I would also recommend learning the keyboard shortcuts for performance mode, well handy when running through set ideas on my laptop with headphones on. Performance mode shortcuts: Loading tracks shift & left - deck 1 shift & right - deck 2 Play tracks z - deck 1 n - deck 2 Forward/back command + T/R - deck 1 command + P/O - deck 2 Correct beat grid to current position option + 3 option + 8 set hot cues 1,2,3,4 - deck 1 6,7,8,9 - deck 2 Restart track shift + a - deck 1 shift + h - deck 2 Expand tracks browse view space bar Enable beat sync q - deck 1 y - deck 2 Doubling/halving BPM Deck 1 Half/Double - command + '[' or ']' Deck 2 Half/Double - command + '/' or '\'
I have set my CTRL+Up/Down Arrow Keys to Preview the Tracks in my Browser view, saves me pure time. Example just tap Down Arrow to scroll down or up and went i land on something i want to take a quick listen to CTRL+ Up arrow starts the track from the first Cue, press again to stop, and CTRL+ Down to skip through the Track in increments of 30 seconds iirc, works great for me and means no messing with the Trackpad :)
".....it could be a bug or one of the 8000 BASIC feature they now expect you to pay for" I am feeling that one, any more crap and i am just buying Virtual DJ, one of payment and done.
to analyze my tracks, first i have to switch my audio source to wireless headphones / airpods the next thing i have to switch in settings is the hot cue behaviour "during pause, gate playback is applied" - these two steps are very annoing! Otherwise i use keyboard shortcuts for setting hot cues, set the beatgrid, lock the beatgrid, etc. I have 3800 tracks neatly organized and backed up
Great tips as always! I just wish Pioneer would sort out their analysis on D&B, you'd think they'd have gotten better at it by now but bugger it up more often than not
I never use dynamic mode. I just fix these beatgrids myself. Dynamic mode is never right and I like to be sure they're correct. Afterwards I lock the tracks indeed. And no, I won't replace my PC's with Macs. I have an M1 Pro Macbook Pro from my dayjob and actually prefer my 10 year old desktop PC.
I'm about to jump from Traktor (user since 2006) to also use Rekordbox due to getting DJM V10 / 2 CDJ 3000s. Want to get familiar again with club standard gear. If RB is that broken, why do many world famous DJs keep using it? Is it forced upon them in order to play stand alone Pioneer gear?
Would I be allowed to adverse one of my own videos that helps? I have one on how to VERY quickly customize the hot cue colors for ALL your tracks. I'm certain you and y our viewers would benifit from it!
The dynamic analysis has always been a nightmare for me. It's always giving wrong BPMs, especially by adding decimals (142.13 for example) when it's an integer BPM (142 for example)
Are you even a DJ if you didn't live through the 2016 era when playlists would take like 30 min to export, so you're borderline late for the gig waiting for your stick to finish?
Setting cues, saved and active loops is about finding FLOW of each track. How do you find flow while sitting behind computer? Shouldn’t you be able to do it directly from device like Denon Dj? Like standing in your home booth and adding loops and cues by saving them on actual device, don’t even have to touch the mouse or get distracted by “other computer stuff”.
Most important and #1 trick ever... DON'T UPGRADE TO V7... keep 6.8.0 forever if possible
Hey man actually I agree with you! But im facing a lot of issues with 6.8.3 to connect with xdj controllers
Would have kept it if it didn’t run so slow

10/10 video, thanks for the intel!
One of your best videos - amazing work ✅
Another quality video, solid work👊

Nice 🔥
Great nuggets in this video, thx much!
I just switched from Traktor and this video was a great help. Thanks
11:37 you're a savage xD
Thanks for this I use 😊
damn nice time savers thx!!!
I never do anything other on export mode than just stick syncing. Got myself a ddj400 just as a purpose keyboard for track prep.
".....it could be a bug or one of the 8000 BASIC feature they now expect you to pay for"
I am feeling that one, any more crap and i am just buying Virtual DJ, one of payment and done.
Also an SSD flash is so much faster for actual exporting and playing
Or change your PC with a Mac. This was great :D
Thanks

I found changing the analysis BPM range worked really well.

yoo can you have stacking wave forms in the cdjs 2000?
Nope 3000 only
thanks for this..... saw what you did there...... 8000 basic features they want us to pay for
Why can’t I set memory cues? Only get a single that defaults to the beginning of a track
Please do the same video for traktor
For seeing more tracks just use a vertical screen

Pretty much!
Hey chris, can you please make a video Exporting or adding a playlist without ruin the existing playlist in rekordbox. Thank you
Algorithm DJ destroys this and Serato!

rekordbox... a steaming pile of crap... nice video

It can be tempremental
