    Let me say it like this: If you have the money anyways it's the best to go for ifixit not only BCS of quality but also BCS everything around the product that they offer even if you don't have an ifixit kit, which is rly honourable to do. Like in theory they could only give access to the website if you also bought a kit with a id and pw included in each kit or so.
    But on the other hand it's totaly understandable when people have to actual think about a 70€ purchase since it's a big use of budget for them to not go for ifixit, xool definitely has its place.
    Also if you're just using the kit once in a while and not a lot there is just no reason to go for ifixit, even if the part quality on avg is cheaper you will probs get 10+ years out of it regardless with minimal use.

    One of the things I like about the ifixit is that the screwdriver lid has an organizer for the pieces you are taking apart.

    Ifixit tool kit is $83 dollars , once you add shipping .

    The biggest pro about the ifixt tool kit is that they provide lifetime warranty. So if you are not a regular user of the tools, it may not be best option for you. But if you use them regularly, this is the best value for money and not comparable to other cheaper tools in the market.

    I’ve had to 80-in-1 Xool kit for about 4 years. I’ve used it on phones, laptops, speakers, etc. and it has gotten the job done. However I have noticed that the bits are easily rounded if you don’t make sure to pick the best fitting one for your screw. Also I got one of those “magnetic ashtrays” from microcenter to hold parts while working and I’d like to know if the ifixit magnetic mat is strong enough to keep things from rolling around.

    • @MindmeldTech
      @MindmeldTech  11 месяцев назад

      No, at least in the Ifixit kit I have the magnetic mat seems to just hold the bit box in place. It was kind of disappointing. Not sure if they changed this since I first did this video.

      Actually the "lifetime warranty" only covers items that are damaged from the factory.

    • @Carterthielftw_
      @Carterthielftw_ 2 года назад +1

      @@beanos2287 it actually doesnt. I have bought almost every tool I own from them, and have had only 2 issues ever. both of which were covered by warranty, one nearly two years after purchase. In their own legal doc they state that "Lifetime Warranty" is defined as "forever, as long as IFixit's and your continued existance" and that the only items they do not cover are "consumables" like the picks, where they state that "if the pick snaps in half, then we will cover it, but will not warranty it if it loses function after the hundreth time"

    • @beanos2287
      @beanos2287 2 года назад

      @@Carterthielftw_ they will replace something a couple or a few times, but I've heard of people that use their kits a lot and end up needing quite a few replacement components, at which point IFixIt will refuse to send them any replacements.

    I had been thinking about buying a Xool but I wanted to know how it would compare to an iFixit. This helped me a lot with my decision and I will be buying a Xool.

    Walmart carries a 77 piece phone/electronics driver set. I think it’s under the “hyper tough” brand name. they are in most stores nationwide and can be bought off their website as well. It’s in a bright neon green plastic flip case that has a clear front.
    It’s about $10 might be $12… I’ve had several of them that I use as Beater Tools, or to take out in the field. I’ve been extremely impressed!
    Ifixit tools are pretty similar in quality to the hyper tough Walmart tools… But if you want to find real quality go with Wiha. Not worth it unless you’re doing it every day full-time but holy Jesus it’s a whole different experience.
    Not a huge fan of the Wiha/xiaomi crossover though. It might have Wiha’s name on it but it’s not the same quality, or price.
    I repair industrial electronics and test equipment for a wide range of clients. I’ve probably got as much invested in small hand tools (like screwdrivers, crimpers, wire cutters… Stuff like that) as the truck I drive everyday. Well… Maybe I haven’t spent that much.... but if I had to replace it all it would cost me that much now.
    Good video and good descriptions all around!

    I did the same buy a xool and utilize the ifixit, they’ve even stated that they sale tools and parts to fund their operations, guides, and website. Definitely something to support but I as well, am cheap as you lol.

      Not just the quality, is their warranty as well. I get that the one tool kit is only 20, but ifixit will replace everything. Lifetime warranty. If you have it for a long time it's worth it. I guess it really just depends on how often you actually use it.

    The iFixit is worth the extra for the quality of the tools provided. It only takes a stripped head or thread on a bit of delicate equipment and it can be ruined. Buy the best quality of tools you can afford unless they are only going to be used once and then thrown away.

    Does Xool have Lifetime Warranty like iFixit?

    • @MindmeldTech
      @MindmeldTech  4 года назад

      Details on the web are unclear, looks like some type of warranty is offered but you have to call in for details.
      I can see the draw of a lifetime warranty. Personally I lose more tools than I break..lol
