Nez is my biggest idol and influence in music. This performance in Austin City Limits is Nez's rarest and most difficult performance to find on the internet/youtube. I don't have enough words to please you for this, Videoranch Reuploads! Peace, love and good health to you, friend!
The magic of Mike Nesmith. Neither he nor the Monkees get the credit they deserve. His best songs with the Monkees certainly are originals of the Country Rock genre (like the Byrds and Buffalo Springfield.) His voice is subtle, superb, and unforgettable. His lyrics are poetic and heartfelt. Thanks, Nez, for all you gave us.
Agree. Very good songwriter. The chord changes seem traditional but then Mike throws in some left turns that I don"t see coming and I think, damn....that"s awesome, I didn't think we were going to turn there!. Just a great vibe from Papa Nez. Laugh Kills Lonesome.
Who wrote so many incredible songs and I have every one of them. When I used to play music back in the 70s I used to play propinquity, Joanne ,Silver Moon ,some of Shelly's Blues! and Rio. I know that people had no idea who wrote this stuff ....but I knew, thank you Mr Nesmith

Michael Nesmith wrote a great number of songs! Look Up His albums and enjoy his songs that he wrote and sang! I love so many of his songs! ❤️😍😍😅😂🎉🎉❤❤😂😂😅😅😂🎉
A nice gig for John Jorgensen backing the great Nez in preparation of being recruited by Chris Hillman for the also outstanding Desert Rose Band who then influences Brad Paisley. What a nice circle.

Hi! unfortunately i only found this episode of the show but if you look around on sites that aren’t youtube you might be able to get something! i found this on a music sharing platform.
I came back to the Monkees and then saw all of Mike's body of Albums! I was healing from an extremely long spinal fusion surgery and Mike's been with me this whole year! I wish I could of talked with Him but I plan to look for him in heaven!
Beautiful! He's so talented and love his vocals!!!! Go Papa Nez!!! RIP Mike! You are missed!

Just loved “Joanne”, and everything Mike did. Rest In God’s Own Peace, Michael; and Thank You.
Mike was one of my clients in Carmel. RIP, buddy.

I wonder if Papa Nez knew just how loved he was and how many appreciated his incredible talent. RIP Papa Nez.
in reading some articles and watching footage of the last few concerts I think he did finally realize it

He was 48 or so! He looks just great and sings wonderfully well ❤❤❤
He had a beautiful voice and he was so very talented.
I remember the joy of discovering Nesmith's video of "Rio" on RUclips some months ago. As I write this, here it comes, "Rio"! Wow...
I've been hoping to see this again for decades! Thank you!!!
This was a song that brought two ❤ together.
I love this performance of RIO. Top form
He is still a handsome 47-48 yr old! Love you Nez! You are in the infinite time and space!!
RIP PAPA NEZ......YOU WERE A TRUE UNCOMPROMISING ARTIST

Was probably the main force in the creation of country rock.
And the great John Jorgensen on guitar!!!
Is that Jorgensen? That solo on Joanne certainly has his grace
@ it definitely is the great John Jorgensen
I love Austin, Michael Nesmith.

Lovely
fantastic vocal phrasing and John Jorgenson on lead guitar!

Terrific version of Rio! Nez is really feeling it
The Whole Time it's just wonderful!🎉🎉
Only Nez could introduce a song with " quantum mechanics and complex adaptive systems!" He is so missed.

I'd be scared to miss the high notes with nowhere to hide.
I guess i was wrong about Micheal Nesmith, i always thought his only contribution to the Monkees was the red tabagon
The Eagles before The Eagles.
Was that Red Rhodes on steel?
Yep
not good. be honest. very... less than good?
