Things you left out re ifixit product: lifetime warranty, magnetic cover also provides a magnetized screw separator (which you didn’t use, instead just laying the screws on the table), ifixit lobby for “right to repair” movement/legislation

Magnetic strap?! That's an Electrostatic Strap for grounding yourself when you're working on any technology.

When I started the practicum, I didn't have much money, so I bought a cheap iWork set. The case broke the first time I opened it, the precision driver was crooked, the spin cap had a lot of resistance, and would get caught, and the ratcheting handle was really sloppy and skipped. After that day, I decided to get good tools, even If I had to pay more. The iFixit isn't that expensive and it's quite good. Some screw extraction pliers and an esd mat are a good addition.

I've owned Hyper Tough bit set, power drill, and dremel set for years. I've gotten great mileage out of them. You can put together a decent cheap tool bag from just Walmart alone.

I agree with your assessment. I use a $10 or $15 Hyper Tough toolkit, it is similar to the one you have there except it has a little fewer bits and an extender piece instead of the pieces for doing screen/tablet/phone repairs. Good video my friend

Thanks! yea only reason i have it is cause the wife bought it for me lol.. outside of that I would still be using the hypertough kit.

I love that he left the bad takes in and just carried on instead of cutting the whole video up and pretending he is perfect

Dude, use the ESD strap and keep your hands off the contacts. A good chunk of CMOS ICs will blow with improper handling, and no ESD strap or mat is improper handling. Otherwise good video.

The iFixit Pro Tech is an amazing set, high quality and lifetime guarantee.
I have both the iFixit kit and that red bit set.
The bits from the red set brake easily, without even ruining the screws.

I like the video and appreciate you taking the time to do it! I was on the fence of ifixit for just a hobby, I might go for it though. But I kinda wished that the video wasn’t upside down(?), I guess I’m used to the maker’s pov. I just ended up leaving my phone flat on a table and turning it around. Good work man!

Man, i took you so long to say the ifixit kit is extraneous. I mean, you're not sponsored. Why beat around the bush? You also missed the opportunity to show if the bits from the Walmart set fits in the ifixit driver and vice versa

You get what you pay for when it comes to hardware durability. Everyday usage separates junk from the "good stuff". Personally, I have and use xcelite tools in my shop.
