  • I install the Guard Dog Keyless System into the Indian Scout because I kept forgetting my keys in the ignition. Apologies in advance for the less than useful camera angles..

    I installed this kit on my 2018 scout bobber when new, still love it to this day. I’ve left the ignition switch to the original space.

    Glad to see something like this exists... in this day and age, to have to take a key out of my pocket, and then leave it dangling from my motorcycle is just dumb.

      Or in my case being a dummy and walking away with the key still in the ignition 😅.

    Interesting mounting spot for the unit. I put mine in my headlight cowl because I have a bobber. How has it done with the engine heat under the gas tank?

      It's been perfectly fine, no issues at all for at least 500 miles. I have no room as it is in my headlight cowl.

    The GPS can be used without the starter cut-off, I'm currently using it that way. I'm gonna wait for warranty to run out before I install the starter cut-off.

      Yep! I actually decided not to do the starter lockout just yet anyway. I don't need it in for the time being

    Hmm the ignition barrel in my car broke with the key in it, in the run position, while it was running 🤨 fml. Anyway I think this might be a viable alternative to a $700 used column!! Wtf seriously its an old chevy from the 80's with no air bag, ok ok sorry for ranting, good video

      Oof I don't know how you'd deal with that one! Good luck!

    By any chance did you end up connecting the gps and the lockout? Can't figure out how to connect the lockout

      I didn't end up doing it, too much risk for something I wouldn't use very often.

    How much was the kit?

    • @Valorcycle
      @Valorcycle  3 года назад +1

      The keyless system is $320, but adding on the gps tracker and starter lockout will bump it up to $575 in total.

    Have you come back to this and installed the GPS?

    • @Valorcycle
      @Valorcycle  Год назад +1

      I did install the gps but the footage wasn't really usable so it didnt turn i to a video. I recall having to splice in wires to charge the gps. Let me know what questions you have and I'll help you out!

      @@Valorcycle Yes, I do actually have some questions if you'd be able to weigh in. The instructions state to connect the red wire to a constant +12v source, which I'm assuming is just the positive on the battery? The white wire requires a +12v source when the ignition is switched on, which wire did you use for that? My last curiosity is location, where did you end up placing the tracker? Thank you in advance for your help.

      @@RedMephis having an electrical meter is very helpful here, I stuck a sewing pin into a wire then held the meter to the pin. If it shows the volatage with the bike off, then you know its live, if no voltage off, but does show it with the bike on, then you know it only carries voltage when the bike is on.
      It'll be really hard to describe which wires I spliced into without an image. I'll try uploading an image to my community posts so you can see.
      Basically, my "always on" splice went into one of the 3 red wires that are grouped together that are connected directly to the battery, and my "voltage with the bike on" splice went into a solid brown wire.

    plug-and-play looks nice and easy. I just got the 'universal' one for my Moto Guzzi, so not much help for me

    What about the neck /handlebar lock

    • @Valorcycle
      @Valorcycle  Год назад

      I didnt end up installing it. More work and risk than its worth for me right now. I wouldnt really need it anytime soon anyway since I'm not leaving my bike overnight or in sketchy areas.
      Overall process is the same, but just need to find the right wire to splice into.
