    I am a 2016 Olympic Alternate and former NCAA athlete and have deferred my senior year at the University of Utah to come back to elite gymnastics and try for a spot on the 2021 Olympic Team. This channel documents my journey and gives insight into the life of someone preparing for the Olympics!

      Wow! So much progress... building of endurance... and perfecting your routines. Your bar routine & your splits on beam were amazing... I was holding my breath watching your floor passes, you make those difficult tumbling sequences seem so easy... It is all so exciting 💓 Good Luck at Championships! Will watch (even thought about driving from Colorado to Texas to see you/the Competition)...

      I feel like she should keep the triple and ditch the Moors. It’s not worth the deductions a DLO would be better.

    You’ll honestly probably get less deductions on the triple because you normally take a 3 tenth step out of the 2.5

      Can confirm this as a gymnast. Your body hurts before you finish conditioning at the start of practice lol. Especially when you are "old". I'm the same age as McKayla and still doing this even though I'm not good enough to compete. I think all gymnasts must be insane at some level to enjoy a sport that is so hard and makes your body hurt all the time. Even when you finish doing gymnastics, almost all of us are left with injuries, scars, surgeries, arthritis etc. that will hurt for probably a long time after we retire. It's just too fun to be able to have such control over your body and be able to do cool skills most people can't do.

      @@MyKaylaSkinnerOfficial My first comment didn't tag you- can you read it and confirm that we are insane doing gymnastics at 24 and your body hurts every day- or is it just me? Maybe I'm weak because I can't do the super hard tricks you can do and I still am so sore and probably keep the KT Tape company alive solely. If you see this- can you please tell me or make a video about the different injuries/pains/surgeries you've had/have and what you have found is best for pain relief, muscle soreness and recovery? That would be a super helpful video. Us old folks need extra help- I already have arthritis in my wrist, back and knee. Could you make a video on how you find the energy to keep going? Some days I'm so fatigued from training, I miss practice. Would love to see a what I eat and drink in a day video, if you use foam rollers, get massages, acupuncture- how often. Anything you've tried even if it didn't work. I'm intrigued by the treatment you got for your foot with the platelet injection and then that machine that made you want to scream- did they make a big difference? Do you see a regular PT or a PT that specializes in athletes? I'm wondering if that might be more helpful. Please tell me all your secrets. Maybe a full week in my life video of how many times a day you get treatments, what you eat etc. I'll be in Ft. Worth cheering you on! Do you know if we are allowed to meet you guys? I would LOVE to have a chat with you or a pic.

    I just wanted to say thank you. For those who have never witnessed what chasing a dream is like... this is it. Raw. It comes down to pushing on those days that you just want to lay in bed, eat chips, and watch Netflix. When your body is hurting and you’re tired, but you still train. That’s how you get better. Thank you Mykayla and Jonas for sharing these updates because not many people have the courage or motivation to chase a dream, so now we get to witness first hand what it takes.

    THANK YOU for keeping those legs mostly together on your Van Leeuwen. I might have screamed, YES a little loudly while watching :) BUT PLEASE, Legs together on the giant before the dismount. These leg separations are a tenth a piece if you keep your legs together, bye bye deductions. I know who the hell am I but I really want you on this team and I just want to help. THE LAST ONE LOOKED AMAZING

    I really think you should try the triple for championships, its cleaner, its backwards facing landing, theres less risk of big steps forward, and you kinda just have to give it your all instead of measuring the 2.5

      This is what I like. At this point, more of a colleague to colleague and an athlete with agency as opposed to being a young vulnerable athlete with no life skills yet who is just trying to do something they love

    The pirouettes on the bar look a lot cleaner. Obviously, your dismount on bars is killer! You generated some nice, clean routines, despite feeling run down .

      I feel like she should do the front through to triple third pass, cause she does her full in like a backwards roll 😂 so I feel like it could go as her last

    That was a fantastically executed beam routine for someone who didn’t feel like doing beam. Great series! I don’t think there is a single person in the world who can argue the fact that you’ve made such great improvements on every single event!     The awesome part of your vlogs / other similar ones is that it provides a true insight into what it takes to get to your level in gymnastics.. Back in the old days, you only ever saw a gymnast compete, wirh NO insight into how far they've come. Here, we're able to see you build / add to your skills, and it's AWESOME, so thank you ❤️

    Just thought you should know that connecting the giant full to the dismount doesn't add to your start value. I think you should add a giant in between to help with the double double

    Has anybody else been frustrated with all of the people who have been doubting/hating on Myk? I have seen hate and division about other gymnasts too, but just more so on Myk and Chellsie. It has kind of gotten toxic tbh. I get that everyone is pulling for their favorite gymnasts and that can create division, but why do we have drag other gymnasts down in the process? Like all of these young women have worked their butts off to get where they are, so there isn't any need to tear them down just because you think they aren't going to make it. Anyways, I want to say I am rooting for you Myk! I love seeing the progress take shape. Good luck at championships!

      Sadly social media creates echo chambers. A few people say stuff and then it gets parroted and then it becomes the only opinion people are allowed to express. I agree it's very toxic, it's like a bullying mentality. Twitter is the worst and reddit is next, from what I've seen

      @@mrparts Most are trolls looking for trouble. I point out issues Mykayla has in her gymnastics some times PRAYING she will listen because I want her on this team more than I have wanted anyone on an Olympic team in 20 years. Most people you can tell are trolling. I would say it's a good 95-5.

    Trials is the competition that really matters. You are 100% correct. YES ADD THE TRIPLE FULL FOR TRIALS but ONLY if you feel comfortable. I would be more concerned with your laid-out, double double because if it is as bent as it was at Classics you're not going to get credit for it and we need you to get credit for it :)

    I think switching the clear hip full for the giant full was the right call. You're only losing a tenth of a point in D-score but you're definitely going to make up that tenth in E-score just because it's at the end and the endurance isn't always there. Also, your form on bars here is really really good! I saw like three leg separations and no flexed feet during the entire thing! Just do this at trials and you'll be golden!

    Your bars form at 13:26 looks incredible, I thought I was watching Suni 😂. I’m sad to see the clear-hip-full go, but I totally agree that the extra 0.1 just isn’t worth it. Keep being amazing MyKayla!

    I would say to keep ur routines as clean as possible til ur comfortable enough to complete the skill bc u have to weigh the risk vs reward here!! Point those toes and keep those legs together and u r gonna rock!! Good luck this weekend!

    Idk but i just love her bars, her edginess is soo satisfing or like idk how to explan it, its not super fluyd-and i like that. And beam, here split jumps - they are so quick and i love them, its not like a crazy oversplit and in here for it! Also i think you should add the triple Back to avoid the 3 maybe 5 tenth steps you do with 2 1/2

    Dunno if you've always done strength & conditioning separately (I saw one of the videos in a fitness gym), but honestly your physique looks really solid and strong comparing to perhaps years ago and comparing to your competition. Really happy to see a gymnast taking a more scientific fitness approach to her work...on top of all the gymnastics you do! 😱☺️ Best of luck, it's a pleasure to watch your progress!     I don't know how much harder it is but the triple twist looks neater in the air and seems to have fewer landing deductions than the 2 1/2, if you can manage it at the end that is!

    Has it ever been considered to just a do a nice full twisting double layout instead of the double double layout? Maybe I missed something or maybe it's harder to control for her but with the form deductions it may increase the execution a little more.

    If you feel it in your heart then I think you should go for it , you already have all the big tricks in the bag and might as well finish it off with the triple, it would probably look cleaner without the step from doing the 2 and half... your routine is so beautiful and so are you 💗 good luck , you work so hard and deserve the best 👌

    Definitely take out that clear-hip full before your dismount, like you said, you don't need to worry about that .01, but are you going to add full twist back to the Pak? That was an awesome combination!

    Your form on bars is looking so much better. I found it a little insulting how the announcer at classics was pointing out how your form didn’t look that great. I think he needed to think more about the improvements you have made. 👍
    I also did my first round-off backhand spring half at my last practice, and I could never even do a full of I tried. Your tumbling is so sharp, it makes me so entertained!

    The triple on floor looks so much cleaner than the 2.5! Go for it! When you feel ready of course though 🥰

    Yes, definitely do the triple. It looks so much better then the 2 1/2. Your jumps on beam looked really good too. The bars are coming along nicely and I just love your vaults. Keep up the great work and I can't wait to watch Championships. You got this!
