Didn't mention that A5X have extremely low hiss, lower than T5Vs, which was already not an issue. On 0dB setting, you only hear a very faint hiss if you move your ears 2-3 centimeters close to the tweeter. On T5Vs, it was audible from 2-3 inches away at 0dB, still not audible in my usual listening position. Even on Max gain, the hiss on A5X is very low, on T5Vs, it is somewhat audible on max gain.
This. Most reviewers tend to ignore that hiss like it's not even present. But it's there and sometimes it might be a huge issue when it's loud. And some monitors have very loud hiss making it actually unusable. Sometimes it's not even cm, but actual meters. I experienced that and many users here and there according to their posts. Nearfield monitors with hiss audible from 2-3m? Is that a joke? There are many posts on reddit and forums, but only from small fraction of users. Some of those threads / posts get filled with comments from people who fail to acknowledge that the issue is often with monitor itself - there's self-hiss even when no audio cable is plugged into monitor and the hiss doesn't change no matter what volume settings you set. Others say like "well, it's a studio monitor, it can hiss, whatever, who cares". This way or another, all those topics go nowhere, even when manufacturer's representatives are on the forums. However, I heard that HEDD acknowledged this problem and fixed it by using resistor. Good, but why that was an issue in first place? Where was QC or even common sense? And since there's not a lot of attention to this, manufacturers don't care that much and still overlook acoustic comfort. In the upshot we as customers get lower-quality products with hiss which should not been there. Nearfields has to be near ears, and ear-raping constant hiss defeats the whole purpose of that. So it is good that you mentioned this problem.
@@ivanbardov Yes true. This is the fist thing I check in a monitor: Switch it ON without any audio cable plugged in! If there is audible hiss, I set it aside even high quality ones. Then one thing I noticed that the use of balanced cables removes the "buzz" sound that may arise in some setups. If those noises are present: I cannot make music. :)
I had T5V - they were really good but I wanted to get something with a bit more of the bottom end... I went for HEDD 07 MK2 and Neumann KH 120 A instead. I couldn't regret my choice more as Adams were more superb in clarity and the overall realism of the sound. Now I just ordered S2V and A5X we will see which one is a keeper :) Many thanks
Dude, what? I just found this channel... Why? This took way too long, such a great detailed and precise review. And not to mention... YOU GOT CHARACTER! Definitely subscribed!
I bought a brand new pair of t5v's. After 1 day one of the spreaker sounded weard. Find out that the tweeter died (at mid volume level listening). Sent it back, got a new one and guess what? Yes! After 5 days the speaker started to sound weard again! Sent it back again (yesterday) and today the other speaker stopped working! Wtf Adam? I have over 14 years of studio experience, I owned 6-7 pairs ofmonitors and never had any issues with them. Now I bought the A5X's and I really hope I won't have problems with them too!
i am testing the T5V sinds two weeks and no problem with them .... sounds ok .... but for me its not very flat and perfect for home studio .... maybe go for A5X or alpha 50 ?
First Indian RUclipsr who has some perspective about audio. Try out Kali lp6, jbl 305, 306 also. All of them measure really well. Also get a large mouse pad for the desk to kill the tables reflection and vibration.. Also a5x is an older model, so t5v is more value for money as they scaled down their higher end tech to the budget speaker category
One day I will own those. I have never seen any Indian youtuber like you. You are on another level. You get into intricate details of every product you review. You never miss out any important thing. There are many youtubers with 10 to 100 times more subscribers than you but still you are on another level. Geekyranjit is also a good youtuber but he does not explain things as you do. There are many youtubers who were initially consumer centered but after reaching out a good amount of subscribers they just forgot what they stood for and eventually became money making machines. Bhaiya aap kabhi bhii aisa mat karna aur ye level maintain karna. Bhaiya abhi mai 12th me hoon ek normal se family se. Jab bada ho jaaon aur paisa kamane lagoon tab aap ltt ke takar me aao mai yahi chahunga. Right now you are at par with many decent foreign youtubers in quality content even with just 47k subs.

You can get something from Edifier, those are pretty good value for money. The Edifier 1280DB is 10k for a pair, better than any soundbar, has Bluetooth, a remote.
Can studio monitors be used as everyday speaker for normal listening purpose (watching TV shows or listening to music) ? I heard they don't fill the room with enough sound that general powered/passive speakers does (of course with some sound coloring). Are they really designed only for professional setup where you are lil close to speaker ?
Yeah of course, good speakers are good speakers, regardless of whether they're studio monitors or not. That being said, there are nearfield and midfield monitors, and these are nearfield ones. How much sound a speaker can fill is irrelevant to what kind of speaker it is, it depends on the power and size of that speaker. Hi fi speakers can offer a wider listening spot, sometimes because they boost highs so it sound nicer from a distance, but it's not a big difference. A particular model if studio monitor or regular speaker can be good/bad depending on many factors.
Just following up - I purchased the A5X bundle (with the 8-inch sub) and this system is AMAZING. I have never heard such STUNNING clarity, detail, seperation - it's truly just a pleasure to listen to music through them. HIGHLY recommended!
Thank you for the review. I look forward to getting a RME babyface pro Fs + A7X’s. I really hope to achieve ease of use in dialing in my high gain patches on my amp modelers to translate both for studio and live use.
Both solid af, But the A5X's are another level of resolving. No doubt that which would be more appreciated by one who is doing some mixing and recording yes! Hmmm...
Wow this Review is GREAT. Thank you! The Temperature metric was unexpected but really good info to help make my decision :) Edit: The comment about the front and rear ported difference according to your room really shows you know what you are talking about. Great work dude!
Hey, is there a reason you don't use auto reference level switched to "on" on your RME ADI 2 FS for listening via "Line Out?" In the booklet it said having it on maximises the dynamic range when using line out, as it increases the output once a certain dBr is reached. But I never listen as loud as you anyway - so maybe I am better having it switched off?
You can use initially, it'll work, but you should get a better DAC, at least in 150-200 USD range later on. Scarlett Solo has a pretty low end DAC. (because it's also not a dedicated dac, but an interface).
Would you choose a used pair (good condition) of A5X monitors for around $450-$500 or would you choose a used pair (also in good condition) of T5V monitors for around $300? My music room is smallish at roughly 9x14x8 and I'm a guitar player looking to track demos and play through the monitors via audio interface and I eventually want to work my way up to producing and maybe releasing my own music once I get better at mixing. Thanks!
T5Vs should be good enough for your purpose, but if possible, the A5X will be 'nicer' to have. Even though A5X have been replaced by A7V and so, these monitors don't really get 'outdated', nor you'll benefit that much with higher end speakers, except maybe if you want fuller bass.
@@TechReflex Thanks so much for the feedback! I think I can actually get the A5Xs for $400, with the T5Vs being $300 used. Do you think the difference in sound quality with the A5Xs is worth the extra $100?

Hello, i want to ask how your EQ setting in the back panel? I put it on the computer desk and near the wall, also the right speaker near corner, i set the low shelf to +3db to get more bass, is this correct?
In a small room, you'd actually want to reduce the bass and treble knobs. I am now using a measurement mic to correct the sound for my room, so both high and low shelf knobs are reduced by 4-6 dB in addition to EQ correction with RME DAC. Or just try different settings and see what sounds better.
I haven't tried that model specifically, but the M10 were some of the best value speakers that I've use, and I am sure m50w will also be great, especially with their sub which will make it work great l with TV.
Depends on what you're doing, the HS8 extend somewhat lower, but other than that, the A5X should do everything better. People have even preferred the T series over the HS series, so the AX series in a different class. You can also check out A8X if your budget allows or T8V for most low end extension.

Haha yeah, that was a bit confusing, so basically you send both left and right channel signals to the same speaker, and then connect that speaker to the other speaker, which enables you to control both speakers with a single volume knob of one speaker instead of needing to adjust volume knobs on both speakers. This of course only works on RCA and not XLR.
Next up the Hedd Type 20s and you're done. Trust me when I say this, these are not your "end game" speakers :) Looking forward to your ADI2 fs review. I still have trouble with the menus on mine. Do give it a thorough menu dive, there aren't any detailed videos on youtube showcasing the menus.
Well, I am quite curious about HEDD Type 20s, especially how the 3 driver config will sound like in nearfield. Also, the ADI2 DAC review is something that I am thinking about the approach for, don't want to leave out features but also don't want to make it like a video manual. BTW RMEs official channel does have many videos on different menus.
They sound fantastic. Especially paired with the Adi2 Pros. Haven't tried out their Lineariser software yet, though I hear it adds greatly to the experience.

Hi! Recently bought the T5V to pair to a TV, the LG CX. The CX has a headphone out and I've connected the Adams to them using a 3.5mm to dual RCA cable. Do you think I'm better off getting a DAC instead of using the inbuilt DAC of the CX ? I'm not able to find which DAC is used in the CX but it's a pretty expensive TV so I feel like it can't be bad.
Dedicated dac should be substantially better. But you may not notice that big of a difference. Just get it if you can, and don't worry about missing out on a lot if you decide to not get it. But do buy a $100 DAC or better.
@@TechReflex Another question, do you think adding an isolation pad will improve the performance of the T5Vs ? Right now, I've placed them on a hard surface.
I dunno if it's relevant but I just found out a Indian brand named "obage" they call there speakers audiophile grade but I doubt considering the price I'd love to see a review especially of obage dt 2425 if possible 😊

Hi! I’m planning to get the T5Vs for my desktop gaming setup. What would be your recommendation to connect them to the desktop? Directly or through an interface? Also with the T5Vs is there anyway to power them both off at the same time or do you have to power them one by one?
I guess a5x with a sub that matches its quality would be better, because even though I haven't tried a7x, (so not sure if a5x does mid range better), when you add a sub, you just free up speaker woofers from needing to make the low end frequencies below subwoofer crossover point, which should improve sound of speakers significantly. Besides, you'd also be able to get bass that extends lower than a7x, or even A8X.
I did a search on A5X because i am very intrigued by how much better the sound can possibly be compared to the T5V. I recently purchased the T5V and they sound really great with a Topping E30 and an SVS SB-1000. I use these not for mixing but just listening to hi rez music at my PC. Actually I bought a pair of T8V after trying the T5V's seeking an improvement but they do not have quite the same magic. Sure, they go slightly louder and lower but something was just slightly broken in the overall presentation and resolution. The sweet spot is definitely the 5" woofer with these tweeters. I have come to the conclusion that the Adam tweeter in the T5V is amazing and I am somewhat disappointed in this review as he touts up the woofer as being better. I am really happy with the bass and midrange performance of the T5V but was hoping for improved separation and resolution in the high end. I was wondering if space and clarity between instruments would be improved with going higher up the chain.
It is difficult to imagine how better the A5Xs can be compared to the T5Vs until you've tried them. I also had a similar line of thought about "how much better can they be compared to T5V?", but the difference was apparent from the first track I played on them. Try to audition them if you can. Your definition of 'the magic' will really change once you hear them.
@@TechReflex Thanks for the reply. OK, I bought a pair of A5X. Should be here in a couple days. I am really digging these T5V a lot so I am absolutely looking forward to this!

My audio setup lacks audio detail ... When I listen TENET audio in headphone it feels so good ..but in my audio setup it is lack luster Some day I will get good speaker like this ... What about buying class d amplifier from AliExpress and build a speaker by self
You can try, but matching the amps with drivers, and making proper crossovers etc. is a very complex task, so it'll not be easy to make something that can match the performance of speakers made by brands with much more experience. That being said, some people have made some really good DIY speakers, and they can be very cost effective.
Sound tests are THE WORST way of judging the sound quality of a product. What these AMT tweeters do just can't be reproduced by what people are listening to this video with. Also, even mics have uneven frequency response, so coupled with the issues that happen when you record (especially with room acoustics in mind), it's just a very bad way of demonstrating what it sounds like.
@@TechReflex yeah you are exactly right, but would have loved to see the difference between the sounds of the 2 speakers, because it impossible to demonstrate its actual quality
It is significantly lower, had planned to mention it, but then cut it to make video shorter. (because the rule i follow is only mention stuff like that if it is an issue, and not if it is working as it should).

Both of those are newer than AX series, maybe that's why. These are also the only ones using analog crossovers instead of digital, but the end result is still great without the waveguide (though not sure if there are more reflections because of that, it certainly does sound significantly better as I said).

I haven't tried that model specifically, but the M10 were some of the best value speakers that I've use, and I am sure m50w will also be great, especially with their sub which will make it work great l with TV.
Could you also review a cheaper budget speaker set? Like for budget PC users :D
Have reviewed Swans m10, it's the best in budget.
@@TechReflex they are great but the only thing stopping me is the after sales service which is practically absent :(
@Siddharth Nandakumar presonus eris 3,5. And a large mouse pad covering the entire desk. Kills reflections and sound is holographic

Should I buy Yamaha hs8 or Adam a5x ?..... For mixing
Depends on what you're doing, the HS8 extend somewhat lower, but other than that, the A5X should do everything better. People have even preferred the T series over the HS series, so the AX series in a different class. You can also check out A8X if your budget allows or T8V for most low end extension.

bro Can you review slightly more budget Studio Monitors around 10k-20k rupees.
Will try.
I don't get your explanation about stereo link on the A5X speakers 🤪
Haha yeah, that was a bit confusing, so basically you send both left and right channel signals to the same speaker, and then connect that speaker to the other speaker, which enables you to control both speakers with a single volume knob of one speaker instead of needing to adjust volume knobs on both speakers. This of course only works on RCA and not XLR.
@@TechReflex got it now. Thanks
Bro please review oneodio a71 as it has better cushioning than oneodio pro 10
Please review it its available at amazon at 2700
Yes, I will see if I can cover that. I'll already be covering their EKSA Gaming headset this month.
Can i use a5x without dac? huge difference?
You can, but you should at least get something around $200 like a ZenDAC to really get the most out of them.
From where you ordered these Adams?
You can order from Adams official site
In India they're available on Amazon at a great price (at least at the moment), alternatively they're available on Bajaao.
great video, thank you!
Thanks & welcome. :)

Next up the Hedd Type 20s and you're done. Trust me when I say this, these are not your "end game" speakers :)
Looking forward to your ADI2 fs review.

LMAO you're thinking that you'll be able to hear the sound difference if I record it with a microphone and you hear it with your device.

Yeah of course, isolation pads make a difference, and isoacoustics stands make an even bigger difference.
I dunno if it's relevant but I just found out a Indian brand named "obage" they call there speakers audiophile grade but I doubt considering the price I'd love to see a review especially of obage dt 2425 if possible 😊
Amazing review! Thank you very much.
Welcome. :)
I think I can build my dream PC by selling these speakers 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Could u give me a suggestion for fixing the falling off of the wireless earphones?( Specifically Boat 171) The thing is I have tried all the bud sizes but the right earphone just doesn't fit rit, it keeps falling off however the left one fits perfectly...
apke hisab se wharfedale diamond 10.2 kaise hai?
Nad ke amplifier ke saath lagaye huye hai,
maine inse jyada achhi awaaz to suni nahi, aap batao yeh kaha stand karenge
The new diamond 12 is worth the new price than 10. They work well on NAD
This really helped me with my decision on which one to buy, thank you!!!
Hi! I’m planning to get the T5Vs for my desktop gaming setup. What would be your recommendation to connect them to the desktop? Directly or through an interface? Also with the T5Vs is there anyway to power them both off at the same time or do you have to power them one by one?
At least get some $100 DAC like Schiit Modi 3 or iFi ZenDAC. You'll have to power them individually.
Would you recommend A5x with sub or a7x? Have read reviews that the mids are clearer from the 5x
@@TechReflex Thanks! I thought so too. The matching sub would probably be Adam Sub 8 can go down to 30Hz. Thanks for the pointers!
@@TechReflex Just unboxed the A5X, plugged them in and they are on another level of clarity and accuracy from the T5V. I wasn't unhappy with the cheaper Adams but wow!
Thought it would be a nominal improvement.. It's not, these are significantly better.
Told ya. 😎
@@TechReflex Hi there.. I have the T5v pair, from the hs5 pair... intrihgued by the A5x pair... I make beats.. bass and kick heavy... do you think I would gain anythin g by getting the A5x pair... My audio setup lacks audio detail ...
When I listen TENET audio in headphone it feels so good ..but in my audio setup it is lack luster
Some day I will get good speaker like this ...
Please if possible then review JBL sound bar deep bass 2.1. i am thinking of buying it so I wanted to know is it worth it or not
NO SOUND TEST,What is this behaviour Siddharth? ;(
Sound tests are THE WORST way of judging the sound quality of a product.

How does the tweeter hiss compare? I have the T5Vs I am looking for something with a lower hiss
It is significantly lower, had planned to mention it, but then cut it to make video shorter. (because the rule i follow is only mention stuff like that if it is an issue, and not if it is working as it should).

What do you think about the new A Series Adam speakers? Do they have any important features that would make the older A series obsolete?
quite bizarre why ADAM chose to use the waveguide as on S, on TV, but not on AX series; also which most reviews have missed to cover.
Both of those are newer than AX series, maybe that's why. These are also the only ones using analog crossovers instead of digital, but the end result is still great without the waveguide (though not sure if there are more reflections because of that, it certainly does sound significantly better as I said).
Thank you for answering the exact question I had. A5x all the way! :D
