    I like it, I have built a smaller one that is powerful as hell, but for $200 including everything! That's a good deal, I wander what IGBTs/MOSFETs are used, also if it's Half Bridge or Bridge. Also be warned (THIS COIL DOES NOT USE OPTICAL DRIVE)!!!! Be wary of what you connect to it, the power input/feedback voltage/ audio and main signal drive are all going over that single wire you see. There's like 6 wires in there giving power and such, that is (in my opinion) the big flaw with it's design. Excellent video BTW! Not harping on, that's a word to the manufacturer to maybe implement an optical (IR) drive for the gate drivers.

      A new version came out that has fiber optics, the controller runs on battery, has ground and uses a connector like those on a PC.

    Are you running it off 120V ac? Cause these tesla coils will produce a far larger arc when running on 240V ac

      Depends if it's designed for it. Could easily fry it if it is not designed for it

    Man, I must say. This is one BIG Tesla Coil! I have a tesla coil myself that I have bought and put together, and it uses a typical slayer exciter circuit. The coil itself is pretty decent in size, considering it's more than 3 times the size of my previous tesla coil.
    The only difference is that its arcs are very high frequency to the point that I could touch it with my bare hands without being "electrocuted" (but the actual arc is very hot, so you can only touch it for a few seconds). Another thing is that it can play whatever song you want (it has very detailed audio).
    Overall, it's very good for its price, but this tesla coil that you've got right here? Oh, that is just a beauty! HUGEEEE ARCS! Haven't ever actually made a video yet talking about the tesla coil, but that will definitely always be a video I'd love to make!
    Great first video man! I'll definitely buy that thing if I'm looking forward to an upgrade!!!!

      @@felixb.1756 noice. It's still funny though, because I remember it taking me the length of an entire movie to wind a coil that is super, super small. Can't imagine having to wind something bigger! :D

    • @felixb.1756

      @@theelectronomer2319 Its quite easy to wind a coil for a SGTC. A DRSSTC secondary is a bit harder because of the thinner cable and more turns. If you build a winding rig with some wood and a cordless drill and get some help from friends or family you'll finish a 1m sec for a SGTC in around half an hour. It is quite painful to sit in the same place for half an hour but not as bad as you would think. So yeah if you have the space an money: Build one! I can help you out if you have any questions.

      @@felixb.1756 Nope, that's all good! Right now, we're kind of trying to save some money because of our financial situation, but I do still have a mini tesla coil which I enjoy playing with, but we'll see what the future holds!

    • @felixb.1756
      @felixb.1756 3 года назад +1

      @@theelectronomer2319 If you plan everything you only need about 100-200$ for a SGTC this size. My coil isn't perfect and as I said it was my first tesla coil so the secondary is to tall and to thin and it has to much windings. The primary tap is quite horrible and gets really hot and the spark gap is the worst. Either it is to far away and won't trigger or it hits the stationary electrodes. It gets really hot and is mounted with PVC so if the plastic melts a 150g threaded rod flies away with aroun 200 kph. Also we destroyed lots of MOTs and caps but now it runs quite well (except the spark gap). If you're gonna build one use a syncronous motor because you don't need a variac and it runs synced with mains so it works much better. As you can hear in my video I use a asynchronous motor and really don't recommend it. And use MOTs and not NSTs because MOTs are practically free and provide much more curren allthough with less voltage so you're gonna need multiple MOTs in series for the sparkgap to trigger. I used 4 in series submerged in oil.
