"An earnest, unapologetically tricky, and time-consuming trucking experience, SnowRunner's peculiar brand of off-road ordeals is oddly addictive, deep, and rewarding when played in the right spirit. It's not often we see an authentic, slow-paced delivery sim that doesn't baffle you with nonsense or try to upsell you a $2,000 jacket, but SnowRunner's no slouch."
I'm a truck driver in real life and then I play this in my bunk when I'm done driving for the day, somebody help me

Does this game feel accurate to the real deal?

@@blueredblack7026 I've actually played the European version (I forget the name, it's been years) and loved it.. Unfortunately I only played on console now so I can't play it anymore :(

TomPlusStreetwear Sometimes I like those games.
I played for hours and it is oddly addictive and extremely enjoyable. The graphics are beautiful and the physics surreal. I feel like a kid again playing with my Tonka truck in my backyard mud pit.
And pretending to get stuck while you bring in a 2nd toy to role play as the rescue vehicle
shouldn't the physics be real, not surreal?

Why? Because you share his opinion?
I'm surprised IGN missed the purpose of the unlocking upgrades by level system. Each map is supposed to upgrade in difficulty level as the player progresses. The upgrade system allows the player to match their vehicles abilities with the map difficulty without making it too easy. This also encourages the player to play each map in order as opposed to skipping around. Especially with the planned DLC coming out. The developers didn't want someone just starting out at level 2 and be able to go knock out Taymyr, let alone Kola Peninsula. If by chance you do try such a feat, the difficulty level will match what the player was hopefully expecting. I played the maps in order and reached level 30 (the max level) by the time I was completing Taymyr. Even at max level the DLC Kola Peninsula is rather difficult. Michigan would be way too easy at max level. Besides this, I do however agree with the rest of the points made in this video. Well done.
*Cheers*
Ive been tempted by free mods for top of the line vehicles but decided not to and just work for it...
As somebody who grew up on farm horse farm for 28+ yrs (now in my 40+s) and always dealing with mud in fields, using older tractors. Waight in snow runner doesn’t help. When In in real life it VERY much can help. Depending on the vehicle/ground conditions and where your trying get too. Many years we use weighted tires, putting more weights on 2 wheel tractors so get better traction’s. As said we had few tractors that were not 4x4 and had use what we could get job done. Didn’t matter if was Harold with disc, cutting grass in soggy ground or on slop or using blade move heavy snow in 2x4 old tractor. Using chains tires/ Weights and skill.
Can’t believe devs missed this. And body who grew up on farm or used farm tractors or equipment/trucks knows this. Load up big old trucks/tractors with more weight. It will help with traction, as long don't over do it and not on skinny tires and not bald tires.
Do love the game but yes it’s very frustrating and feels like need another month to cook/be tweak more. The trucks engine /sound and power is very weak. Feel very under power of a 50 hp engine vs closer too 200hp for most basic v6 or v8 engines . All trucks engines need about 10 to 20% performance boost imo. They all feel like law-morrow engine then v6 or v8.
I found it dose help on single axle trucks or with extreme weight
Surprised Amazon hasn’t released a delivery version that helps train people how to remotely drive future trucks...
Considering how much I enjoyed Death Stranding, this looks right up my alley.
Damn.... I don't know what to say
Alon Mercer I caved in and bought Death Stranding. It was too boring to continue beyond an hour. I haven’t played it since.
Its much like DS, but in smaller, shorter treks/burst. Just as fun and rewarding.
@@GreekIrish In that case the previous games are too... Mudrunner and Spintires. (The tech demos too.)
@@michaelangel25 if you played only one hour then you didn't really play it at all.
Funny how the best game engine in a while has come out for a game about a truck boi.
We’ve been playing on this engine since 2014
McBurgle technically over 75% was made using swarm (literally just came out and most AAA devs and games don’t use it yet) which enhances graphics while also using less PC hardware. without getting to geeky this is a PC gamer’s paradise
@@McBurgle nope, this is a new engine. The first game that used it was World War Z.
I’m oddly interested in this game. Problem is I know if I got it I’d play it for a few hours then put it to the side
Mister Negative try mudrunner first then. It’s on game pass if you have an Xbox
yeah, but Isn't it what we do when we watch a movie?
As long as it was awesome couple hours and the price is right - why not!
Mister Negative yup same here
I bought it on the ps store the day it came out it is so fun specially the co-op
It's a bit overpriced right now, but if you wanna check it out without dropping $50, try Mudrunner instead.
Wow the second strand type game
Akshay it really makes you FEEL like a truck
It was first strand type game tho, it's third game in the series "Spintires".

The original Mudrunner came out way before death stranding. So you could consider this the 3rd strand type game >_>
Ah, the best game reviewer we meet again!
Yes. He is IGNs best.
Yep
Yup agrer
IGN: "Snowrunner is punishing and sometimes merciless but rarely outright unfair"
Random rock in the middle of a road: "Watch and learn amateur"
I have to admit, didn't have great expectations from this.
Glad I was wrong.
I remember seeing this advertised randomly before a video, normally I just skip ads but this one hooked me.
This game looks like fun, I hope they consider VR support! It would be so cool to negotiate that rough terrain from the viewpoint of the cockpit!
Haha really enjoyed spintires, then mudrunner and been playing this for about 4 hours and I'm hooked. I've rolled more than a few times. I'm a life time off roader and this is great when I've been told not to leave my home in our current situation.
It's tough at first don't give up. It's worth it.
This game is so much fun. Didn’t expect much when I first bought it about 6 months ago. I’ve been playing it Non stop ever since.
I love this game! it's made me angry, frustated, sometimes sad, sometimes feeling ill! but that feeling... of lugging a few crates of bricks through a mountain pass, knowing pure diaster is moments around the corner should I make the slightest wrong move is so rewarding once you get it to safety, I have no idea if "real life trucking" is AS punishing as this, I think every mission in this game would be a "bad day" for a typical truck driver, but great fun, takes many hours sometimes to get anywhere, I spent the first 5 hours working out how to do a couple of missions for example.

This has been up there as my go-to game for the last 2 years.
Completed Michigan on XBOX and restarted and put 100+ hours on Steam now just playing through with friends and helping them out.
Most satisfying, rewarding and chill game 👌🏻
Never thought I’d even look at this game but admittedly, some of the gameplay looked interesting.
i had no interest till i watched a guy playing on youtube. now i've got it and i'm hooked. it's a great game to relax to while playing -and it's really fun when you can play with other people and coordinate getting jobs done.
It's like death stranding without BTs and 40 hours of stupidly written cinematics and bad combat.
10/10
For once I actually agree with an ign review. Your criticism is spot on, yet the game is highly addictive and despite its frustrating menu and map navigation I’ll probably sink hundreds of hours into this.
Even though I'm quarantined with literally nothing to do it still blows my mind just how many hours it's going to take me just to finish Michigan lol.
Just started playing this game. And damn does it remind me of great games of the past. Such a rewarding game to play.
Best reviewer on the channel! Might pick this game up.

Is this one of those strand type games I’ve been hearing about?
Yeah strand type games are here to stay
Can't wait to get this game..
As soon as it hits 10$ below
It looks so pretty, damn.
That was my main problem with mudrunner. This looks pretty cool too
Yeah it look awesome in 4k. They did a great job.
ACforlife 123 i actually like mudrunner’s aesthetic.
its like the car version of FS2020..
This looks very frustrating, but also very rewarding when you get to your destination.
Mr Man 306 it’s not very frustrating it’s pretty fun even when you’re stuck
i guess it could be frustrating if all you want to do is run as fast as possible from point a to b. however, the big hook in this game is adding new parts to trucks and the strategy needed to conquer the enviroment - like, making sure to use the right truck and knowing how to look ahead for winch points.
It's so weird, seeing bunch of gaming nerds taking intrest in what was once a niche game franchise for truck enthusiasts. Lol it's cool to see tho
Don't trust a word he says, he plays inverted
Mirror your monitor and headphones to getthe real review.
......I play inverted. Ppl don’t trust me either.
Inverted for life! Thanks Goldeneye!
My buddy use to always say this and then proceed to ask why I play inverted. I really never knew why. I just knew I couldn't play it the regular way...
I honestly kinda wanna just play this game to use the scout vehicles to go off-roading
This review was spot on! Great job!! I like the game, but it does have some frustrating problems as you mentioned! At least in spintires and muddrunner you start off with the right gear for the job and can have fun right away.
Just got it for sale 27.99 on eshop. Going to have a blast playing during shining diamond and arceus breaks.
My only gripe so far is the vehicles are extremely slow on plain paved roads. I understand the need to drive slow but on a main road in my pick up truck I'd expect my top end to be more than 15mph. Not to mention my truck is drifting at 15mph
In my opinion I wish the developers put a option for a manual transmission in the game that would be sick!!!!
I was looking for a driving simulator for those days you just are not up to adrenaline racing. This looks just perfect... Slow but with skill involved. Thanx for the great review
Game of the year.

Watching the hummer bumping around is oddly satisfying lol
(Death stranding: truck edition) I'll give it a try, this new stranded genre seems to be on the rise.
The spintires/mudrunner games have been out for over 6 years I believe. Maybe this style of game will get more popular since Death Stranding had a big studio and the mainstream gamers behind it. Im all for that!

Surprised that nobody in the comments has ever heard of or played Spintires or (Spintires) Mudrunner.
CurryKingWurst I’m surprised at how many people here don’t seem to care about off-roading. They’re just now discovering a niche that has had a thriving community for decades.
I only played the SpinTires demo with the heavy truck and small offroader at the start
I loved Death Stranding and also fairly enjoyed Euro Truck Simulator. Will I enjoy this? I already know the answer, it’s yes. The answer is yes and I’m going to get it. Thanks
do you have to haul nitroglycerine??... love those classic films The Wages Of Fear and Sorcerer, the bridge scene in Sorcerer is just incredible.
The game is awesome! Addictive and therapeutic
So Sam bridges is a truck driver now?
It makes you FEEL like a truck.
I dunno... if anything, the game makes me feel like the mud
You can make a game about anything these days. But the physics are crazy!
What about its co-op missions? They did speak about it on the trailer.
Playing with a friend, for us only the host can accept missions but they can work together on them or host just accepting more missions and each do his own. Joining player gets rewards for completed mission in money and experience. There's towers that reveal area around them including vehicles and their upgrades. Seems like right now you should reveal all towers in the map yourself in solo play so you can get them in host's session. On his map you see what he sees (except the upgrades you already took in your map). Got one upgrade two times from the same place this way... now we just use maps we both explored towers in in solo session, to evade this. We get some disconnect issues here and there but overall it's holding okay. Only, as a joining player upon reconnecting you lose your cargo and have to drive out from garage again empty.
Was the title Trucking Hostile intended to be a reference to the Pantera song Fcking Hostile?
They failed to mention, this is a 100 hour game lol!
Had some fun but found it very frustrating there weren’t more garages on the map and the UI is not intuitive.
15 million subscribers and you blow out everyone's eardrums with terrible audio balance. thanks for the free tinnitus IGN
My question is whether it's worth the "new game" price. I can scratch the Spintires/Mudrunner itch by playing the previous games in the series. So if it's just the same physics with new trucks and new maps, I'll wait for a sale.
New game engine (previously was Havok, now it's a proprietary Saber Interactive engine - the one that was used for World War Z, too), new and way better graphics (it looks top notch, top AAA level of graphics - especially on PC) and a lot more colorful + improved physics, new and way bigger maps, new and a lot more trucks, customization of the trucks, a lot of different activities (in Mudrunner you only transported wood), snow maps, the interior of every truck is very detailed.
About the price, if you ask me it worth even more. The maps are huge, there are a lot of activities and there is diversity in there, you have way more than 100h of gameplay.
@@lordsilver14 Yeah after I did a couple days of reading reviews and watching footage, I decided I would go ahead and get it. What you said is spot-on. It's far and away better than the previous two games, and well worth the purchase. It's not for everyone though, but fans of trucks in the mud are gonna love this game.
As a truck driver I'm interested,But when it gets cheaper .
i'd have never considered buying a trucking simulator, but this seems oddly fun...
It really is. Besides this, the game is huge, 11 big maps and a lot of activities to do.
The gameplay of mudrunner on adrenaline and the graphics of RDR2. 10/10

This review is so accurate. All your cons are valid and are the big issues with the game and yet it’s still a solid game, if you like trucks or sims in general.
Love the Pantera pun to open the review 😂👌 Trucking Hostile! 🤘
I might be going on an Australian outdoorsman sort of stereotype, but the reviewers voice gives this video more authenticity for me. Just sayin’.

Any news on Phase 1 update?
Also any news on cargo/vehicle/trailer bug???
I'm on ps4. Really liking the game so far other than the mentioned high speed handling, especially on small trucks. Also, the music is glitchy in the game. Some of it has certain parts, such as the guitar cutting in and out on occasion. Hopefully that will be patched quickly.
Does the game run smoothly? I heard the console versions run 30fps
@@wetnoodle3013 I dont know what the framerate runs at. I'm on PS4 Pro. But GTA V looks bad to me as far as fps. This doesn't. Or maybe it's because you don't tend to go very fast.

Woah. An actually beneficial review by IGN?
He should have also mentioned how changing time of day and switching between trucks is basically instant (in terms of loading times)
I flipped the same exact truck and trailer on the same exact corner at 1:12 last night 😂
my whife hates spin tires more than anything and cannot understand why i put so many hrs into it...
Well, seeing as road trips and off roading are out, we might as well try this!
anyone else have vehicles dissapear on them? my hummer fell through the map and dissapeared, my scout 800 and kodiak dissapeared while sitting outside of the garage and my navistar dissapeared while in storage. very frustrating, i don’t have any big rigs anymore all i have is a k1500 and a bunch of trailers.
I'm a software developer. I started looking for trucking jobs after playing this game for 20 hours.
Hideo Kojima taking tips for Death Stranding 2
No problems with the camera here 👌 also, what would be the point of having everything unlocked at the start? Makes you want to progress and actualy think about what tasks you can do and which ones you are too unequipped for. The only thing you could really say about the game is lack of hardcore mode (for now)
what I'd like to know more is the variety of vehicles available. Caterpillar, ford, dodge, john deere, etc. And is snowrunner more russia based while mudrunner U.S. based?
No mention at all about the Co-op mode
I haven't yet gone deep in the upgrades side of things but I feel that moving through snow and mud is made a bit harder than it is in real life. I've gone in deep snow with fwd car and some decent winter tires and it goes way better than in the game with a 6x6x6 truck...
I did not expect a Peaches reference! Kudos!
This is what Death Stranding tried to capture (rewarding patience).
