i think the game needs a kind of campaign, with stages that have certain goals to accomplish (just like old city building games like Ceasar and Stronghold). That way new players can get familiar with the complex mechanic of the game in a fun and narrative way. i just bought this game this week, playing the easiest difficulty to learn the ropes. still struggling at tier 2, but i'll keep learning. your videos are a great source to learn this game !
I got a couple of 800+ cities by now, my pattern is 2 walls > towers > another wall > garrisons, well manned and with the help of other garrisons from sides that are not under attack that stops anything easily with only a couple villager killed / walls destroyed. Oh and yeah my cities are basically squares made of 4 markets residential areas surrounded by amneties / decorations / storage (near the exits), industry is right outside the walls on each side, 2 of which are major: the iron industry side and the farm/barn/milling industry side, I could easily go over 1200+ pop with that but the game just gets too laggy
I found that if you place stoned towers every 5 spaces, it provides enough attack power to defend against the largest of armies. Also adding double gates helps considerably, and making gates bottle neck with towers around the bottle neck. You can also double layer your walls by building walls double row touching each other. It looks strange but provides you enough time to send your garrison troups to the location and crush your enemy.
I'm on my 20th year but am struggling with upgrading my buildings to Homesteads (17, need 24), also I can't upgrade my town to level 3 as I need more complicated tools that no traders seem to bring and I can't make them as I don't have iron...
Nice layout you have there. Is there any chance of you adding your game info above? I made a note of your map details (Map seed and biome type) after watching this video (I'll give this a go when I get the chance next week) Added here for others to see Farthest Frontier Game Ver 0.7.5f Map Seed: 586cc23a66c Biome: Alpin Lakes Can't recall what level you're on. No doubt top level (Vanquisher?) Wait until you get to a pop of nigh on 1,000 and then it gets interesting, and they attack with an army of 250, with battering rams, and raiders. coming from all quarters, I creamed the buggers with a triple wall defence (with entry and exit gates) with 12 towers, all within range, and three barracks full of soldiers (92) and I used roads to lead them into the kill zones. I learnt that tip from another RUclips player (build roads to draw them into kill zones, with great defensive positions. They prefer roads, so it seems, that take them direct to your village/town/city. I have a population of 990 (approx) and they always go for gates and towers. So I built a mini style castle (towers and barracks combo behind a triple wall) and they got creamed every time. A pity that you can't recover loot from dead raiders and armies though, but at least they don't fill your graveyards, an added bonus(?) as the bodies seem to simply disappear. Keep up the good work. Nice and informative too. 👍😉
I found a way to turn your entire streets into red brick, by using the cobble stone single tile parks but the only drawback is it costs gold for services, and also the townsfolk do not utilize the road as a main route, rather, they will walk randomly around building corners and not walk on the road itself. Once you upgrade the small tile parks to tier 2, they turn into a beautiful red brick path and they can cover entire city streets but cost a fortune so unless you have massive income from candles, and armor, be prepared to go bankrupt lol.
Considering that this is still the alpha, it does a pretty good job, that's at least my opinion. And so far my hopes are high that they will add a couple of nice things too. With the last update we already got more decorations so I'm really exited on how far they will take everything.
I think its just optimization, because im playing on a walmart msi laptop with a 1060 or 1060ti i cant remember, and it does fine till up above 200 or so, more like 250 you feel it. I more so have a problem with the game freezing or hanging when it autosaves. I can alt+tab most of the time and tab back in and it fixes it. but im about to turn it to about 45 minutes or however long i can. ive also noticed if you dont draw the resources, like the widgets that tell you whats around it decreases the hit on the hardware.
Has anyone figured out how to stop the villagers from taking raw fish and meat instead of smoked? Houses have lots of raw meat/fish and smoked is sitting in my storage.
Distances matter, if the smoke houses are closer to where the resources are gathered, it will be brought there instead of the market. (Most of the time) I just put a smokehouses right next to the hunting and fishing cabins and don't worry about it.
here you are with a final frontier metropolis and there I am trying to get my people to stop abandoning there damn houses and walk around like crack heads because they are now homeless and had to resort to eating tree bark due to its texture because I have no idea what the hell I'm doing. good talk
I hope some developers satrt to make city buildin games in Unreal Engine 5 so we can see how game like these would fare when nanite tech is implemented into the gam,e and see if that will enable devs to have massive maps with all bioms in it and variatiosn of resorces without needing to start new game and chose different maps BUT most importantly to see how much population and buildings the devs and players can achieve/push by having nanite tech active. I bet that it would add alot of preformance benefits BUT sadly we dont knw bcs there isnt an RTS or city building game (that i know of) that used UE5 for their game. I hope some gaming company in near future like within 1/2 years we get anoncment that there is atelast 1 game for RTS and city builder type game that uses/was created in UE5 simply just to see how it would fare and how much nanite tech willl help out with it.
How we call for that type of game? City builder & Tower (City) defence? Nice idea for game, because. Normal city builder its going boring after few hours, no purpose. Here you still need to defence your selfe
I am playing the game on a 8yo laptop (Acer Aspire V 17 Nitro), my city is currently at 250 citiens or so and I have to play at 60% resolution and all the other grapic things off.
When winter starts to come in the farms no longer need workers I remove them all from the farm and put them on other jobs. Just remember to put them back in the farm at the beginning of spring. Same with foragers.
Great village! can someone advice how to deal with building damaging/neglected system ? I m trying to keep high stock of resources but I feel like this is not helping...
Hi raptor, any tips or trick to ensure we have enough logs and wood? After my pops reached 300, most of the tree is gone and Im having hard time to get enough supply for my people.
@@cheesse9yearsand you mean the work camp? Yes I just noticed its helped to preserved the young tree and only harvest the matured trees which yield more logs. Thank for the info
Anyone else having trouble will walls being built? For some reasons my villagers stopped building in a whole new game they haven’t touched them even on priority and in a game where I already built half my cities walls they just stopped building them even on priority. I tried to restart the game and all running out of ideas and wondering if even one else is experiencing this?
You can’t move fruit bushes if your playing on a save from launch day. You should be able to click on the bush and there will be a move building icon in the bush GUI.
So I've been wondering. What engine are the developers running this game on? I have seen a lot of promise with Unreal Engine 5. If they have the ability to move all the game information from the current engine to UE5 might ease the lag.
Try an attack with about 250, army and raiders. I creamed the buggers with a triple wall defence (with entry and exit gates) with 12 towers all within range and three barracks full of soldiers (92) and used roads to lead them into the kill zone. This game is the answer to the pathetic grand ages medieval. Does it also has incredible mods about more enhancing medieval structures , decors, buildings and assets general of the Medieval World ?
Stock your trading post in the winter that way you're ready for the spring trades.
To force your builders to repair a building you can pseudo-prioritize the repair by relocating the building to its current location.
I'd be dying to get into that cemetery

Love this game! Only had it a few days and lost nearly 12 hours. That is also a damn fine village you got there!

I wish it was not grid based. I like Ostrivs ability to rotate buildings in any directions.

I would also love the ability to build walls at 45 degree angles like you can roads by holding shift. that would tickle my pickle.

Do you know if there is a button to see the name of the building above the buildings? I'm going crazy to find the building every time. Thanks
I really want to get this game but the low fps and lack of optimization are the only things that's keeping me from buying it.
