I'm new to your channel and I'm so glad I've found it. This is still an amazing tutorial and I'm glad it's here, 3 years later as I get back into playing S4! The only thing I would add is this, and it's so incredibly simple to most experienced players that they never mention it in their tutorials: to make the menu taller than two rows, simply press 1. Aw, that's helpful in maaaany ways I need such a tutorial 😂 Thank you so much, placing objects that free makes every thing looking a little more realistic and that's just amazing I think, so thanks for sharing 💞
Another good idea is to always put a sim into the home and test the items you have used move objects on before putting the home on the gallery. If you add a cupboard around a fridge etc, sometimes the fridge cannot be used until you have played about with fine adjustments on items, 😊

Super helpful thanks! I wonder if at 3:20 since you said it doesnt take up counter space can you still cook on that counter now? I also wonder if it depends on the size of the object, like the bread box while still not being directly on the counter would be too big for a sim to try to cook...or would they cook and it would clip? I've never really built anything before so im excited to try now 😍🤩
I finally got around to learning how to place clutter objects, because I’m jealous of all the pretty builds and honestly I HATED using 9 and 0. Thank you so much for this video! I bought sims 4 on my boyfriends computer and have been building like a maniac and I’m learning from you how to be better!
Theres a "style tool" at the top with all the other tools. You can use it to click on an item to change the color. Additionally, once you grab an item from the catalog, before you place it down but you're still holding it you can shuffle through swatches using + and - on the number pad :)
Thanks so much for this it helped a ton! For some reason I cant move objects up and down.. when i try to press control 9 or 0 it brings me to different floors in the house. Does anyone else have this problem
Every time I try to build a house, I run into so many issues (because I'm a noob). Is there any way to seamlessly resize an item? I noticed that many rugs scale very abruptly. Does the move objects cheat help with placing windows horizontally wherever you want them? I'm also obsessed with skylights, but I can never get them right. I've tried framing them with regular roof pieces, but my roof design does not always allow for that. Also, do you have any advice what to do about the walls that a skylight/ceiling spawns? A tutorial on different ways to add skylights/different skylight designs would be awesome! So many questions! I'm sorry... This video was great! Now I just need to remember everything...
Glad it was helpful! There is no way to seamlessly resize an item - just has set sizes it can be sized too. Aditionally, windows cannot be moved horizontally wherever you want them. Just on the grid. I don't think theres specific advice I have for skylights... Theres almost always walls created in the process. Just takes a lot of fiddling with them to get them to look the way you want. Sorry I couldn't be of more help D:
@@Gryphi Aw, thank you so much for your reply and don't feel bad! I had a great time building a nice little house after watching your video! Bummer about the windows. Guess I will have to buy more DLCs so I can get more windows in different sizes.
To those who have Nordic type of keyboard the shift + [ or ] for scaling doesn't work because our 9 is on the same key as the ] is. I tested different options and at least for me those scaling keys were å and ´ (it's next to the delete-button), so hold shift + å or ´ to scale things. Damn complex keyboard :D
I' struggling with walls foundations and roofs. how do you make them so smooth I add walls like a second floor to put roof but it ends up so weird and I cant move my foundations as a whole thanks you so much
Is she a time traveler. Those cabinets in the thumbnails are from the new dream home decorator pack. Did she change the thumbnail this year or has it always been that way. This is spooky
Thank you so much for the tips, I had always wondered how you made such beautiful builds! I think it'd be really cool if you had a sort of build-with-me kind of tutorial for something fairly easy and simple so viewers could follow along and be hands-on with the tricks and techniques you use :)

OMG the free placement with Alt and the Sims 3 camera..... 😭😭😭 Really THANK YOU !
When you like the vid before it starts because you know it’s gonna be good 😂
The sims 3 camera option is by far the most useful tip. I never knew and I hate the sims 4 camera.
Thanks so much for this it helped a ton! For some reason I cant move objects up and down.. when i try to press control 9 or 0 it brings me to different floors in the house. Does anyone else have this problem
I believe its 'alt' rather than control! Hope this helps! :)
Hannah Page thank you so much! I’ve actually tried alt too and can’t get it to work either :( I wonder what it could be. but thank you anyways!
Some people have said in the comments they use just 9 and 0 (no control key). It might be to do with what camera setting is on..
Jess Carrier thank you!! I’ll try that :)
:00 tysm!! this was super helpful!! and a suggestion for possible future challenges: the premade room challenge or renovating/fixing premade rooms?
You're welcome! Glad you thought so :)
Ahhhhh. I was so excited for this and didn’t think about the fact that I’m on a Mac and not a PC. Going to watch anyways though! Love your videos!
Oh noo! Not really sure on the controls for console, unfortunately. Thank you for your support regardless!
When you already know these things but liked the thumbnail o
❤️❤️
To those who have Nordic type of keyboard the shift + [ or ] for scaling doesn't work because our 9 is on the same key as the ] is. I tested different options and at least for me those scaling keys were å and ´ (it's next to the delete-button), so hold shift + å or ´ to scale things. Damn complex keyboard :D
Finally, this is the info i've been looking for for days, I thought mine was just broken. Thank you!
Its sad because i look for the tips and found them before because i wanted to build like you and now it's to late😂😂😂
about 9:10 , you can also use manageworlds when building, then buy the lot! But it’s helpful, especially if your sim already owns it.
I' struggling with walls foundations and roofs. how do you make them so smooth I add walls like a second floor to put roof but it ends up so weird and I cant move my foundations as a whole thanks you so much
This is a bit vague, but I've taken note of it. Hoping to do another tutorial sometime soon :)
I started playing Sims 4 like a week ago, and you helped me learn so much before years of gaming! Thnxxx
Is she a time traveler. Those cabinets in the thumbnails are from the new dream home decorator pack. Did she change the thumbnail this year or has it always been that way. This is spooky
Aren't they from parenthood?
I wish I saw this video 2 years ago! I knew about most of these things but the more advanced way to use these is brilliant. Thank you!!!
Glad it was helpful!
What happens when you press control 9 and it doesn’t work??
(Jk I figured it out it just wasn’t working for a sec)
Royal Weirdos what do you do!???? Mine doesn’t work
VIRGELEY P. Same
Been using these tricks for so long and I’m still shooketh asf
Same
when i type bb.showhiddenobjects it says “command failed” :(
Bahina Khilwatgar you have to add on, bb.showhiddenobjects on
Seema49 Ajpw I added “on” at the end of bb.showhiddenobjects and it said “command failed”
Thank you so much for the tips, I had always wondered how you made such beautiful builds! I think it'd be really cool if you had a sort of build-with-me kind of tutorial for something fairly easy and simple so viewers could follow along and be hands-on with the tricks and techniques you use :)
