Just a quick one, you can right click a track and select "assign track colour to clips" and it will do just that. Saves you having to highlight each individual clip and is also good to make sure you don't pick a slightly different colour (this happens sometimes as the blues/greens can be very similar!). Im just going to say that this was so helpful and to proove it, i literally had save all my projects into one folder, all my samples in that folder, and with out knowing, I kept saving projects in this folder for three years and now watching this video and seeing the mess i created. Just to give a reference i have 1000 samples in this one project folder and mutiple projects (at least 25 different tracks i've worked on)

I had a song completely finished & had to tweak a minor thing but could not find the song I recorded less than 24 hours ago. How about when you have a session with 5 or 6 songs. And you want export all in one audio file? I’m trying to do it but when is finished there is no audio
U should also mention dithering. Some people make the mistake of using a 3rd party limiter from waves or similar, and they still tick Abletons dithering. Same with when people bounce out/export stems. U wanna keep em non ditherered as dithering is done last. So yeah just a side tip. Gg

Dither is usually only applied by whoever is mastering the track, if you're sending your track to be mastered by someone else for example, select no dither. Otherwise the varieties of dither can just be applied to taste if you're mastering your tracks yourself.
Sorry, sir, may I ask you? How do you put your artist name and song name into the exported file? I mean, I heard that FL Studio allows you to get this information right into the exported file so that when you, for example, send it someone on Telegram, it's displayed as *artist name* - *song name*
This is called “Metadata”. Some software allow you to incorporate all info within an MP3 file. You can simply do it through iTunes. I manually add the info in the title before exporting!

Surely this is Abletons fault for not making it easy and simple to save the entire project and files to one place..? This is exactly what computers are good at. I've just started using Ableton having used Reason for 20 years nearly and I noticed that when I went to save my project in Ableton and reopen it it was a mess and some of the audio was missing etc etc.. So that's why i'm here reading this.

Don't we need to delete any unused audio or anything that's lingering in the session before you save it for archive or sharing? Why didn't you do that first? Because sometimes leaving unused audio or something would leave you with a bigger folder file size. So is there a way to delete unused files in a session before saving?
When you collect all and save, it deletes all the previous recordings and unused audio automatically. It only saves the audio you use! The most important is to not loose anything, not really the file size.
I have a really terrible issue and i desperately need help. I've been producing for about a year now and to cut a long story short all my projects are saved within one project (the first one i ever made) I thought it was no problem as it as organised but now that I've come to trying to move and export stems for other computers' and producers to use i realise its become a huge issue as my files are always offline. is there any way i could sort this out, thanks in advance to anyone who knows
I get it now, I mixed all my songs into one project, but its better to just have one project with that specific song, to be able to import and collect all the data based off that song, unless you don't mind mixing all the samples you've saved from different songs together. #ghettogamerzcomment #oggamerz #ghostnoied
these are not stems... Stems are stereo recordings sourced from mixes of multiple individual tracks. For example, a drum stem will typically be a stereo audio file that sounds like all of the drum tracks mixed together.
You can have a drum bus stem (containing all drums) but you can also have the individual stems of the drums (bass kick snare...) what would you call it otherwise? Track outs? I’m from France so I apologize if my understanding of the words might be off
Ouhhh!!! That has to do with Iyour hardrive... are you on a Mac? Look in the settings and see where your cache folder is... I’ve had that issue using an external hard drive
Oh shit... you have to play with the “folder” settings in the preference menus... your temp folder is full. Is it a cracked version? Or are you using an external hard drive?

What do you mean? Ableton doesn’t save vst or external plugins... so if your sending a project to friend and he doesn’t have those plugins, it won’t work! You need to export the audio or “freeze” the tracks with plugins
Well, I had Windows 7 since 2013 and today my friend transfered stuff from my c drive to the d..................then we installed the new c drive, we didnt delete anything from the old c drive, its in a drawer now..... so i downloaded ableton lite again and signed in, my 5 songs are gone. are they likely on the old c drive still in my drawer??? How do I get them back in my file??
