god bless you man, I repaired 4 or 5 of my keys with your help and saved a lot of money I would've otherwise spent on overpriced repairs! Love from Turkey :)
If you have a retainer clip that came apart, it's fixable! I figured I'd add this process here in case it helps someone. I'm not sure if the orientation of the pieces matters but I'll be as specific as possible since it worked for me. I have a Dell laptop, I'm pretty sure it's the same one in this video, so it should work. There's 2 pieces, the big one and the small one. Make sure to locate the holes on the inside of the big piece, and the pegs on the sides of the small piece. If you have an assembled retainer clip on hand, it might be helpful to use it as reference. Step 1: With the big piece, find the wider end. It's sort of in a wavy shape with 3 "bumps," place it flat on the table with the 1 bump up. Step 2: With the small piece, find the end with the wider square holes. That end will be over the wavy end of the big piece. Step 3: Slot the left peg on the small piece into the left hole in the big piece. Step 4: Use a finger to hold that side in place. The right peg should be resting above the right hole, not in yet. Step 5: Using a fine hook/pick tool, carefully hook it on the plastic beside the right hole. Then GENTLY pull it outwards, (if you pull too hard/far it will snap). The plastic will bend just enough to give space for the peg to slot into the hole. Step 6: They should now be slotted together. You can use your finger to test and make sure the pieces move like a hinge. Step 7: From here on you can proceed to reconnect it to the keyboard like he did in the video. I hope this is helpful, I tried to use the best wording I could for it to make sense ^^

Fabulous! It works!😀 In my case, the retainer clip had gotten detached from the bottom. It went off with the key. Then I removed from the key using a screwdriver (similar to video). Then I managed to re-attach it to the bottom (as in the video, perhaps by slightly pushing the metal hooks back, since they appear to have bent down under pressure). And then the key cap went back on. So happy!

Thank you so much man the video helped me a lot. Actually something was stuck under my ctrl key I removed the key but somehow the retainer clip came out along with key & on top of that the retainer clip also got separated in two parts. But when you said 1:23 I thought I broke it, but fortunately it wasn't, it just got separate somehow I managed to insert the ends of clip into each other. Finally, the key got placed properly over keyboard. I will never ever remove any key hereinafter and those fucking retainers are so delicate to handle it took around half an hour to attach them.

So happy!

@@PC_Monkey What if the two plastic components separate? I can't stick them back together
@@tommycesa1882 They fit together with a small plastic pin on the left and right of the inner clip. These fit into holes on the outer clip. To see exactly how the inner clip sits in the outer clip, remove another key cap and copy the clip under it.
Thank you. The video is very helpful: not too long and straight to the point.
Great to hear !! Always here to help :):)

They are sooooo breakable lol
Well done :)

@Alexander Stasevich If your Key Cap is not clicking down in place correctly, it is most likely due to the Retainer Clip not being properly installed or damaged. Remove the Cap and inspect for damage or that its not laying down flush and properly snapped in itself. Compare to another Clip if needed by removing another Cap.
HOW DID U PUT THEM BACK TOGETHOR
@Alexander Stasevich thx :)
Thank you so much, i use my laptop for developping and my '' popped off, your video helped me figuring out how to put it back

Thank you for this! Finally my ctrl is working~ but there are still 5 buttons thats not working ;-;
This video shows how to fix keys that mechanically need to be fixed. If you have that many keys not working, it could be that your keyboard is bad and needs to be replaced if they all feel like they are working normally
Saved me laptop and sanity with this video!!!

If you ever wonder why your video suddenly has a lot of watchtime, that's bcz I was following these instructions while watching the video to repair my "J" key and once I got it back in place I spammed it so I can make sure it works, and coincidentally that's the key which takes you back 10 seconds so uhhh, yeah you now have lots of watchtime, anyways thanks for helping me repair the "J" key. I actually broke the "T" key a few months ago and I fixed it myself without RUclips and I kind of forgot how I did it so I ended up here lol.

Hey Man, thank you very much for the tutorial, it does really help.
My office laptop left ctrl key suddenly stop working sometimes, tried reinstalling keyboard driver but not works.
I followed your tutorial then found few hairs under the key & that "white thing", I cleaned it with toothpick & cotton bud.
Now the left ctrl key works again, no more pain to copy & paste heheh.
