- IT'S FINALLY DONE! 120 panels and almost 2 weeks later i've finally finished my a crown of candy animatic! it's definitely my most ambitious project so far and im super proud of it, though i've honestly been staring at it for so long i can no longer tell if it's good. enjoy!
put together using storyboarder (first time using it, and it's absolutely fantastic and completely free if not a little glitchy) and clip studio paint!

Fantasy high entertained me the most, it was a fun party.
Sophomore year prepared me for Brennan’s ability to hurt me.
Unsleeping city was honestly a master craft.
But crown of candy? I wasn’t prepared. I screamed. And when siobhan shouted at the fairy “IF YOU CANT BRING HER BACK WHATS THE POINT OF MAGIC” I legit forgot to breathe. My absolute favourite series by far. They always outdo themselves just when I think it was already at the peak.
I related to your descriptions perfectly! I have 3 episodes left of a Crown of Candy, after just finishing the Unsleeping City....and it all started with Fantasy High. So lucky to live in an age with this content and talented folks.

I can’t stop watching this... the fear on Liam’s face while the twins are unaware.... “Do you walk in the valley of kings” & then the split frame of the lollistaff & swirl warden?? Aaaaaaa!! Those frames of Cinnamon growing too this is all really well done
ONE THING I JUST NOTICED: Calroy's got strings around everyone except for Lapin (and possibly Liam or Ruby in the corner, they're both ranged fighters with bows) which works REALLY well with how he tries (and fails) to get his hooks in Lapin and fails miserably. I love it! Delicious!

gonna gush incoherently about this real quick. THE SUGAR PLUM FAIRY’S EYES OPENING IS SO FUCKIN COOL. and the jet/amethar being stabbed parallel IS HURTINGG ME. 2:36 is such an epic frame. you’ve managed to visualise the story so well and it feels really natural. hot calroy rise up. tldr GREAT JOB
yeah the fact that the eyes opening were fully animated really made it otherwordly compared to the rest being an animatic

yes! plumbeline has a little bread next to her speech to show her saying ciabatta's name, and cal has a little four leaf clover to show him saying "you were so damned lucky"! thank u for noticing!!
@@kindlespark9 I noticed the lil bread loaf! and I thought it a great way to signify plumbeline telling fibs about who's to be next emperor and then you've brilliantly captured amethar's immediately stunned expression. And the split frame of four of the bad apples (not physically - they're a real mixed plate!) readying themselves to commit their acts of treachery to the lyrics "the daaaaaaaaarrrrrk. the dark. the dark. the dark." - it's simply *chef's kiss* (aargh! food pun again not intended! :'D)
honestly if it weren't for the fact that this contains major spoilers I would have shown it to every person as a way of persuading them to watch the show, it's that good - every scene you've drawn here is truly fantastic and I'm in agony waiting for friends (who aren't as chill about spoilers as me) to finish the show so I can show them this masterpiece!
this is truly the best animatic i've ever seen. mind blowing. showstopping. leaving me breathless. your eye for color, lighting, character shape, silhouette, and expression is absolutely insane.

The parallel start and end shots of the castle exterior, the time lapse of Theo, the split screen of Swirlwarden and the Lollistaff completing each other (and that fact that Lapin and Theo are, quite literally, representative in their power of glitter and gold), the sequence of villain shots, the parallels between Jet's death and Calroy stabbing Amethar, the fade-out of the Sweetest Heart, the statues of the Rocks sisters, the beautiful shot of Belizabeth and the stained glass, the strings reaching from Calroy's fingers to all but Lapin and Ruby...this is truly a masterpiece

This is one of the most incredible things I’ve ever seen...Every frame fits SO perfectly and has so much incredible detail. The Lapin “do you ponder the manner of things” beats made me audibly gasp this is really really stunning
booted up my laptop just to do this and i'm so excited. since i can't fit this in the amount of characters it'll take on twitter, i shall SCREAMMMMM about this animatic in this comment instead. but yeah, holy fuck, sam, YOU BLEW IT RIGHT OUT OF THE WATER WITH THIS ONE! starting off with the twins and just going all in with the parallels is driving me insane. from the halves of the heart to the weapons to the tiaras to the linking pinkies. AHHHHH. COLORIZED "DO YOU WALK IN THE SHADOW OF MEN WHO SOLD THEIR LIVES TO A DREAM?" HIT SO MUCH HARDER THAN I ANTICIPATED. someone already said this, but the animation you did of spf's eyes opening to "the dark" gave me CHILLS. the connecting panels of swirlwarden and lollistaff was SUCH a good detail as well. i think 0:55 has to be my favorite panel out of the whole thing solely because it's jet and i just miss her so much. DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE SEQUENCE OF RUBY CASTING FOG DURING THE FIRST COMBAT? THE PINK????? AND THEN THE TRANSITION OF THE CERESIAN EYES TO THE STAINED GLASS WINDOWS BELIZABETH WAS WALKING BY?????????? WHEW. i pretend i do not see hot humanized calroy. except that i do. AGAIN WITH "THE DARK." i don't know if you intended this, but using that lyric specifically for the villains in both instances, first with spf, now with the big baddie four, was immensely sexy, actually. THE INTRODUCTION OF RINA AT THE END OF THE BRIDGE. YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!!! the lightning coming with her slamming the winterscoop into the ground... EXACTLY! SHE HAS THE RANGE! reusing the panel of castle candy at the end, but with the pcs in it this time, was so big brained of you. AND YEAH!!!!! I THINK THAT'S IT!!!!! sorry this is so long, but i think i got it out of my system now. i love this so much and i'm so proud of you for being able to put it together.

Three years later and I'm still watching this. What an amazing piece of work this is, I can't believe you did it in two weeks! Every frame is incredibly dramatic and helps tell the story. Even the scenes walking through the castle hallways add so much.

I just found this but god DAMN it's so good!!! There's literally too much I love about it to be contained in one comment but I'll try:
Theo's part at the beginning where he's following Lazuli, then in war, then kneeling for Amethar? Calroy and the chess board! The part showing all the villains to "the dark, the dark, the dark"! How it went black and white after Jet's death until Saccharina showed up and then it was in color again! Saccharina's whole entrance! The transition of Saccharina with cute lil Cinnamon to Giant Dragon Cinnamon! Showing all the villains back at Castle Candy and then showing the Rocks family outside, mirroring the earlier shot of the castle! It was just all so cool!!!

The funniest thing about this is that the characters are very distinctly not made of flesh and bone
Well, in the world of calorum these people would almost certainly have a biology of sorts.
Their anatomy functions using some background, quiet medium of magic, but they still have a structural anatomy.
They will certainly have bones, of some extra hardened, crystalline hard candy.

Holy fuck!! The artistry JUMPED out!! Your visual storytelling is incredible, and everything fits so well it's as if the song was written specifically for this series. My personal favorite moments are the introductions of Theo, Amethar, and Lapin, and the killer transition at 1:11. Incredible work!
there are many great parts here but the three panels of Sir Theobald Gumbar at 0:26 convey his story perfectly in only a handful of seconds. honestly that, Amethar's backstory, and Lapin's backstory are my favorite parts here with how much they portray in so little frames
0:33, 0:44, 1:12, 1:21, and 2:37 ARE SO GOOD LITERALLY WTF HOW?!? AND THE COLOR SCHEMES FOR ALL THE VILLAINS?? UGH YES!! AND THE PARALLEL SHOTS OF SACCHARINA’S EYES WITH THE LIGHTNING AND LIAM’S WITH THE SHADOWS AHHHHHH
If you couldn’t tell I’ve literally watched this like 13 times in a row and I physically cannot get enough
My favorite thing is that at 1:21 Calroy doesn't have a string on Lapan, referencing that he didn't know about his being a warlock of the Sweetening Path, and he also doesn't seem to have one on Ruby, which is weird
I haven't watched much of CoC because it is Too Intense for my fragile heart, but goodness! This is great! You've managed to hit the Exact Limit of CoC emotions I can handle having at one time before I need to take a break -- with a very well made animatic to boot! I cannot comprehend how long it must have taken you to not just make all these quality frames, but COLOR and SHADE them too?? Truly you are a blessing to this community...

My only complaint is the small amount of Liam and Cumulus; but that's really fine because the song doesn't have a good place to fit them.
Lets be fair, if they showed liams big scenes this video would be flagged for gore and horror so quickly...
They show him leaving the onion scene, but thats literally the only part of that event that isnt fully r rated...

I've watched this so so so many times and it's probably one of my favorite animatics ever. The transition from the eyes to the church windows is so good and subtle I lose my mind every time. Incredible, outstanding, showstopping, never been done before
I know I already commented but this is my like 100th watch and it's the first time I realized that everything loses color when jet dies and color only comes back when saccharina enters... put this in a museum 😔

at any given moment I am thinking about this animatic,,, it's just insanely good. I think my favourite frame is prolly the one of theo walking behind lazuli -> kneeling to amethar but the entire thing is just fucking incredible

Goodness I love everything about this! The one thing I will say is I wish Rococoa got some more representation in her part with a sword and shield or something but other than that this is just spectacular!

At the end of CoC, I figured we would the good ending would happen, but I honestly wondered what would happen if Saccharina/Ruby or both became the aggressor for worst possible scenario.
Shit would’ve been like A Way Out where only one would survive in a heart wrenching battle for survival and one of two possible futures for the kingdom
kind of obsessed with how you associated glitter with Ruby and gold with Jet and that the song ends on the final cast of characters with just the one glitter without the gold at the end. this is a really amazing animatic and i love your art style!!!!!!
