      @@ProtoV33MK1 Ok, I looked it up and supposedly it's ~4mg of mercury per a CFL lamp.
      (Let's assume it's all vaporized.)
      US environmental limit for concentration in air (by OSHA - work safety and stuff) is .1mg/m³
      This would mean it needs to spread into 40 cubic meters (e.g. a 4m×5m×2m room) to not exceed these limits
      So yeah… Most likely not dangerous. Still better to ventilate the room and try to not inhale too much when it's still concentrated, but it's not gonna harm you from happening once

    You can use ferrite dust mixed into epoxy, gives much higher density of ferrite while also decreasing the maximum conductive length from the size of the rods to the size of the ferrite particle. I'd give it an external plain epoxy coat to cover any exposed bits of ferrite from the casting though.

    Try using 38gauge wire then use polyuritine for isolation,and for isolation primary to secondary you can use epoxy then put it in vacum

    Electro, you are the best... I just love how you handle the shocks like a pro. I am a noob when it comes to electronics, thus I shock a lot too, but mine is accidental, thus I do not catch mine on camera.. You on the other hand is educated enough to expect it, yet you do it for our entertainment purposes while teaching us... I just love this!!! It will not however change my luck for not getting shocked... Maybe push me a little more to try and also make it entertaining...😄😄😄

    Perhaps the dielectric strength of the 3D printer plastic isn't high enough. It's definitely nowhere near that of epoxy. Maybe you could 3D print negative molds, and use those molds to make epoxy versions of the plastic forms.

    • @ElectroBOOM
      @ElectroBOOM  2 года назад +55

      I though that, but then there is epoxy between primary and secondary on top of the plastic, so I don't know it that buys me much. I suspect there was a bubble under the plastic in the epoxy I poured, otherwise why would the plastic bulge out so hard?? Not sure, have to cut the plastic and see what's under.

    You should have used litz wire for the primary coil, a single solid wire will suffer too much from skin effect because the frequency is so high that the alternating current will only flow on the surface of that conductor, being a high current will make it overheat. I have experienced it with a ZVS flyback driver running far below the megahertz range
