This info is gold! You’ve shown a few different knit fabrics here but I’d like video explaining what exactly all these knit fabrics are and what are they all for? French terry, double brushed poly, spandex, athletic knit and there’s so many more. Help!
I made a couple of tops that I didn't place my fabric. It wasn't with the stretch. They weren't to tight, but tight enough. Now, I make sure I lay the pattern the right way.
Any tips on what to do if the fabric you want to use doesn’t have enough stretch? For example, it only has 25% four way stretch or only 50% two way stretch when the pattern calls for 50% four way stretch.
how can you tell if it has a four way or two way stretch? I'm assuming the other stretch is at the grain line? I have fabric that's 75% stretch one way and only 25% stretch when I try on the grain. thanks for the video!
yes, I look at the intended fit of the pattern and what I want it to fit like. I often times don't follow pattern recommendations if I have a different fit in mind. I know stable knits such as Liverpool have less stretch and therefore the garment will have a more fitted look. If the pattern has drape, I want to go with a light weight fabric that will drape nicely (those usually have a lot more stretch) just note that the fit will be impacted by the amount of stretch a garment has.

(stretched width) divided by (normal width), then minus 1 equals stretch percentage
This is exactly the information I need today. Thank you!

annnd I just found the video for that! ruclips.net/video/y7DGak6ugiw/видео.html for anyone wondering
What do you do whne a pattern doesnt specify any stretch percentage? Do you use any basic rules for what to use in those cases?
