“I think it is all a matter of love; the more you love a memory the stronger and stranger it becomes” ― Vladimir Nabokov Ray Manzarek: Co founder-- the DOORS
Ray is a god. I saw him in Chicago w/ D21C. I was against the stage and was standing five feet from him. It was a spine melting moment I will never forget.
Well, he woke up and had himself one. I expect he's got a few more in the fridge ready? RIP Ray... if there's a jam in the afterlife, I hope to play with you there...
Actually it resonates quite well with the sad times we're having now. No matter if you ever saw him with your own eyes, or on film, he was so full of life. He changed us, and that's something we'll never forget. The music's over, but it still echoes.
Ray Manzarek, if I could ever get a response from you, I will consider my life well lived. You are the Maestro at keyboards which I took up at 27. I am 35 and am going to break into the music business like a thief breaks into a cornerstore. You, Jim and John will always be my heroes! I will blame the break-in on you!
Don’t forget about Robbie Krieger. After all, Light My Fire was his creation. Before The Doors, Robbie Krieger was a flamenco guitar player. They were truly a melting pot of music in this band.
How many keyboardists can consistently play a melody with the right hand and simultaneously a moving bass line (or any kind) with their left? Very, very few. Ray was one of just a handful.
Without this song the 1960's wouldn't quite have the vibe associated with the decade. Every time I hear light my fire 🔥I see go go dancers in high boots and short skirts shaking thier Thang. God bless the 1960's.
L.A. Woman album added some brass to some of their songs , but like the Allman Brothers , they lost their main man in 1971. I did not know Jim Morrison had died until I heard about Duane , I then realized why so many radio stations played Doors music constantly during the last half of 1971.
Are you using external speakers? If you are using regular built in laptop or computer speakers, it doens't pick it up very well. Use external speakers with a volume knob and the bass comes in clear and loud.
Ray is great, creative, unique, and had a very distinct sound that I admire, and I aspire to be able to play like him which is why i'm watching these videos, but I must say this hand independence display is rudimentary and this is FAR from "the best organ solo of all time." If you want to see some coordination and soloing, check out some of the more skillful organists like Joey Defrancesco, Tony Monaco. They are simply on another level.
MoveOverCasanova What is amazing about his playing is that he plays these really groovy bass lines along with his keyboard duties. It is harder than normal keyboard playing.
The soul of The Doors music are the Ray's magical hands.
Which makes sense because Bach's primary instrument was the pipe organ.
Ray also sang in Europe when Jim was out of it. Can you imagine? Bass with left hand, Lead with right hand, AND singing on top of it? INCREDIBLE!
I’ve often thought that,what a legend!
Best keyboard player to ever live. RIP Ray.
And one of the best bass players, too!
The whole band, 4 unique styles of music combining to create one timeless, immortal sound ....
Hypnosis And Magic
That’s why they were so great! It was a real band with musical chemistry!
I was able to meet him for a book signing. Awesome to meet someone so legendary.
I Miss you Ray... god bless you

The music's over, but it still echoes.
"Olhe para esse cara, ele é o Doors!" - Disse Jim Morrison, sobre Ray.
"Look at this guy, he is the Band!" - Says Jim, about Ray...
Merryist Christmas to Robbie Krieger, John Denmore and there family. Love you all!

One must be dead to be a legend. RIP Ray Manzarek

seeing the Doors perform this live and that bass run I am looking for the bass guitarist but no its Ray, did he not use a foot pedal bass?
i wish i could do that
R.I.P
Yep you gotta have external speakers to hear bass. Ray is a bad man.
There's no bass clef on the Vox?
when I read your comment, I cried
Wow, he aged really well.

If I can take anything with me it would be my children, my family, my friends and The Doors. There all the the same.
RIP
Hey I've always wondered what it's like to reply to myself
in the solo i hear john sebastian bach
I used to look for the bass player in the Doors until I realised that it was Ray, sometimes i think he used a foot pedal set up
Manzarek cooks pretty well but has anyone else heard of Ray Charles?
:3
Y do people down vote these videos
Joey Defrancesco he is not, but the Doors were one of the very best bands out of the 60's.
very split brain, to play piano with 2 hands at the same time. Are we really got so low that we marvel at things we considered usual yesterday?
He was Bach reincarnated.
splitting left and reight hand is the main task for every pianist, no special ray manzarek quality ))
MoveOverCasanova What is amazing about his playing is that he plays these really groovy bass lines along with his keyboard duties. It is harder than normal keyboard playing.
MoveOverCasanova he has no peers - who are you to attempt to belittle?
Who wants to buy me a Vox Connie
