Somebody recommended you a movie "Bajirao Mastani", which is a great one, but to see how important music is for their movies, you can check a video for a song "Deewani Mastani" from that movie. Maybe you guys know this already. Or maybe you don't. Bollywood is an allusion to movies made in India only in the HINDI language, and poorly named at that. Apart from Bollywood, there is "Kollywood", "Mollywood", "Tollywood" and a few other "woods" for movies made in other languages within India. And the output from the other woods are far more exciting and diverse by nature. Dont make the classic mistake of limiting the Indian movie industry to "Bollywood". The 3 "Khans" that you talk of, are limited to Bollywood, and there are much better and versatile actors than them in other industries. 🙂
There are some fantastic movies in Hindi like 3 idiots. Some relatively recent good ones are Swades, Dangal, Lunchbox, Piku, etc. But also watch non-Hindi movies like Kantara, Kumbalangi Nights, Minnal Murali, Visaranai, Eaga, Thevar Magan, etc to get a hang of the diversity and flair for movies made from across India. These movies are just to get you started. 🙂
Pk 3idiots Dangal Tare zameen par Thats it u have peak bollywood movies in your hands. There are others, too, but it does not match with the taste of international audience. I mean each part of India have its own movie industry and bollywood is only one among many. Others are tollywood mollywood etc... If I were to rank these industries I would place mollywood first for releasing realistic movies and bollywood second for these movies I mentioned above. All other industries they focus on local taste of their viewers, focusing on only one category of people which makes there movies unbearable to watch.
