I abandoned dragoon when I saw they nerfed 99% of their moves (actual Nerfs, not just potency adjustment for the melee changes) because they decided to shift a ton of their power into their new level 90 skill. That rubbed me the wrong way on so many levels.
Monk doesn’t feel good. Nobody wants to say it but I will, MNK Endwalker changes are a failure. P.S. a LoT of people will say MNK is great right now, because they’re eyeballing damage meters on ACT. I’ll remind these noobs, that MNK is ALWAYS top dps after expansion launches thanks to Crit based dps benefitting at the start, and falling to high potency and det based jobs later on.
Wavering about monk and reaper. Monk was half of shb my main. And i like, that i can punch "brain dead" my enemy. I nearly dont need on my skills. But to the other hand: Monk is a little lame to watch and most of the skills lacks on visuell Impact (only in the trailer, they have Impact). And i lack the immersion, how a monk can fight enemy who has weapons. Reaper to the other hand are visuell top and it make fun to play him (esspecial the portal, "damm reaper, they create the 8. catastrophe, because they let open the portals everywhere"^^). And, scythe are semi optimal weapons. But, from gameplay, he is more risky. My eyes are more on the skill bar, because of all the procs. That let me less watch the mechanik of the fight.
Monk is dead to me, almost no positionals makes the rotation go stale fast. Big hit isn't under buffs and they took away prepull to fix that issue. ....
@@slimfastsubaru2043 You can make positionals, when you want it. You simply dont lose much dmg anymore, when you are standing false. I do the positions even now, because, of muscle memory.

@@qualling1 AOEs apply the buffs now and the 3rd hits of your combos apply them when you're using Meikyo Shisui. There's also some minor changes like making the positionals deal more damage, but also making those attack gain 10 kenki regardless of whether or not you hit the positional
I'm suprised MNK isn't being put into the "broken at day 1" category. Its level 90 trait makes Brotherhood GUARANTEED to proc off EVERY SINGLE WEAPON SKILL the party uses. This has insane implications on MNK's burst potential. You'd basically be double weaving TFC in every GCD if you could. If MNK's damage stays the same as it is now - which can match even SAM's output with enough luck - we're probably going to see 5.0 MNK shenanigans again. We'll see if SE realises how bonkers this is as well. Otherwise, have fun watching the boss's health bar get LB3'd by a MNK's opener every fight.
@@jakegibbs6003 Yeah, having just unlocked it, it really is not all that amazing, especially since they didn't bother giving us something to prevent overcapping which was already an issue. Now you can proc two chakra's off one weaponskill, which can be nice but man it causes us to overcap like crazy and we can't prevent it in any way.
I rushed a monk to 80, started out just to try it and it ended up overshadowing every class I play - I blow shit up as it is, I can't wait to see how much bigger my numbers get 👀
MNK looks fantastic and it'll be one of the first jobs I level. However, I think people are sleeping on just how nice the QoL improvements for SAM are, especially the Meikyo Shisui changes. Not having to mess with getting the buffs up will be so nice at the start of fights.

@@jahoiboi4870 Positionals weren't really a problem. The biggest problem is the low gcd and weaving 2 GCDs in between. They addressed it by removing some oGCDs and adding Nadi. But the biggest offender still saw no change. Chakra... Chakra is so unpredictable and with such short windows to weave it's a pain in the arse. Imo they need to expand chakra to 10 (2 charges of release basically) so you don't overcap and have time to weave it into the next GCD. Edit: also the monk needs something more unique to his play style. Nadi isn't really satisfying imo, especially compared to SAM.
I *JUST* finished leveling my dragoon to level 80 this morning and plan on making him my melee main . I like monk, but man the positionals were just so much to manage and in movement heavy fights were incredibly annoying to try and land every single one, even with their forgiveness CD's . Overall the changes look great for each class
Rpr isnt even best class. Its just over represented atm. And people who play it tend to already play well the other melees so for them reaper is something new to try. Red mage, machinists and summoner is topping my dps logs at the moment follow by monks and samurai.

Feels like a worse NIN atm. Everything the MNK can do, NIN can do better. The new Nadi thing sounds fun at first but it's super simple and they deleted oGCDs in favor for it. RoE is cool but a melee dps doesn't really need dmg reduction (great for solo content though).

Reapers are a guild of assassin from a lore perspective. Also there's Dark Knight already. Not sure what the hell you're talking about with the "darker oriented classes". Necromancer would be dumb as fuck from a lore perspective because playing with the dead is really disrespectful.

Dragoon and Reaper is the only two melee ill be playing . I dont really have a main lol i just play whatever class i feel like it xD I have monk samurai and ninja all at 80 but i dont play them anymore especially ninja cus i get attacked from party members in raid for learning the class and ofc i own up to my mistakes and yet i still get attacked lol
Well, having gotten to 90 I still think DRG is on top overall. RPR definitely has the highest skill ceiling and if played optimally beats out SAM, but it just has so much to keep track of on top of fight mechanics. DRG finally got is AoE fixed, and they really, really smoothed out our kit it just flows so well the only real tricky part now is figuring when to use our 2nd Life Surge charge (still can't pop it on any of our big attacks since they're all abilities and not WS sadly). Good damage + ease of use = win at least for me.
reaper and monk are very close damage wise, but Reapers defensive ability arcane crest is just so much better than monks riddle of earth ( seriously, why are there 3 stacks that go away after 3 weapon skills? it's really bad in general, but even more compared to arcane crest ) so between these two, I'd say reaper takes the lead
Can someone reccomend a easy melee job for someone who has problems with to many buttons? Played mostly Range dps (except BLM and BRD) and SCH and AST, but would love to spice my gameplay a bit up.
reaper looks like it has a lot of buttons but it actually has very few and the gameplay is actually quite slow with only a mere handful of oGCDs and streamlined "anti-overcap" gameplay that gives you flexibility in spending your resources. Other than that, monk probably has the second least number of buttons and oGCDs, but it really plays differently than any other melee or class in general so you love it or hate it.
I'm caught between doing RPR, MNK, SMN, and maybe SAM for msq. Its a big decision for me cause I have exams, and that might be the only class I can raid on until I get another job leveled
So what's the standard dps now at 70 and 80?before patch it was 20k+ and now it's like 7k on logs.iam doing 2k at lvl 70 on reaper and no idea if it's good or not
They have never been able to figure out imbalances by themselves. Let us count the ways lol. 2.0 WAR reworked after the community stopped using it because it was horrible. 2.XX multiple buffs to drg, because the community dropped it for the most part. 2.XX Nerfing Ninja after the community discovered a better rotation than intended. 3.0 had many but forcing cast times on Bard is all I need to say. 4.0. The removal and reintroduction of actions for SCH and other classes. I could go on but I think I proved my point. They might play the game but their priority is making it. The community is the reason things get fixed. I also left out that for most of these. They simply told us to get good and deal with it, only to later say they were wrong without acknowledging the community was right from the start.

@alfareon1701 summoner is still good after endwalker. You should try it instead of looking at dps logs. Summoners blow black mage changes out of the water in endwalker. I think problem with dps balance is that raids arent static encounter like training dummies. So bards, dancers, machinists and most casters do well except black mages until they get all their spells. In most encounter black mage suffer becos of enochian drop off. Now that enochian is a trait black mage just has long cast times on spells which hurt them during pulls. They have very limited skills that are instant casts like triple casts or swift cast.
the reaper, if played correct, tops as of now EVERY other dps. yes, even samurai! in every single aspect. so far was NO dps able to surpass me in bossfights (single target). when you have shroud available later at 80 looks even a summoner and blackmage bad vs the immense AoE which the reaper is capable of. reaper is by far the highest dps. in lv 50 dungeons and lower is reaper just overpowered, expecially in sastasha and the mines. not even a dancer with its AoE´s can keep up with the extra 10% buff which the reaper has. reaper is right now top DPS.
Ninja has been nerfed HEAVILY. The damage/potency of ALL important skills has been lowered greatly. For example, they lowered the potency of Raiton by 150. Don't be fooled by this being mixed into a combo. It now takes longer for you to deal damage! Also, Assassinate is no longer a guaranteed critical. Also, you can not longer use both Assassinate and Dream within a Dream together anymore, we've lost an entire ability; it's one or the other now. Also, Dream within a Dream's damage is nerfed. This is huge DPS loss. Also, Shadow Fang, our dot, has been completely removed,. This is a massive DPS loss. Also, Trick Attack damage received a nerf too! And by far, worst of all, once you see it you'll know it's time to quit if you're not an idiot and you're a ninja main is... the MASSIVE nerf to Katon. Let me help you if you don't understand and have bought into "oh cool! it's a combo now" that all the channels are selling. Having all your skills SEVERELY weakened and having to take EXTRA TIME to perform combos (which lock you into a linear line of actions) in order to slightly exceed your previous damage is a fucking nerf. You now have less freedom in the skills you choose and you need to take extra time in order to deal more damage than the last version of ninja. If they believed the damage was fine then they could have left the potency of the ninja abilities alone, and added on extra damage with a combo move - but they did not do this - They nerfed all your abilities then mixed in what seems to be an upgrade to fool you! They nerfed ninja into oblivion and you all don't even realize it yet.
They nerfed almost every physical-damage potency, not just NIN, and there’s a reason for that. “There's been a change in the way damage is calculated from potency - previously there was a difference in the formulae used for calculating physical vs magical damage so physical potencies had to be higher. Now they use the same formula so the potencies have been adjusted accordingly, so it's not actually a nerf in most cases.” Inform yourself before you start rambling, you seem super upset because of some numbers, yet you don’t even know what they mean. Calm down.
Sure buddy... ''Nerfed heavily'' (Laughs in top dmg in almost anything I run). It even feels way easier to play than before and an optimal rotation has such low down time it's ridiculous. Just last night, in a dungeon with a reaper as geared as I was, I dealt 41% of the total party damage. But yeah NIN is soooooo bad now /cry T.T. They nerfed all melee jobs the exact same way they did ninja because of the stat squish. Maybe test things out before crying like a spoiled toddler.
I wish I could get into ninja but I just don’t like it from a design and class fantasy aspect. I love the typical rogue/thief in western games but never cared for the eastern ninja variant of that archetype. Add on having to throw up gang signs in order to make attacks just doesn’t get me invested. Reaper and dragoon look cool though but probably not cool enough to pull me away from my primary love of big armor big weapons tanking

Monk have fenix strike which one used by Phaleg Ive from pso2 (she like Saitama but hot milf and stronger) actualy for change phase in boss battle. Well its my waifu and i become more mainer of monk then early with this update. But i dont like this new perfect balance because it stil have taimer how i can see in description and it no sens but monk always have something wich have no sens its like a tradition:D

okay, 2 misconceptions here, first, it's a lv 88 trait. second, it only applies to your own weaponskills, your allies are still 20% chances

Dragoon and Reaper is the only two melee ill be playing . I dont really have a main lol i just play whatever class i feel like it xD I have monk samurai and ninja all at 80 but i dont play them anymore especially ninja cus i get attacked from party members in raid for learning the class and ofc i own up to my mistakes and yet i still get attacked lol

Well, having gotten to 90 I still think DRG is on top overall.
RPR definitely has the highest skill ceiling and if played optimally beats out SAM, but it just has so much to keep track of on top of fight mechanics.
DRG finally got is AoE fixed, and they really, really smoothed out our kit it just flows so well the only real tricky part now is figuring when to use our 2nd Life Surge charge (still can't pop it on any of our big attacks since they're all abilities and not WS sadly).
Good damage + ease of use = win at least for me.
All will be fun af!
reaper and monk are very close damage wise, but Reapers defensive ability arcane crest is just so much better than monks riddle of earth ( seriously, why are there 3 stacks that go away after 3 weapon skills? it's really bad in general, but even more compared to arcane crest )

Can someone reccomend a easy melee job for someone who has problems with to many buttons? Played mostly Range dps (except BLM and BRD) and SCH and AST, but would love to spice my gameplay a bit up.
reaper looks like it has a lot of buttons but it actually has very few and the gameplay is actually quite slow with only a mere handful of oGCDs and streamlined "anti-overcap" gameplay that gives you flexibility in spending your resources. Other than that, monk probably has the second least number of buttons and oGCDs, but it really plays differently than any other melee or class in general so you love it or hate it.

I'm caught between doing RPR, MNK, SMN, and maybe SAM for msq. Its a big decision for me cause I have exams, and that might be the only class I can raid on until I get another job leveled
So what's the standard dps now at 70 and 80?before patch it was 20k+ and now it's like 7k on logs.iam doing 2k at lvl 70 on reaper and no idea if it's good or not
with the stat squish dps numbers are gonna change quite a bit we'll have to wait and see what the baseline becomes.
They have never been able to figure out imbalances by themselves. Let us count the ways lol.
2.0 WAR reworked after the community stopped using it because it was horrible.
2.XX multiple buffs to drg, because the community dropped it for the most part.
2.XX Nerfing Ninja after the community discovered a better rotation than intended.
3.0 had many but forcing cast times on Bard is all I need to say.
4.0. The removal and reintroduction of actions for SCH and other classes.
I could go on but I think I proved my point. They might play the game but their priority is making it. The community is the reason things get fixed.
I also left out that for most of these. They simply told us to get good and deal with it, only to later say they were wrong without acknowledging the community was right from the start.
And in 5.0 NIN was 100% trash while SMN broken as hell

@alfareon1701 summoner is still good after endwalker. You should try it instead of looking at dps logs. Summoners blow black mage changes out of the water in endwalker. I think problem with dps balance is that raids arent static encounter like training dummies. So bards, dancers, machinists and most casters do well except black mages until they get all their spells. In most encounter black mage suffer becos of enochian drop off. Now that enochian is a trait black mage just has long cast times on spells which hurt them during pulls. They have very limited skills that are instant casts like triple casts or swift cast.
I'll be the first to play reaper if he doesn't mind, stay with ninja or switch to samurai

Dragoon is more or less exactly the same as it was they just remove blood of the dragon and made it a trait.
the reaper, if played correct, tops as of now EVERY other dps. yes, even samurai! in every single aspect. so far was NO dps able to surpass me in bossfights (single target). when you have shroud available later at 80 looks even a summoner and blackmage bad vs the immense AoE which the reaper is capable of. reaper is by far the highest dps. in lv 50 dungeons and lower is reaper just overpowered, expecially in sastasha and the mines. not even a dancer with its AoE´s can keep up with the extra 10% buff which the reaper has. reaper is right now top DPS.

Not sure what they did to MNK but I kept getting 2 shot and destroyed on my BRD in PvP by them.
Ninja has been nerfed HEAVILY.
The damage/potency of ALL important skills has been lowered greatly. For example, they lowered the potency of Raiton by 150. Don't be fooled by this being mixed into a combo. It now takes longer for you to deal damage! Also, Assassinate is no longer a guaranteed critical. Also, you can not longer use both Assassinate and Dream within a Dream together anymore, we've lost an entire ability; it's one or the other now. Also, Dream within a Dream's damage is nerfed. This is huge DPS loss. Also, Shadow Fang, our dot, has been completely removed,. This is a massive DPS loss. Also, Trick Attack damage received a nerf too! And by far, worst of all, once you see it you'll know it's time to quit if you're not an idiot and you're a ninja main is... the MASSIVE nerf to Katon.
Let me help you if you don't understand and have bought into "oh cool! it's a combo now" that all the channels are selling. Having all your skills SEVERELY weakened and having to take EXTRA TIME to perform combos (which lock you into a linear line of actions) in order to slightly exceed your previous damage is a fucking nerf. You now have less freedom in the skills you choose and you need to take extra time in order to deal more damage than the last version of ninja. If they believed the damage was fine then they could have left the potency of the ninja abilities alone, and added on extra damage with a combo move - but they did not do this - They nerfed all your abilities then mixed in what seems to be an upgrade to fool you!
They nerfed ninja into oblivion and you all don't even realize it yet.
They nerfed nearly all meele dmg attacks from all classes. But, in exchance, the weapons should have buffs, to reach magical dmg
They nerfed almost every physical-damage potency, not just NIN, and there’s a reason for that.
“There's been a change in the way damage is calculated from potency - previously there was a difference in the formulae used for calculating physical vs magical damage so physical potencies had to be higher. Now they use the same formula so the potencies have been adjusted accordingly, so it's not actually a nerf in most cases.”

Sure buddy... ''Nerfed heavily'' (Laughs in top dmg in almost anything I run). It even feels way easier to play than before and an optimal rotation has such low down time it's ridiculous. Just last night, in a dungeon with a reaper as geared as I was, I dealt 41% of the total party damage. But yeah NIN is soooooo bad now /cry T.T. They nerfed all melee jobs the exact same way they did ninja because of the stat squish. Maybe test things out before crying like a spoiled toddler.

I wish I could get into ninja but I just don’t like it from a design and class fantasy aspect. I love the typical rogue/thief in western games but never cared for the eastern ninja variant of that archetype. Add on having to throw up gang signs in order to make attacks just doesn’t get me invested. Reaper and dragoon look cool though but probably not cool enough to pull me away from my primary love of big armor big weapons tanking

Like I said in the original comment, for that specific archetype (and most others tbh) I think western fantasy is vastly superior than eastern

Monk have fenix strike which one used by Phaleg Ive from pso2 (she like Saitama but hot milf and stronger) actualy for change phase in boss battle. Well its my waifu and i become more mainer of monk then early with this update. But i dont like this new perfect balance because it stil have taimer how i can see in description and it no sens but monk always have something wich have no sens its like a tradition:D
