Great explanation of how to approach a standard for an intermediate jazz pianist like me. You have revealed so many 'secrets' in a short tutorial . Usually teachers give you one bit of information (in far too much depth), whereas you have given tons of information in bitesize chunks. This is basically a blueprint for how I can practice other songs. Thank you for your work, this is awesome
This is exactly what I have been searching for three years! I’m in tears 😭Anything is missing. I would love a tutorial that covers the position of the closed voicings.
Bedankt Stijn. Zeer goede en brede benadering waarmee ik veel verschillende vaardigheden in een keer kan oefenen. Goede formule om ook toe te passen op andere Standards...
Thanks so much for devoting your time and energy to share your jazz piano knowledge. Would be so kind to also make a video on Rhythm changes in Bb . Thanks in advance
this is so brilliant! thank you so much! Your teaching method is perfect! No bullshit - straight to the point - and with such depth! Incredible! Thanks again. (I love you :D)
Man, this is the best turotial I've ever seen. For whatever reason, Moanin' is just stuck in my mind and in my soul, and I'd love to be able and play it. Hope you don't mind if I bother you via email for the sheet :-)
Hi. :) I have a question. At 04:04 we have a G7. I tried to follow you and to play a G dominant/altered scale on it but it doesn't sound good to my ears. I noticed you correctly didn't play any note on it. Could you explain why this appens? Many thanks.
@@marcopepe4046 Hi, I think it's a coincidence I didn't play anything on the G7 there. You could definitely play something on that chord, and the G7altered scale would be a good choice. But it's important you make it work and resolve to the C7 chord that comes after. You could play an altered line like the one I played on F7 two bars before that G7 (transpose the line 1 step up of course, and resolve to the E natural on C7). One thing I try to do is pick a few notes of the altered scale that resolve to the next chord (I seldom play the whole scale on just 1 bar). Hope that was a bit of help..? :-)
Thanks a kot for this incredible tutorial. There are so many information. Im a fan . I learn so much listening to your videos. For the background is it a soft or do you have a piano with rythm ?
Thanks a lot! I checked the notes at 0’52”, but I couldn’t find a mistake..? I am sure there plenty in other measures or videos :-) but there it looks fine..
If you didn’t go to church today ... well relax. Put on the original Bobby Timmons recording with Blakey. Then just practice along with this fine Moanin’ tutorial. You’ll be in Heaven.
Thank you so so much! I wanted to learn it ;) Thank you this is great 😁 Is there any chance I could get sheet music? I saw in your description that I can send an email to You is that available?
