I haven't invested a huge amount of time into Snowrunner etc, but I love that games like these exist, and long may they live!

As someone who spends much of their time exploring Moab. This is a series that I’ve always wanted to love but could never get into. Maybe I’ll try again but I’ll probably wait for sale.

Definitely. I was thinking of Death Stranding while watching these clips and would be cool if Death Stranding 2 adopted some of these mechanics.
In death stranding you can drive on ladders, so i made paths for motorcycle everywhere.
@@GamingCentral3000 Snowrunners had a trailer that was a total spoof of Death Stranding, because they are very similar games.
I'm 6 months late to your comment but yes, this would elevate the game even more. The vehicles were fun enough in DS1, but they were very arcadey.

@@charlesmiv3842 im at around 70% Michigan. Are we supposed to play Alaska before even finishing Michigan? I feel I should play it linearly, one level at a time. But Im a bit tired of Michigan already. Can get pretty tough
@@neonpop80 You can play the maps aa soon as they open. I originally was going to play SnowRunner in linear fashion, but eventually just hopped around from map to map depending on what I wanted to see at a given time.
I've been a huge fan of the series for many years and I really like the direction there going in. The lack of coop doesn't bother me as I prefer playing these titles in single player, it just adds to the difficulty. Looking forward to playing it tomorrow morning.

I remember playing SpinTires back when it launched, I am really not sure what made me want to try it but it was different. I am really glad to be part of this games history to where it is now. SnowRunners was fun but i feel Expeditions will give me more of what I enjoyed about that original game in terms of setting/lighting and objectives.

been playing since spintires too, spintires was really just a sandbox not a game...it was pretty much a tech demo snowcasing the mud physics
with mudrunner it started to feel a bit more like an actual game but was still just a few very simple objectives per map
snowrunner really made it into what feels like a complete game with sense of purpose to the driving and almost endless amount of objectives to keep you busy playing for months
personally I don't find this spinoff very appealing, I prefer the transport/build/repair missions to the scout missions and having fleet of cars I can combine to do the job and rescue flipped truck with
but there are some interesting new ideas here like the drone for scouting, tire pressure control and even the anchor for traversing...would love to see them added to future main snowrunner games
also that driving inside the bunkers and caves looked really cool....I would welcome such missions inside the main franchise for variety but don't necessarily want a game consisting of that mission types alone
@@HeadBassVTEC I agree, I feel most of the features in expeditions could’ve been added to Snow Runner through DLC or free updates. I tried playing expeditions the other night and ended up just going back to Snow Runner. The aesthetics of Snow Runner is so much better too.
Sounds like Snowrunners was Empire to Expeditions Return Of the Jedi. I was expecting a bit more but this still looks great nothing else really does what the Runners series does and it's one of the few sim games my group will engage with as it's just as good with a controller as a wheel

I haven't played this series but it kind of reminds me of Death Stranding traversal. I'm intrigued.
That's the vibe I got when I played snowrunner last year. Finishing a long job gave off thr same feelings as planning and completing a long delivery in death stranding. Actually found myself yearning for a "contribute towards the construction of a persistent motorway" feature from death stranding in snowrunner
This has been said and noted for Snowrunner. It's Death Stranding with trucks. If you loved one you'll love the other
Honestly, I'm pretty excited about how this game seems to switch it's play style from the previous titles. MudRunner/Snowrunner have always been those games I go back to for an hour or two at a time and then put down, and this sounds like one I can do that with but feel like I'm accomplishing a bit more.
You have always done justice to this "Mudrunner" series & make them quite enticing!

While this game still seems interesting to play, 'Pacific Drive', in a weird way, gave this game an uphill battle (for me). Because, yes, while that game is more about survival in the more abstract way and not simulation of a vehicle and traversing terrain "realistically", it does throw a lot in the mix that gives the incentive to play, as well as immersion, with things like being able to get out of your car and fixing or changing it on-the-fly. - It seems like you ARE the car more in these games, more than the driver in it needing to maintain the car, even though you drive it. I mean, you never get any external influence other than, I suppose, using a magic winch and stuff like that, without getting out of your vehicle. - I would've really liked to see that departure, in a good way, where they'd incorporate a light "mechanic simulator" into it, which would also allow you to check the immediate environment before you'd risk your vehicle, as you would in reality (though I suppose the drone-feature is a version of that, except just for greater distances).
That said, I get that this game is supposed to be more rudimentary in terms of the events that happen, as opposed to crazy fantastical things. Where the slower/methodical traversal is more a downside in something like 'Starfield' and kind of an upside in 'Death Stranding' (though, the latter of course has a lot of nutty things going on outside of traversal, where 'Starfield' isn't interesting enough to most in general). - The point being, I wonder how interesting it remains to play this game as opposed to how, now, something like 'Pacific Drive' really pushes me to want to play and traverse with difficulties. I mean, the objectives and things you can encounter, are they interesting enough to keep playing for... Again, the bar is of course different, whereas 'Pacific Drive' is more about throwing you in the deep end of a mystery, trying to keep you on edge all the time, "MudRunner" is more like going on a casual trip or on a job in a way. But again, for how long will that be interesting... I don't know. - I'll probably still end up playing it, but I just don't know for how much.
(Just a note for anyone who wants to go "Why tf are you comparing those 4 games?? They aren't even in the same genres.": It doesn't matter, it's about their styles of traversal as well as incentives in terms of objectives and rewards, which does decide how interesting or engaging a game is and if the style of gameplay is worth... well, playing.)

I'm kinda hoping they add a little more with some DLCs down the line. For now, I think I'll stick with Snowrunner since there are still some maps I haven't explored yet. Overall, I'm just happy these types of games even exist. Great review at always!

As someone with 2 - 3K hours in Mud Runner and Snowrunner, when asked about them I have always said they are at their core more puzzle game than driving sim. Never expected a title that leans more heavily into the puzzle type mechanics this much. Not real excited about the game but I will give it a shot.
I spent a lot of time completing almost 80% of Snowrunner, but I got real tired of a few missions because they’re so long and if you screw up, you have to start them over. Therefore, I never finished the game because I got a bit dismayed with it. Thinking about Expeditions now, as the missions may be more my type without frustration getting the most of me.
I'm glad you're criticising the sound. The game is like a 8/10 in every department except the sound, which I would give a 3. There is so so so much repetition. In Snowrunner you hear the same crow and twig snapping sound about 20 times an hour. The engine also sounds really basic and repetitive like you said. I really wish they would improve this for future games and hire someone better.
Nah man, lol played this games for 250 hours not even once got I annoyed by the sound lol. Absolutely not a 3, the ost is great too.
I agree about the repetitive and unrealistic engine sounds. Same thing with Snowrunner. Mudrunner I don't remember being as bad. I think it's tied into the gearing system. I'd like to see more realism added to how the gears work and how the engines sound.

I have 60 hours in Snowrunner and I've barely scratched the surface. Platinumed Mudrunner twice. Love these games and will be playing the heck out of this one too.

personally I never understood why people want to play the saber games with a wheel....I do have a pretty decent wheel and not once played the saber games with it

Before you buy the game :
* Didn’t fix the crappy car control
* Removed a lot of heavy truck
* many useless rock on the ground that would pissed you off no matter what tire you install
* level design that doesn’t make any sense ( a gap between the terrain that you won’t be able to pass after struggling)
The previous one is way polished then this version

This is such a great game series. I wish the construction/farming sim games had the same mud/land physics that Mudrunner does so well. Not sure why more games dont make this the standard.
Snowrunners already being a much more complete game that satisfies both mud and snow and rocky AND with every kind of mod under the sun, i might have to just stick with Snowrunners
Watching this review reminded me of playing the Tonka Search and Rescue games as a kid for some reason. Now I want a remake of those lol. Great review

My only problem with the previous games is how throttle and shifting worked. It was so arcade like it made the whole game feel and drive like an arcade game. It sounds like not much has changed other than the map.

i put like 500 hours into Snowrunner and its DLC on XBone, this is a day 1 buy for me, finally next gen graphics and now I have a wheel to use with it too.

@@astrofive620hopefully they let you use more than 1 input device. I have my wheel pedals and shifter so I need 3 inputs. Snowrunner allowed 1.

@@Darion350 not going to lie, I probably only have about 3 hours into this game as the last 4 years games have been few and far between. I played in both perspectives though to try, but just the idea of the wheel where its not only racing is very cool. All that being said I don't even an xbox one wheel, time to hunt :)

I bought this game and I wish I could buy more in game credits with real money and I rarely say that. Just as I’d love to be able to tweak my vehicles but I’m low on cash and I find some issues on tough terrain . But the game is very relaxing where fast paced racers are very intense and high heart beat this game is like a Sunday cruise - litterally .
Game is stuttering trash on series X. Literally stutters multiple times a second. It’s disappointing and I’ll be requesting a refund on the Microsoft website
Co-op isn’t included, neither is a photo mode because the game clearly wasn’t ready for launch
After getting a steering wheel, it felt impossible to enjoy driving and racing games with a controller. But this series never lost it's charm for me. It's a completely different genre
This genre on a base level just doesn't interest me at all. I don't even particularly like driving games but something compelled me to try snowrunner last year on ps+ extra, I got instantly hooked and didn't put it down until I had finished the entire thing. I'm not going to play it just yet as it's still a bit too close to my time with snowrunner but I'm glad there's another game out in the series and I'll definitely get around to it eventually.
These games with a Firewatch style narrative would be exponentially more interesting.
I guess so if you're into the narrative stuff? These games have never really been about that though, it's more about the simulation niche and challenge of the "fantasy" as playing as extreme terrain driver. I can see your approach though, I just think that isn't what this game series is about at all.
@@conahscreations yeah it may be a different series honestly, the first games were set in such depressing settings doing logging etc. They seemed lonely and that’s where I thought they could lean into the CB radio to give you a bit more purpose and motivation to the player.
@@ricepony33 I would love that in a social environment such as co-op, I think the games have co-op actually but not sure about the CB radio feature.
I'd definitely be down for a narrative journey, but these games can be so in-depth with their simulation elements that I think they'd clash a bit personally.
I log in and play the mud runner games because I don't want to engage with anything too thought provoking, I want to switch off entirely and just do some dull delivery work!
I would need more simmy simulation then. it looks too samey as Snowrunner to me to buy it. Mudrunner was more "based", and spintires even more so. I am sure people will buy and play and have fun, but i´ve seen this more than once already. Better physics and hraphics, goals and a narrative for background would pull me in. More surprises and uknowns, and using suspense, weather and changing conditions. Weather and long routes is what i´ve been hoping for in Expeditions. @@conahscreations
I do wish, as you said, that they would show damage better, as for myself I love a good vehicle game that can display damage well.

I watched this whole 'review' but I'm none the wiser what it's about or what you have to do or why? This was like.... this is a car and it's metal it has rubber for tyres and has mechanical bits under somthing called a bonnet, but what does the car do.... ah haa not going to explain that!

As a first time player of the mudrunner series this game is difficult for me. The tutorial alone was rough. I’m sure once I’m used to to it the game won’t be as bad.

looks like a dlc for snowrunner. honestly if u haven't played snowrunner get it instead of this you get more bang for your buck a lot more and it also supports mods on consoles

Snowrunner coop was SO GOOD! Me and a couple friends literally played it for 15 hours straight once in coop. Sad that this isn't launching with it, but hopefully it's coming very soon...
I could never get the coop to work on egs. I gave up after constant DCs. It would have def extended my time with the game as it seemed the later dlcs were designed with multiple people in trucks involved. Or it would save a ton of time.
Co op was so broken
First 20 seconds reminds me of the trailer from The Day Before. It didn't even age at all.
It doesn't look like they have fixed the problems with the physics. Wheels don't spin, mud doesn't cause skids, suspension bounces

You’d be way better off spending your money on snowrunner and modding it. These Saber interactive games get way too much DLC.
been playing the saber games since the original spintires and personally I find it way too hard without mods...even with the most extreme modded trucks some maps are pretty hard and I admire anyone playing these games in vanilla without mods as to me it seems just impossible (I don't find it enjoying having to winch through every mud patch or go 1m per minute)
That's actually a positive? Who doesn't love it when their favorite game receives more content! No-one is forced to buy anything but if I am a fan of a game and played it all, the best thing is new content to get.
Love the mud runner and snow runner games. Pre ordered this. So it is what it is. Can’t be worse than overpass 2.

I totally like the old one but I'm not smelling this one, it feels a lot different and strange to me.
At least from the footage...the environment looks more "gamey" than mudrunner or snowrunner. Doesn't look like the game environment could be in the real world like the older games.

Between this and Pacific Drive we have had some weird, and wonderful, driving games in 2024!
Too bad Expeditions feels like a DLC to Snowrunner, it's just that with some gadgets and new missions, nothing more.. even have the extremly strong tiny trees still, and added some pretty hard grass you pretty much wreck your car on..
Love this series but I’m very sad to see this released without co-op. This series has always thrived in the co-op genre. I’ll wait to purchase until they release the rest of the game 🤷♂️
In my opinion the biggest mistake a game creator can make is to disappoint their existing fan base on a release.

I love the first 2 games but the fact that snowrunner has so many dlc and Expedition will probably have almost as many means I will never support them again.
Just bought the game on ps5. I thought the 5th was release date. But letting me play the game. Didnt see early access for it. Bought the 80 pack idk. Fun so far.
I’m curious to how the traction is gonna feel, mudrunners traction was sooooo much better feeling then snowrunner, but snow looked way better. I hope they took the graphics from snow but the feel of driving on mudrunner

Kinda looks and sounds like it started as a Snowrunner dlc but then they decided that the changes warranted a new game, but does it? Is it different enough from Snowrunner? I'm not convinced.
How grindy is it? I found snowrunner quite boring but expeditions sound fun
The ultimate zen game!
Snowrunner can be zen at times, but most of the time it was tense as hell.
Late game that goes away when your doing a long haul and spill your load right at the end.
Not having Coop on day one is a dealbreaker for me. Makes absolutely no sense to me.
No Dlss, FSR or XeSS AHHHHHH!!!!! That is a scary thought.
Wanted to like snowrunner but it was broken for me. Couldn't understand garage system and map changes, waypoints and objectives would get stuck, awful experience. Hope they fixed stuff like that.
All there games, this is entire genre is "why am i doing this"
This game doesn't feel like its worth it on full price ($96.99 CAD for supreme edition), maybe on a steep discount. It doesn't offer anything new from snow runner with 10 times more content (and only cost $39.99 CAD). There's something like a total of 60 events to do, that's it, snow runner has at least 600+ events.
This entire review could have been a review for Snowrunner. My question is - for us who have Snowrunner via gamepass for free, why spend the $ on this game? What does it do better or worse? Just tire pressure?

Didn't like the game. For me it was the worst in the series. Hate the tutorial, hate the bugs. Hate not having multiplayer or coop. Feels like a huge step backward.

Guys if you are wondering is it worth buying this game this is my review listen up after i pre order it brought it played with my Logitech g29 works pretty well with a steering weel but there down side of it the game saving system is very bad you about to find out why, after playing this game few hours into it i messed up twice as you can't save it as Auto saving system had to restart from the beginning twice i give it 5 out of 10 isn't worth playing if you ask me i deleted the game in end if you get stuck like i did twice there no way out you after restart all over back to the beginning and who want's that in game : (

No coop at launch? C'mon. I play snowrunner almost exclusively coop. Hopefully it won't take too long for coop to come out
Im glad that snowrunner is getting more dlc cause expeditions just seems to bleh and the maps look downright horrible which is okay cause it just means that its going to be more years of me playing snowrunner and I’m totally happy with that 💯
When I hear mudrunner I think of someone running before pooping their pants. Instead it’s a pretty cool game
