- In today's travel vlog, we share our experience travelling from Bali Indonesia to Bangkok, Thailand. Thailand has only just recently relaxed all PCR testing and Quarantine rules starting May 1st.
We take you with us for our first 48 hours in the city and explain why our assumptions about Bangkok were completely wrong.
🏠 4 Monkeys Hotel Bangkok: book.justwndr.com/@lloydandma...
The first few things we checked off the list were Kaoh San Road and eating local authentic street food including Pad Thai, Green Curry and Mango Sticky Rice.

I feel proud for Thai people that foreigners appreciate things in Thailand. and if there is something that is not good for the heart I apologize on behalf of the Thai people here. I come from Thailand fc 🤣♥️
Welcome to my beloved country of thailand. I miss it already, since I'm stuck in the U.S. for the last 12 years working a 6am to 2pm job monday-friday as a mechanical engineer for Microsoft. My goal is to save a lot and then retire within 5 years an move back too Thailand. You both will love the food and all the sightseeing that THAILAND will show you.
R u Thai?
❤❤❤❤❤
I am not a "city person" when traveling. I don't mind a couple days but then I need to get out. Bangkok is different for me. I absolutely love that city and spend weeks at a time there when in Thailand. The small communities within Bangkok make it something special and the Thais, of course, make me feel welcome and happy. November 2022 and I will be back!
🙏🥰🇹🇭
We love your videos! We were in Bangkok one month ago. Enjoy Thailand, their beaches food and culture.
It's really nice to watch a travel vlog and not feel like the people making it are full of shit. You guys seem really genuine, like you're recording what you're actually doing day to day rather than the over-the-top performative cringe that most of these vloggers come with (maybe I'm just a sour brit). Really appreciate the helpful and enjoyable video! Thanks both
Loved Bangkok and Thailand….can’t wait to go back!
Omg Thailand is on our bucketlist, this was such an insightful video 🙌 love you guys.
Thong Lor is the place to stay! Awesome modern neighborhood with Japanese vibes. Safe and fancy. Not expensive also. We´re staying for 2 months in this area. Loving it!
Are there any places to stay there that you'd recommend? :)
@@StudhouseKSalil Hotel is Pretty good 👍🏼
you two are adorable. Having been to Thailand many times I am enjoying watching you guys explore. I love to stay at a different place each time and just explore and you would be amazed at the treasures you will find. Hope you are enjoying your travels and know that many of us envy you. Have fun!!
Wow this made me miss bangkok!!! You gotta try Moo Ping with Sticky rice while you’re in the city! Very well put together
Many Thais love that combination, for kids to have it as a breakfast in the mom’s/daddy’s car on the way to school.

Bye 👍
Its called the tuk tuk scam.. u guys got scammed.. hope it doesnt spoil your day!! love bangkok!
You should try Paragon food court in Bangkok. Travel by boats on the river, it is very cheap. Try to take sky train. Take motorbike taxi, it is amazing experience. Bangkok has to offer Northern Thai cousine, Southern, East and West. Do not afraid to try different regions foods. Try Durian ice-cream. There are so many different local fruit, which you will not be able to buy or try in your country.
Thanks will take a look
I have become somewhat hooked in your v-log, guys. I just asked you some questions underneath your "Is Phuket worth it ..." video, in fact. 😁
Hey guys... I lived in Thailand a few years ago and hated those atm fees. A quick hack I found out was going inside the bank and doing a counter withdrawal. Just wait in line, tell them you want to do a withdrawal, and they'll bring out that little machine and swipe your card there and give you the cash right there -- and you don't get charged atm fees because it's technically not an atm withdrawal. Hope that helps. Safe travels!
I always wonder that. I will try that next time.
Thank you for sharing.
Better still open a bank account in your own country that will reimburse all your fees. ING in Australia and Charles Schwab in the USA.
We love Thailand and have been there 7 times twice thru Bangkok. Where you stay is very important as the first time we picked the wrong area ( on friends advice ) did not suit us at all . last time we really loved where we stayed . Love the local feel and easy to pick the best food when you find a restaurant full of locals. I had read somewhere that they have cleared away alot of the night time street vendors over the years . We so loved grabbing meat on a stick as we called it from the street carts , then guessing what it was . So happy with how fresh and juicy it all was
Which area did you stay at?
@@MickyAM the area we liked and stayed in last time was near the victory monument. The shopping centre nearby called Century The Movie plaza had a Tops supermarket for supplies and snacks. The local food options were great and there were people set up on the pavement selling all sorts of food and trinkets. Not sure if this is still happening since covid. But there were reasonable restaurants in the streets around . Plus the train is easy to access there as well . We liked our hotel too the Pullman kingpower. Staff were excellent. Next time we will try somewhere else .
@@foodblogjunky , things are more expensive if you move to 3-4 next train station like Asok , Ekkamai ,Thonglor
@@tanarot5465 thanks for the advice

Mandy are always so positive in dealing a problem with laughing and smiling..
Well, you guys seem to know where you are going in Bangkok alright. I was surprised that you paid only 10 USD to ride from the airport to Soi Kao San. Thailand is food heaven for tourists and trust me that any where you travel, you will find tons of tasty food. Enjoy your stay guys.
I agree, and it takes much longer than 1/2 hour to get to Soi Kao San Rd from the airport, $10 is definitely not possible
Me too. Even I am Thai. I am using my son’s account. Also surprised that they got good tuk tuk driver, not charge u too much.
During COVID time, here has no traffic jam. Taxi or Tuk tuk drivers tends to be nicer than before!
@@TheLazywaveyes probably because there was so little tourists at that time. I was SHOCKED when my taxi driver turned on The meter to take from Sanam Pao to take me to Suvarnabhumi for only 264 Baht ! I gave him 300 and told him to keep the change…
My first watch for you folks. Loved the positive energy and realism.
Hi from Darwin ! Im really enjoying your dte vlogs they are so easy to watch with very practical content, I basically want to plan a trip to Thailand now and follow in your footsteps.
Thanks for the video, it will help plan our Thailand holiday for next year!
First time on your channel and I absolutely love you guys' energy and videos. I cant stop watching! Thanks for sharing!!
Loved this video! Really made me want to go back to Bangkok 😩 - don’t miss the humidity at all though 😅
Go In November. I was there last year abs there was so little Humidity, compared to going there between March-August which is when I have been there in the past.
Hey Lloyd and Mandy.
Enjoyed the vid.
Just to let you know, this video is appearing in your playlist, however it's not coming up organically on your channel, thus the small number of views and interactions.
Enjoy your time in BKK, it really is a great city.
I think you will both love Chiang Mai, it's pretty awesome.
Hua Hin is another fave of mine.
All the best guys.
Just discovered you guys when looking into a return to Phuket. Great content, looking forward to catching up on more. Don't be shy in letting us know what beers are best, by the looks of your eyes in this vid you put a few away! Love it, brilliant!
Hello you two…just subbed , really enjoying your journey, thanks for sharing..all the best!!
Welcome to my beloved Thailand and my friend to enjoined your trip, thanks.
Mandy, you are so precious! I love how you find the joy in the little things!
You 2 look amazing together. Your blog content are helpful specially to those planning to visit the place. ❤
May the two of you both be happy and be safe on all journeys. 😇🙏🙏🙏😇
Loving this series team! Just wanted to say your music is always A+
Thank you so much Jordan!
You guys just roll with the punches thats so dope. Just started watching. Will be going back to Thailand soon!
welcome to Thailand guys!
Anyway, I think the price of the stuff onboard was wrong because I just traveled with Thai AirAsia last week (from DPS-DMK) and the price of water is just 40 thb. So, it’s gonna be only 1.5 usd. When I paid to them 2 usd, I got change in thb! So, I f you pay 5.66 usd as you mentioned, it’s probably 175 thb which is very expensive for a bottle of plain water!! I think it’s gonna be something wrong for you or maybe miscommunication with the crew. And of course, rate is a bit different but it’s acceptable! On the other hand, if you pay in Indonesia Rupia, 1 bottle of water is gonna be 40,000 IDR as IDR is lower that THB.
Tbh, I agree with this comment. I think it must be miss understanding, because 5$ for a bottle of water is just nonsense. Since I’ve traveled with this airline many time, I know that they didn’t charge that much with the foods and beverages. Btw hope you have a nice holiday in Thailand.
It’s mineral water
Things are more expensive if you are foreigner , don’t worry .lol
Guys, if you are going to Chiang Mai, avoid the hassles of local bus and trains, it's a lot easier and faster and less tiring to just take a flight there!!!
I 100% agree. 😁😁😁🤜🤛
my new favourite vloggers!
Good thing you guys provided useful Information about how travel is these days; how to get a Thai pass, what Grab is and how to use it - and all that other stuff people need to know that is actually useful. Great vid.
I hated Bangkok the first 2 times I went to Thailand. 2 days was the max for me.
But now, I absolutely love Bangkok. Can't explain it. It's so ALIVE!
Same!
So sorry to hear your issue with Adsense. I'm Indonesian and I live in Jimbaran - Bali. If you need a permanent address or something to make it work, maybe we can discuss about it. I'm not looking for money, fame, etc. I'm just trying to help cos you guys have given good exposure about Bali and I think this is the least I can do.
Anyway if you believe in an angel, I probably one of them [in Jim Carey's model] 😆
Ok take care both of you and let me know. Cheers.
I swear that everyone (non-Thai) who has green curry, they tend to tip the rice into the curry bowl 😆 It’s funny to see that as we usually eat the curry by adding it into the rice and eat it by the spoon. But as long as you enjoy it, I guess whatever way you do it is great anyway 😁👌
I’m from Thailand but haven’t been back since 2018. Can you guys let us know which are you stayed in Bangkok? (Samsane?) I’m so excited to do cafe hopping, bar hopping and street food eating all day. I love how Lloyd just tried chilli from the fish sauce just like that lol Thanks for sharing!
I swear when I see swear spelled s-w-a-r-e.
@@stevenjustice105 Thanks for correcting my spelling 🙏
I had (yes had) many many many travels planned spanning over these 3 year..
but due to covid, it wrecked my cash flow and set me back to another 3 year before i (we) can go without any repecursion in work related thingy..
so yeah..
thanks for these comforting travelling vids guys..
I love Mandy doing the drinks promo on Khao San, too funny! 🤣
With air asia or any similar buget airlines if your fight is going to take longer hours, it is best to just pre paid for meals and drinks prior to departure or at the same time when you paid for flights for a better deal and more convenient. Nevertheless, all the best for Thailand stay!
I look forward to having another chance to travel. He came, we were glad. He left, we wish you well and good luck. 😄🇹🇭welcome
Thank you! 😃
looking forward seeing this, we fly to bangkok on 24 july!!! :D
Hi guys! Wish you all the best as you travel through Thailand. Might I recommend you go INSIDE a bank to get your funds. For safety of not using a ATM, highly recommend. Working for an international bank, it is something I always recommend to my clients. As a subscriber, your automatically coming up on my feed. As someone that is a longtime resident of South Jakarta, I appreciate your vlog's of Bali and also pronouncing it correctly! LOL........Safe travels and GBU.
@@carstensanonym7527 ...go inside the bank and ask for a withdrawal using your ATM or credit card. Show your passport.
Hello Thailand, welcome to both of you Have a fun and safe trip, may God bless you both 🙏💖
ขอให้สนุกกับการเดินทางนะครับ
The BEST way to avoid the ATM fees? I use my local ING debit card when travelling. None of these "travel money cards". Within less than 4 - 8 hours ALL foreign ATM fees are credited back to your Aussie ING card. Even foreign conversion fees; the same. Works a treat.
I love your video, it's nice, content is great.
I think the rainy seasons are different between the north and south. Something to consider when making your itinerary. Yay! You're in Thailand!
Reach out to Bangkok vloggers Dan the Man (English guy) and Keis One (Adam who is an Aussie) to run your issues by. They are both there in Bangkok close by to where you are staying and maybe you could meet up with them . Great guys.
I agree!! Those guys are really cool!!!
@@koalanotbear 100% reach out to Adam. One of the nicest guys around RUclips whilst Dan's probably one of the funniest!! Well in my opinion and they work so well together when they do their live videos together!!

Thanks so much
Happy to see easy peezy no hassle arrival to Bangkok airport! Glad the Thai government is doing this right! Was there from the US mid February this year for a month. Can’t wait to go back again soon. Have a wonderful trip and keep us posted.
Jim, welcome you back in advance!!! 🇹🇭🌸💛😇
i don't knwo whats easy peezy with travelpass and masks outdoors. it's amazing how easy the mass of people are don't care about stupid and obviously not helpful restrictions. After 2 years of p(l)andemic we really all schould wake up.
@@tombrandee7500 it’s super duper easy. You should try it!!! It’s easier than sitting at home denying life’s reality and living under a rock 🪨!
@@jimjanlekha891 not for me as I’m only healthy and not filled with poison! Moreover I don’t sit under a rock, was about 10 times in this beautiful country, have friends there , talk to them almost every day and now about what’s going on there
@@tombrandee7500 I’m happy to hear that! Obviously we have differences of opinions but that’s okay. Time will tell. It’s not only in Thailand but many parts of the world. Especially here in the US of A. It’s only going to get worse for awhile in this time of division and mass confusion but again, with time, we will come to understand what it all means.
Welcome to Thailand we love you guys!!
While you are in Thailand a must visit is Cave Lodge in Bang Ma pha, Mae Hong son province in the mountains of the the North. I ran small group adventures tours throughout Thailand and SouthEast Asia for 11 years and everyone I took there loved it and the area is full of hill tribe villages, caves and great walks in spectacular scenery. Especially good in the cooler months Oct-Jan/Feb. Super green and lush just after the rains have backed off and as the temps start to drop. Misty mountains and green forests. Women say Kop khun ka and men say Kop khun kup so the street food guy was correcting you in a polite way by saying "Kop khun ka" back to you when you used the men's thank you. When you go up North Mandy can use Kop khun jao as thank you. The locals will love it. 🙂
Loving “travelling “ with you guys.
Been following you around Bali ( myself been to Bali , 9 times)
I’m seriously hoping to get to Thailand 🇹🇭 in maybe September.
I’ve never been there.
SO I’m so excited to see all up & coming vids of Thailand.
That’s a real piss off bout GOOGLE, that’d be so friggin’ annoying.

I also love THAIRISH TIMES channel RUclips by Pete an Irish ☘️ guy.
He has lived in Thailand for 10 years.

The rain starts from around mid of May, also almost of schools in Thailand starts the semester.
17:30~ U(Ms.) were having kanaa (kale-alike/baby broccoli veg)& moo graub (crispy pork-belly)
Glad u like Thailand. The other foods from the street like this, u can try “Pad Si Eew” or “Radnaa”
Pad Si Eew is a kind of fried noodle with kanaa. ผัดซีอิ๊ว
Radnaa is a kind of PadSiEew with a little sticky semi-soup(made from corn starch+water) with. ราดหน้า
If u can copy those Thai written, then try to find from the net whether how it looks like.
They r one-dish meal.
However, if u r in the north, then try something else.
Omg you got absolutely TAXED on those flight meals! 🤯🤯🤯
Warm greetings from Indonesia

Good afternoon from Washington state guys sorry for you guys about the Bali, bangkok is just opened not too long, but becareful too, I'm came from there and takecare of yourself and have a wonderful journey and enjoy your weekend bye-bye 🙏🙏🥰
ขอบคุณที่มาเที่ยวเมืองไทย.คนไทยรักคุณ..
We just got back from travelling. We're also budget travelers. We learned from our mistake and always bring extra food or snacks we buy either at the market or at the airport. Although food is quite expensive at the airport, it's still cheaper than the meal menu on a flight.
Our driver was also browsing Facebook while driving last time we were in Bangkok and I filmed it too, lmao. Brings back memories.
Thanks video happy to you very much.🙏🙏🙏🎉🎊🥰😍⭐⭐⭐⭐✨🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭
Hope you enjoy your trip to Thailand
Thank you very much to sharing a wonderful trip to worldwide.
next time, if you guys need any suggests with secrest place in Bangkok or nearby Bangkok.
plz, let's me know.
I've been thinking about travelling to Thailand for a while now so it will be great to watch your content so I know what to expect! Can't believe they didn't atleast provide free water on that flight that's crazy!
air asia make you pay for everything as an add on. Leaving Bali one time my friends had bought water at the airport and were made to throw them out at the bag search before boarding the plane. Same happened to us flying BKK to Hanoi a long time ago.
Air asia is a low cost airplane company. Next flight fly by Thai airways cost more but serve everything on flight free.
Another great vlogg 😍 Could you put the baht cost of things if possible please?
Awesome now I know I can fly from Bali to Bangkok on my next trip out.
17:23 "Richeese factory Spicy ???" 😄😆🤣 U are so funny Mandy .that will be remind u forever LOL🔥
Thank you for this video. I really like your chill and honest vibe. The tuk tuk may be a scam. The driver gets a commission from the silk shop. There are other scammers near popular tourist spots. Sometimes they would tell you that the temples won’t open until later, and that you should do a tour with them first. But glad you made the best out of it. I usually use the prices on Grab to see if the driver is offering a fair price. Be on the lookout if it is too good to be true sometimes.
😄 ENJOY AND WELCOME TO THAILAND ❤
Thailand is a great place to visit. We never felt unsafe there. I have travelled with my wife n 2 daughters 2 and 4 years of age.
We now live in Australia if you need an address to sort out your Google advertising let me know happy to help
yeewww good guys, StraightOut ThaiLand beats Bali hands down 👏🙏🫶🇦🇺 you guys will luv it 💯😉🫠 also the spicy sauce with last meal is called “prik naam pla” which is chilli 🌶 in fish 🐟 sauce 🤤
彼女はすぐ笑うのが良いところですね👍楽しんで下さい。
A video from 10,000 years ago shows a similar couple describing the horrors and hardships when fighting off wild animals, trudging through snow for miles to gather food and watching clan members lose children to disease and hunger. Fast forward to the 'digital nomad' era, and there's intense struggles with over-priced airline food, hotel reservation systems and poorly-trained customer service agents. All-in-all, not a bad time to be alive!
We’ll come to Thailand. Enjoy your trip
At 15:55, you mentioned about the ATMs charging 220 Bahts as exchange fees. I was in Bangkok last month and still they do charge the same. A bit high, obviously, but that is the standard rate I believe. Anyways, nice video.
That thumb nail pic is amazing ❤️
Those ATM fees are pretty standard. When we spent a lot of time over there we would take out large amounts of money to last us a couple of weeks at a time to avoid paying them all the time. Cambodia had a similar problem as well. When you're on a budget those fees can be brutal.
Also... if you head to Chiang Mai, make sure you take the time to head further north to Chiang Rai. It's some of the most authentic Thailand that you will see and some incredible temples!
Next time if you try green curry again Should start by pouring the curry sauce over the rice verbatim. It will be more delicious than putting all the rice in the curry.
Will remember the 4 monkeys hotel sounds like a bit of me.
Enjoyed your video. Stay safe 🙏
Good video cheers every one 🍻👍👍👍👍👍😎🙏
Completely agree about breakfasts at Hotel if you travel for long. It used to take me at least an hour every morning to find a "worthy" place on some of my trips and it gets exhausting really quick doing all that research among other things. Lisbon for example was full of nice places and although we spent an entire month there last summer with lot's of covid restrictions, so places were not busy, it still took a long time to find a place and by then you are already grumpy 😅
