I was told by 2 different doctors to get a breast reduction, but surgery makes me nervous. Then I got breast cancer in both breasts, so, I had no choice! The good news is it was a beautiful job and to get all the cancer they took me down 4 sizes. I don’t recommend cancer but if you are large breasted, I do recommend a breast reduction. My ex husband was abusive. He generally abused me when our sons were sleeping so I thought they didn't know. Finally one day while the boys were watching TV he was fighting with me in the kitchen while I tried to make dinner for my sons (we had already eaten out). As I moved from the stove to the refrigerator I asked him to please sit down and sober up. His hand lashed out, he grabbed me by my neck, slammed me against the wall and lifted me by my neck while screaming "Don't you ever turn your back on me!" As I struggled to breathe my middle son walked into the kitchen and saw his father strangling his mother. I had a horrified look on my face and my ex was smirking because he thought I was afraid of him (I was but was more afraid my son would witness my death). When my ex saw I wasn't looking at him he turned to see what had me terrified. When he saw my 7 year old son watching he dropped me. This woke me up and the next day I called around looking for help. Previously I was afraid to leave him because he had made me quit my part-time job and I wasn't sure how I'd support my children. At this point I thought I'd rather live in a cardboard box in an alley than raise 3 monsters like him. It wasn't easy but it was the best decision and my sons are now grown and respect women. Nothing worthwhile is easy so anyone in an abusive situation get out as quickly as you can.
Wow this is terrifying, I am SO glad you got out of that situation! My ex-husband wasn't exactly abusive, but he was extremely controlling (I guess there was a lot of emotional abuse). He never liked me working, and he would come sit at my work and stare down any men who had to talk to me (even coworkers). My manager eventually banned him from our store. Eventually, my ex convinced me to quit working. He framed it in a good light. Like, "oh I'll support both of us, you can relax at home and do whatever you want to! Write a book! Do your hobbies!" Etc etc. My naive self thought that sounded nice, but not too long after quitting work I quickly realized that this was another way he controlled me. Because when I made the decision to get a divorce, I didn't have the financial means to do so. I ended up having to take out a personal loan that I am still working to pay back five years later (worth it though!). I couldnt get the loan without a recent income history, so my mom cosigned it for me. We had to keep that a secret from my step-dad, who didn't approve of me leaving this horrible relationship. My mom probably could have just given me cash instead of signing the loan. But my step-dad never would have allowed that. I hate that I feel this way, but I have trust issues with men now. Even bosses, coworkers, my step-brothers, etc.
I haven’t experienced anything like this but I hope that people who have are happy and are living they’re best life and that they’re abusers are burning in hell
I get Botox for my migraines and ended up with a droopy eyelid one time. The neurologist accidentally got one injection in my eyebrow instead of above it and it was just low enough to affect the eyelid. He gave me the eyedrops, but they didn’t really do much. Several years later, he told me I was his first Botox patient. That explained the eyelid. lol Edited: I just wanted to make clear that Botox wears off after about 3 months, so the eyelid issue was temporary. I knew I was temporary when it happened, so I wasn’t upset and could laugh it off. The only lasting effect is you can tell which photos of me were taken during those three months. I look startled in them due to me trying to get my eyes open wide enough that it didn’t look like me eyelid was drooping. lol It’s a look, let me tell you.
I used to get it for migraines too, one time my neurologist put too much above one eyebrow so I could lift one but not the other 😂 my friends kept trying to get me to raise them so they could see my quizzical look 🤨 😂

I appreciate that Dr Youn has natural expression lines on his own face; some surgeons look bananas, not a great advertisement for their own work, IMO. His reactions to the needles in the face were hysterical!
That man with the fibroids on his face probably has very poor quality of life at that stage. I also love your answer to people coercing their spouses into getting implants!
If someone coerces someone to get plastic surgery they don't love them, they hate them. Surgery is something dangerous, I don't want someone I love to have to go through that if they don't need it. That is not a husband, that is an ill minded evil person. A good reason for the spouse to get a divorce and to never look at their face again.

I like your commonsense approach to patient care, doc. I'm 65 and definitely showing signs of aging. I've decided to be happy that I've been granted the privilege of living longer, and to focus on just being happy with who I am as a person. I had breast reduction surgery several years ago, one of the best things I ever did! It's not for the fainthearted! I measured 44 inches of incision lines, and it was a hard recovery for me. However, I had immediate relief from mid-back pain, and I am so much happier with my appearance! Keep up the good work!

Dr.Youn thank you for talking about the breast reduction scars!! My mother had gotten a reduction but for some reason her surgeon didn’t discuss about the extensive scarring. My mother has told me how insecure she’s felt about it and wish she would’ve known about how bad it would be.
Not very professional to not have been honest about the scars. Has your mum discussed them with anyone? I believe there's things that can be done to make them less visible. Also, not sure how fresh they are but they do fade to a certain extent over time.
@@nikiTricoteuse my thoughts exactly! My mother was horrified when they unwrapped her breasts he just told her “ they’ll fade somewhat but they are pretty much there to stay.” It happened many years ago, so she has since then gotten laser, micro needling, and light treatments. They definitely helped but I remember how devastated my mom was. Although her surgery wasn’t botched she felt as if she wasn’t educated on the reality of the scarring. As doc youn explained the scarring is very extensive but there’s other approaches that can help reduce it. It’s just unfortunate , but in healthcare especially in the US you have to do extensive research on medical treatments . As well as be a self advocate to medical staff because sometimes they don’t take you seriously/ take the time to explain things.
To be honest the scars from my breast reduction even though they're really severe in terms of size and texture of the scars (I had major life threatening complications) the only thing that actually bothers me about it is the nerve damage which happens to a lot of people after extreme breast reduction surgery. (G cup to A cup) my surgeon probably made me too small which increased the chances of the nerve damage and complications.
If u truly love someone then you wouldn’t tell your s/o to get plastic surgery. You would support them if THEY wanted it but you wouldn’t tell them they need something done to there bodies. Like wtf is wrong with people.
Love watching your videos!! You are always so polite and respectful to each thing, even when you seem a little shocked. If more doctors were like you I feel like patients would be more open and honest!!
You can buy these on Amazon to do yourself at home. I don't think he's seen the RUclips makeup artists doing a how-to vid. I'm sure nothing can go wrong with a bunch of needles and thread from Amazon in your face. 😬
My mom & me ran across a lady this afternoon that we sort of know as we sometimes see her as she parks in the disability spot next to ours and comes talk to us about... this 'n that. She told us her husband, who always was quite the character (not in an abusive way), had gotten Alzheimer's 3 years prior and now he had gotten loud and sometimes even violent. She had to have him committed sadly enough, but we saw her with a shattered arm (elbow joint replaced, plates added) and new teeth because she told us she had "fallen". We hadn't seen her since July which is a long time. My mom and me think we somehow did not get the full story on that, in any case, it is always a sad situation.
@@nobodysbaby5048 Yes, it's not his fault he has a health condition, the circumstances are just terrible but I am glad she got him into a psychiatric ward (good place).
I have a friend who went through that when her husband had Alzheimer’s. Thankfully, her injuries weren’t as severe. He never would have done anything like that before he became ill. She hated to have him put in a specialized care facility, but they could handle that part of his illness better than she could at home.

God bless you for your part in supporting a domestic abuse shelter. Back in the 70s I was horribly abused by my then husband. The police wouldn't get involved in "marriage problems" so I had to sneak out with my baby with nothing but the clothes on our backs. I highly recommend never putting up for one time any abuse, it'll only get worse. I thought I was going to die, then he'd go after my son. He ended up dead from the alcohol & drug abuse he'd started when away for an unaccompanied US Army tour. I will now purchase your skin care line. 🙏🏼💙✌🏽
Thank you Dr Youn for your honest and frank discussion. I had breast reduction surgery my 20s (I’m late 50s now) and never regretted it for a moment. Yes, I have the scars you mentioned but they are faint and minimal.
Ex was trying to make me feel shit and convince me to get laser all over my body. But he was sophisticated he said I hate hair let's both get laser. In my short marriage, i never saw him shave off anything other than his public hair. So, his hatred for body hair (arms and legs) was just on the female. I used to feel conscious about it. I am so glad at least I didn't give in to it. So, there will be plenty jerks who would want you to do things as they please but please dont
Thank you for being serious about domestic abuse as well as partners forcing surgery onto their spouses (which also seems like a form of abuse). Love ya
That fantasy reaction to the controlling husband who wanted implants was hilarious! I probably found it funny because when I was younger I had a boyfriend who was emotionally abusive. I took me quite a while to realize that just because he wasn't actually hitting me (yet), there was still plenty of damage being done. I walked around with my head down, was afraid of saying the wrong thing and setting him off, and generally let my inner spirit be starved. I have learned now not to put up with any of that, but it took a hard lesson to teach me. At least I did learn while I was still younger than 40; some women never seem to figure it out and seem to take perverse pride in complaining about their suffering.
@Violet Lee So.. you can have all the empathy and understanding in the world for someone, but if you're complaining about the same things for years and getting support from others to do something/be better/etc, the empathy well starts to run dry quicker and quicker. People don't actively want to be around a person that's miserable every time they see them, especially if that person isn't actually doing anything to get real help or at least trying to make changes/progress. There's always going to be an excuse, but that just means the will isn't strong enough for change yet. At some point, every person has to figure out that no one is going to be there for them all the time forever and you have to grow up. You HAVE to grow up, or you will be miserable for the rest of your life. And what's sad is that a lot of people are so okay with being miserable, they think it's the same as being happy.
@Violet Lee It doesnt always work like that unfortunately. You can empathize and support all you can but if they dont see it for themselves theyll never get out. Also half those people sometimes do it for attention, want to be pitied or play the malicious victim card. Dont believe the people who are being abused want to be helped or saved, I'm sorry but some like to live in those abusive relationships, it unhealthy we can all understand that but if that person was raised as a child abuse will see abuse as love and probably get out of one to enter into another one. It's a really sad rough cycle one must see it for themselves before taking the next step
@Violet Lee i think what they're saying is that, there are those who are abused, complains about it, and then sooner or later, gets out of it. And then there are those who complains and never does anything about it -- not because they can't, but they won't. So you can empathize with both groups, but the empathy for the latter group dwindles down sooner or later, because then you'll realize, they really wont do anything about it.
I'm so grateful for this type of content & Dr. Youn's compassion but seeing the man around 5:18 brought me to tears. It's a shame that we have so many successful, wealthy doctors and yet not enough of them are giving back to these underprivileged, suffering individuals

I hate when men are like “oh, I want this or I don’t want that”. Kinda like… oh, you don’t like makeup?! Then just don’t wear it! Stop trying to control how a woman looks!!
People are allowed to voice their opinions/preferences. In the same way an individual can state they don’t like makeup, another can state that they do (or wear it). Stating an opinion is not forcing a woman to stop wearing makeup. Freedom of expression is important too and that goes both ways: women/men can wear makeup; women/men can say they don’t like makeup. People shouldn’t have to censor themselves because another person’s opinion opposes their personal lifestyle. It goes for all things… makeup, clothing style, tattoos etc. A brunette shouldn’t be offended if someone says they have a thing for blondes.

I feel for the girl with the breast reduction, I had two. I was bigger than her and at 4' 10" probably shorter too. The first doctor didn't take off enough, so I went to different doctor 10 years later and I'm happier, but I'd still like more gone. I had a recent mammogram and it wasn't easy because of the scar tissue, but I'm all clear. 3:16 so I can explain exactly what's happening, every time an injection goes into the skin as you would know the needle gets dull. Now instead of that when patients are getting a lot of injections doctors tend to semi-sedate the patient to use individual brand new needles to inject filler where needed and each individual syringe is injected independently as to avoid any needle damage marks left over from dulled needles.

about the keloid... i had about 10 years ago this like a little grain of sand (that's just how it felt) in my shoulder that I somehow found one day and it eventually grow bigger and bigger that my skin got purple from it, it wasn't really moving and it was rock hard. So I just went and got it removed, now I have keloid scar there and even tho its big I don't care because its my skin color... the same thing happened not that long after above my knee when I accidentaly cut off little bit of my beauty mark when shaving and because I heard that it may cause issues even cancer I also got it taken out completely just to be safe... from this little mark above my knee I got purple scar 7 times or even bigger the original mark size, it looked like there was blood underneath and stuff so we cut it out again to see what was happening, turned out it was just another keloid scar that turned out that way and now i have even bigger keloid scar (which is ridiculous just to think its from that tiny mark xD) but again, its much more better looking than the first one, it's not discolored and its tight on skin, the previous one was poking out or how to explain it, i just didn't like that at all...until now I thought it was because my body was weird and was healing way too much to cause this and now i'm glad to know that it's just because of where i got the scars xD
I love the last video, with you playing all roles. I had a slightly different ending before I saw the one you chose: Husband: I want implants! Doctor (looking at him speculatively): We can give you implants. ;-> Husband: [Freaks out] But on the whole I like the one you did (even though there's no way of getting the husband into surgery for breast implants without him knowing about it beforehand).
Dr Youn, I realize that you probably will not see this, but someone who works for you will. I was a paramedic for 31 years. One thing that I used to really hate was when we would do an intercept with a lower level ambulance and when we would get there somebody from that ambulance would tell the patient that the paramedics were here and they will give you morphine now. Many times, I would look at the patient and they were talking on their cell phone, laughing at something that the person on the other end said etc. There was no way that person was getting morphine from me, but then they would get irritated because the other person told them that I was going to give them morphine. Kind of the same thing in a different setting, so I understand what you're saying.
The little clip that plays as you mouse over looked like she got massive implants, was so glad to see it was a reduction. Those were way over the top before.
I love your channel and respect you as a plastic surgeon. Unfortunately, the average consumer can't afford your products. It's just not possible unless you live a lavish life.
For cool sculpting, I heard that it works best for people who just have those stubborn fat that won't go away, and people should already be in pretty good shape. Is that true? How about if I just want it for my chin?
I went to get cool sculpting for under my chin. They did some measuring and said that it was not fat but skin that migrated south. I ended up going to a cryo spa and they are doing heat/electrod therapy to tighten my skin and create a nicer profile. I've done 4 of the 9 treatments and do see some tightening.

For the external leg fixator, she could have also had one leg shorter than the other; so, she's getting lengthening done, which entails breaking the leg and pulling it apart slowly until the desired length is achieved.
@@SemekiIzuio there's an episode on Grey's anatomy where a patient gets to the hospital because of an infection related to an external fixator. But there's a difference because in the episode the guy had his legs broken and pulled apart because he wanted to be taller.
Keloids also often happen with piercings! (That's what the location of the ear keloid made me think) So be aware of that if you ever decide to get a piercing! Your piercer should be able to offer some help if they occur.
Most likely she got a piercing done with a piercing gun, those are the worst a often create a keloid. The safest way (and the only one that should exist) is going to a professional studio and get it done with a proper needle.
@@paolaisabelmorenoceciliano9554 I've had professionally done piercings that form keloids until they are fully healed (months and months later, not the initial heal timeframe), some people are just prone to getting them - all my surgery scars started as keloids, too, and the older ones from 15 years ago have completely flattened out. The key is to keep up your aftercare regimen - including watching for the beginnings of a keloid. Listen to your piercer's recommendations, and if it doesn't heal or begin to reduce, see a doctor before it becomes permanent (who will make you remove the piercing, no matter what) which is why you need to follow your aftercare: but the good news is, if you need to take it out, you can pierce it again once it heals. Don't keep an unhealthy piercing.
Keloids don’t reduce without medical intervention. Many people get hydrotropic (not sure on spelling exactly) bumps which are usually reversable with time, care and proper aftercare. Always consult a reputable piercer and look after your piercings :)

A tumor was growing in my ball joint and eating away at it and that's where they couldn't do anything about it I don't know if I'll ever be able to get a prosthetic because you I was told by the surgeon you got to have your pelvis to have it but I don't have my full pelvis but what little pelvis I do have I can move but yes neurofibromatosis is a sucky condition
I had a keloid grow on both ears, but the right was quite larger. I had the right keloid cut out and because of how it grew, I lost a small bit of my ear. The left had a steroid shot and has a tiny, visually unnoticeable bump. I have to squeeze it in order to feel it. The downside of it all…no more pierced ears for me. Clips on tend to be hideous, so I stick to necklaces and rings.
I think the other thing that surgeons need to discuss before a breast reduction is how it would/could effect their ability to breastfeed. I’m struggling with it now, luckily I only had one side reduced so I still have one side that produces well.

I am planning doing it, too. Just pain all the time. I willingly take the scars to get my life quality back. How was the recovery?
I get Botox for my migraines and ended up with a droopy eyelid one time. The neurologist accidentally got one injection in my eyebrow instead of above it and it was just low enough to affect the eyelid. He gave me the eyedrops, but they didn’t really do much. Several years later, he told me I was his first Botox patient. That explained the eyelid. lol
Edited: I just wanted to make clear that Botox wears off after about 3 months, so the eyelid issue was temporary.
I hope the Botox wore off 🤯

I didnt realize you could get damage from going to small. Ty for saying that.
Do you ever have it the opposite way: does a wife/gf ever want their husband/bf to get something changed?
Probably, but either way I think it's not ok
If u truly love someone then you wouldn’t tell your s/o to get plastic surgery. You would support them if THEY wanted it but you wouldn’t tell them they need something done to there bodies. Like wtf is wrong with people.
Maybe in the realm of hair restoration? That's the only realm I can think of where men might be specifically shamed into plastic surgery.
Only if they want to and it helps them. Otherwise i don't care.
Imagine trying to force your significant other into getting plastic surgery- imo that’s a huuuuge red flag

The really awful thing is if he's Alzeimer's he may not remember he did it (if that is what happened).

If you were still with him (which I’m glad you’re not), you should wax his body hair

I bought your products for the first time and I absolutely love it.

I had a keloid grow on both ears, but the right was quite larger. I had the right keloid cut out and because of how it grew, I lost a small bit of my ear. it was pretty crazy the fat that left the body. But normally you need more than one treatment and even a few spread out in that area.
EDIT: one of the few cosmetic changes that I approve of and will actually spread the word about it working
3:05 was the best part of this video that reaction is amazing 🤣
my grandma in her 60s broke up with her bf in his 70s for 2 months to get a facelift, he never knew
That's hilarious!
Epic!
I'm sorry but the term "front butt" absolutely had me CACKLING at 3am

I had a keloid on my ear from a piercing. Not as big as the one in this video but I had it cut out 5.5 years ago and it thankfully didn't come back!! I didn't have the pressure earring thing though
