The internet continues to amaze me. This is exactly what I needed, specifically the space bar section. Thank you.

I purchased a renewed laptop its the same version, the keys were all sticky like someone spilt syrup, i spent a few hours cleaning all the keys but I have not been about to remove the mouse buttons right under the space bar. The left click is fully pressed in. Is there any easy way to remove and replace the key?

Very helpful thank you. I might have broken my new replacement key if not for the details in this video.👍By the way, the tips for backspace also work perfectly for ctrl. (and probably all the other longer-than square pieces except for spacebar)
Also, other watchers, keep in mind that the tiny 'lobster clips' are plastic and thus have fatigue wear. Try not to remove your keys unless you have to, and I don't recommend doing it to the same key multiple times unless you want that tiny piece of delicate plastic to break (I broke mine because I tried to clean under it like an idiot.)
Fatigue wear happens even if you remove the key perfectly because they're snap clips and the plastic has to flex during install and removal, so even if you do it perfectly like he did in the video, those pieces may still break and you'll have to buy a replacement like me. Trust me, finding a replacement key that fits your laptop isn't easy because even in the same laptop version, your retaining clips may be a different design.

I forget what brand it was, but many years ago, I was over my friend's house and she had her laptop out. Several of the keys were loose. They worked, but wiggled around. She didn't know how it had happened. As I was checking them, one came off completely and I saw that it had a delicate 2-part hinge mechanism under it that wasn't seated properly. After a little experimentation, I figured out how it went together and properly snapped down all the keys. Fast forward to a couple months later and sure enough, some of the keys were loose again.
I've taken apart a lot of desktop keyboards for cleaning over the years. The most complicated one was an Amiga 2000 keyboard. After getting one keycap off, I saw that it was an overly complex design with a spring and two metal contacts that stuck up, and which would come together when the key was pushed down. When the key was in the up position, it would separate the two contacts. I decided to put the keycap back on, just to make sure that I could do it. That took me so long to get it back on properly, that I decided it wasn't worth the effort to remove all the keys just to clean it.
