Zack plays low intelligence characters as a handicap for Brennan, for the short time we had Lapin, he rocked Brennans socks
The duality of man: himbos and lapin
He knew he was too powerful
Lapin isn't even confirmed to have high INT; he's a warlock and his base ability is Charisma. And ironically, one of his low-INT characters had a _14 INT,_ which is how Gorgug managed to multiclass into Artificer.
@@romxxii He actually multiclassed into Artificer before having the RAW requirements. After they fought off their illusions in the nightmare forest (episode 18 i think) Brennan had them reroll their lowest stat and Gorgugs was still sub 10 at that point which then rolled to a 14.
@@romxxii Huge difference between INT and WIS. Gorgug could be knowledgeable but still not very smart. However, it looks like Gorgug had a 12 in wisdom, which is still above average…
I'm so sad Lapin didn't return as a white chocolate bunny called Lapin The White
What's great is Brennan stating that had Cumulas died in the Sugar plum fairy fight he would have returned .
Would that be white washing?
Noo this is GOT vibes not LOTR vibes, George RR Martin has stated that he was Really disapointed as a kid reading LOTR when Gandalf came back and that inspired him to commiting to killing his character in his work.
@@jonnil1997 What about Jon Snow then?
@@TheKillbot555 Technically Jon hasnt come back in the books. He came back in the show but Dance of Dragons ended with his death.
I love the slow realization from Brennan...
"...a chocolate rabbit slaps-
A chocolate-
*wAIT A RABBIT SLAPS A CARROT!!!!!* "
I would love to actually see that happen.
@@ladykoiwolfe There are animatics on RUclips.
@@belindaluna2067 i have seen this done in the time since. But Thank you.
I don't know why I thought this, but my immediate reaction to this being said was "oh, its funny because the prey is attacking the predator" ...as if carrots... eat rabbits...
@@Zoveiwdym they don't?!?!
The status drop earlier in this exchange is also so bad ass.
"you think me, a primogen of the church, would kill this man?"
I love how brennan admitted later that the reason Zac didn't have to do a persuasion/intimidation roll was because it was the perfect thing to say and the guard HAD to allow it
@@leishabrady9262 totally a DM does not need to ask for rolls for everything.
Underrated in the comments, thanks for pointing it out.
When you said a line so good, Brennan has no choice but to end the episode
"Alright you little shit... let's get weird!" The line that ended the whole season of Tiny Heist
God I can't wait to see what line will do that in pirates of leviathan
That’s all folks

Lapin Cadbury has one of the most fascinating and coolest, and complete, arcs of any D20 character. A seemingly bumbling and intelligent but oblivious teacher played the game of royal politics better than anyone. A Warlock went above and beyond fulfilling his promise, to save the family he was most loyal to, despite everyone questioning his allegiance until the end. And in his final moments, a man of faith found comfort in meaninglessness.
That's so cool!! I love this description so much.
I do have one question, do we truly think that he was a religious man? I mean, yes he was a high ranking religious figure but in my mind that was all just a part of his act. That's just my personal headcanon, though
@@druid_the_lizard_wizard Ooh, that's interesting... I think he may have been initially. Then found the truth. And it didn't break him, it just made him stronger and change what was important to him.
He wasn’t religious at all,
He was playing a role that he was roped into by the plum fairy from when he was a poor child and molded to be this - technically he was a triple spy-
He only found true family in the group toward the end of his life.
@@druid_the_lizard_wizard He was faking his allegiance to the Bulb but he certainly believed in the Sugar Plum Fairy (until his death when he found out the truth of the world).
@@j.prt.979he “believed” in her but he stated he always hated her. We learn she forced him to complete 3 wishes for her rather than giving him 3 wishes. That’s what started their relationship.
This is the best episode of Game of Thrones I've ever seen
If my kids ever ask I’m gonna tell them this is game of thrones
A Game of Thrones, or is it a Game of Scones?
@@sophiemoconnell I think this is the most amazing comment I have ever seen
@@sophiemoconnell so glad I found this comment
AND THEN NOTHING BAD HAPPENED TO HIM, EVER
Absolutely nothing bad happened to him. Only good things happened
Nothing bad happened to lapin not even once
I'm so glad this sassy bunny had a very good nice year safe after these direct events, definitely.
Yep nothing at all, as well of a certain pig also
And then this comment section woke up
The thing that makes this scene so great in my opinion is how Lapin has never dropped the act until now. Even when he sensed that he was found out by Theo and the girls. He has never showed where his alliances lay. To the point where when Lapin sends Theo out the room, everybody on the table is unsure of what he will do. Especially when he goes for the shackles. So when he says he will deceive Keradin, a relief washes over everyone.
That ambiguity is something Zac achieved so masterfully as Lapin. It's like he is the only one who sees Comida's atmosphere and all the people in it as who they are. There is no one else who knows the Bulbian church better. So he knows how deadly the stakes can be and despite that, all of a sudden says something intensely aggressive. We get a peek on who Lapin *actually* is and what he is really capable of. It's a shocking confirmation of his fake bitchness, courage and insanity. I love you, my favourite character whomst I love to overanalyse.
Yes love this! He was so great really capruted the GOT vibes as a scheming clever character.
Caution and boldness, as the sugar plum fairy instructed
The difference between over analysis and false attribution is not so subtle for anyone except the perpetrator. Glad you enjoyed the show though.
I don't think any players doubted his allegiance.
@@jimmy_x557 I was talking about the character, sorry if I was unclear.
somehow Lapin is still the best character this season
I wonder how much it is was because he died so early. Tho he was my fave from episode 1.
Saccharina is a close second IMO, but there's still more to go!
Easily my favorite
I agree!
@@vickylikesthis Ep. 1 where he loses the sisters trying to explain to Caramelinda had me rolling
I rewatched Brennen yelling “APOSTATE!!!!” Probably like 5 times at least when I first watched this episode. The build up, his facial expression, the voice acting, was all just *chef’s kiss*
Zach’s characters, assholes or not, always manage to worm their way into our hearts
I still think Lapin's best quote is "Hello There"
Coincidentally also Ewan MacGregor's best quote
Chancellor Lapin! You are a bold one!
He had a lot of great lines, but one of my favorites will always be the way he said to Theo "Ooh, what a large *goon* you are." in the first episode
"We are all going to die"
General kanobi
In a campaign full of snakes fking over the player characters, Lapin absolutely bamboozling this carrot and literally slapping him in the face with the coldest line ever was amazing
watching this again makes me so sad that Lapain didn't get resurrected in the sugar plum fairy fight. can you imagine if he was in the final battle with a halo of candy, said that line again and killed the fucking carrot. damn
i love cumulous but lapain had so much narrative build!
That would be all kinds of bad ass
7:18 Brennan's face as he struggles to process what to do is the best part about this. He is such a good DM, he could have railroaded them back into his plans for the game, but he just rolls with it
As he's calling the end of the episode, he's probably thinking, "I've got some serious plotting to do."
I don't think that was a break out of the mold. I think it was quite a natural chain of events that Brennan easily planned for. He went in, interrogated, got the bad guy's associates and told the guards to arrest the associate.
@@ralek592 there was way too much shock when he said to arrest them, SOMETHING went different than planned.
@@matthewcaffee2125 he's an affable guy. He'd react shocked if a player wants to drink tea as the world ends when really it changes nothing
Honestly, favorite moments as a DM is when my players throw an asteroid-sized wrench into my clockwork. It gets me HYPED and they love it!
Let's talk about how these 2 rolls were literally the most important of the entire adventure.
dont forget ally just acing the roll to determine that it was Keradin in the first place
This moment is so hype it’s honestly insane that the rolls were so good AND that Zac absolutely killed it as a performer/roleplayer lmao
In just 10 minutes Zac absolutely turned the game on its head.
Zac is such an amazing player in this series. He plays true to character, using knowledge he’s heard to great affect. The use of status to get the room on his own made my jaw drop.
You know it’s a million IQ move when Brennan didn’t even make him roll a persuasion check.
The Bulb cares for no one
Even rewatching this scene, knowing what happens after, I can't help but join the hype. Like, I'm so positive things are going nowhere but up from here.
Yes, no where but up!
The ball is rolling up!
we are UP baby
the scene of lapin's death chills me and it was an excellent turning point in the narrative where everyone felt the risks breathing down their necks. but i always grieve for the story that could have been where lapin survived. i really wanted to see zac use this type of character more
SPOILERS FOR CROWN OF CANDY:
Emily's realization of the "alfredo" connection in this conspiracy at 6:58 makes the scene for me every time -- it makes the reveal of a certain character's betrayal later on that much more palpable. I love how Brennan crafted NPCs that have crossover between different kingdoms
This clip is one of the best moments of all shows, ever.
Idk man Fabian’s nat 20 in the arcade is pretty incredible. If just for their reactions alone.
@@tim.noonan And Kristin's Nat 20 to "be alive". Probably the first time Brennan was genuinely shocked because of something player did that just upended the entire thing. They ended episode 16 on that moment.
the fact that brennan didn't let zach roll with grissini was the biggest hint of Lapin's status with the church.
And the fact that no one pointed out that keradin was a vegetable, and the belizabeth was too, should have been an awful threat already.
well Alfredi wasn't working for the bread ppl she was working for herself/the church as the church was what gave her power. The fact that those two are vegetables isn't the biggest tattle, we don't really see much vegetania shit we see more church shit
Yeah only place Zac messed up was not asking something along the lines of “should I inform the pontifax?”
Everybody wants the chance to slap a nemesis like that.
Damn, Zack needs to play more high-status characters
Zac being a high status, high intelligence, high charisma character was too powerful
@@AeiouaaaaaaaaaYeah, he shines when he plays smart characters.
Seeing Brennan understand that there was no better one liner to be made and that he HAD to end the episode right there was so brilliant.
Okay but can we acknowledge that there was a missed opportunity in not calling these "A Clip of Candy"
People always ask "Where's your Bulb now?" but they never ask "How's your Bulb now?"
I'll do you one better, WHY'S your bulb now???
@@susanhenderson8203 I'LL do You one better, "WHO'S your bulb now?"
The first and potentally only line that forced the show to end.
"Alright you little shit... let's get weird" by Rick Diggins was so dope that Brennan ended the whole season of Tiny Heist in that moment
SPOILERS SORRY
Listen, Lapin HAD to die. If Zac had kept playing a high status, high intelligence, high charisma warlock. The game would have been won by episode 8.
When you think about it he came dangerously close to destabilizing the Bulbian Faith and could have potentially toppled the whole thing.
Dude, spoilers.
@@TheMewtata Shit sorry dude, fixed it now, my bad though.
Honestly, yeah. But, still makes me sad because Lapin was so badass and also my favorite character
I have given much thought to how much difference another healer would have made in those episodes. MUCH.
The tiny clues that Brennan sprinkles throughout these earlier scenes are masterful. Coming back to these videos is fun because you can pick out how early certain details were given, yet skimmed over, only to become important later.
Murph's quiet "wow..." when Keradin rolls a nat 3 to beat Lapin's deception gets me every time.
One would never think a campaign filled with anthropomorphised foodstuffs would take such a serious and epic turn.
Lapin’s big day!!! I miss his curmudgeony old self
There was so much hope in their eyes. Little did they know...
Didn’t actually watch this campaign but I’ve heard so much about this line
Holy fuck Lou looks exhausted
To be fair Brennen has been actively trying to kill him all season
also for the record. lou is almost always quite stoic and indifferent when he’s out of character. both in the campaigns and on adventuring party. i like to think of it as him conserving his performance emotions (which i resonate with deeply)
Lou is literally playing the King in a game of 5 and a half Kingdoms v 1 Chess. Yes it isn’t actually 5.5 versus one, but with the amounts of danger his (and the rest of the cast’s) character(s) went through throughout the season, it may as well been
Great comedic choicess and timing all around for Zac Oyama!
You guys freaking crushed it this season. I started late, a week before finale part one dropped, and binged straight through until late hours. And Siobhan and Emily have me crying in about any role they play. Making them sisters only made that a sure thing this time around.
You all are truly a talented bunch.
Ah, our brilliant chocolate bunny. He really knew how to play the game of scones...
Lapin was so freaking badass, one of my favorite characters of all time! Honestly I’ve loved all of Zac’s characters but Lapin was just soooo genius. Of all the characters I could have honestly rather anyone else die but him 😢
I love Dimension 20 for as much as I've consumed. I have never seen a DnD series that makes players feel as powerful, or as helpless, as in ACoC, ever in my life. I imagine you could hear a pin drop after Lapin goes "are you calling me a liar?" You can see Zach lean forward after Russini lets him alone, I bet he was feeling like a beast manipulating that moment. A Crown of Candy is excellent in terms of setting stakes and having high highs and low lows. Just an incredible story told overall.
Zach is so clutch. Really looking forward to him coming back as Mavrus in Naddpod. He knows how to build a character.
I will never be over this scene omg
Certified iconic quote, from a certified iconic rabbit
This is my favorite d20 series, so gritty and unforgiving. Lou is my favorite player and this character is so much out of the norm for him and you can see it even in how he behaves in this series. He's quiet and his arms are crossed and he looks either pissed or like he's going thru some stuff.
So glad you made this a clip. This is one of the most iconic moments in all of D20, easily top five.
Zach's characters are always so close to him.
Cadbury is like the opposite of Zach.
@@christianschoff2490 he makes characters who are awkward but funny, that's him.
The first time I watch this, I was so pumped I jumped out of my seat.
Finished the series on dropout a few days ago. Still one of the best scenes and man this series has it all!! Made me cry, made me laugh, and man the amount of nat 20s woooo cheers to dimension 20 keeping me happy during 2020
The sinking ship fight is absolutely bonkers
@@k80_ Oh for sure!!! I mean right of the bat Aly having batman moments haha
This is one of the top Dimension 20 moments ever and that’s saying something because there are some good ones.
Having no idea about the wider campaign, this clip still packs so much energy and shows a magnificent play *chef's kiss* Amazing stuff! :D
Lapin is probably one of my favorite characters and the fact that we had him for such a short time sucks but made the story so much better
Truly the most on top our PC's get this season. All goes down from here.
Jet’s nat 20 against a certain dairy bastard was pretty great though
It seems all the characters with an awesome moment seem to die right after that moment.
They kinda ace the dairy ship battle and the joren rescue but yeah otherwise its a hard grind down
I have no clue what is happening in this video but I enjoyed every millisecond. Such joy
Zac normally plays himbo characters, but when he’s allowed to break typecast, playing the intellectual, yet unpopular Chancellor Lapin, he truly shines.
When Brennan said(1:53); On a nat 20... *Pause*
I was thinking to myself: No Brennan, you're not about to tell Zac that Keradin is his father, just as a gag. That ended up making a kind of sad moment, into a funny moment for me. I don't know if anyone else thought that at that moment, or if it's just me?
1 turn save the entire party, truly a legend
Man... Anyone else suddenly really attracted to Zack?
Nothing sudden about it: he's a handsome man
Fantasy High, Season Two. The episode where he comes in late, and has on the grey sweater.
Legit paused just to stare at him for a full minute.
Um actually the Marvel episode, blue shirt, absolutely breathtaking
There's strength in sweetness and there's honey in lies.
KING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Literally every time i watch this scene my chest goes heavy with tension and then the tension melts away as i laugh like a maniac every time Zac slaps a mf carrot
Huh!
I only just realized that the "BULB" deity people worship in a Crown of Candy is supposed to represent the lights that go on when a refrigerator door opens! For the longest time, I thought it was meant to represent the juvenile forms of vegetables such as garlic or onions (i.e. Baby Jesus, but if he was a leek).
The flavor in this scene is immaculate
we need a lapin prequel NOW pls
I watched the animatic version of this and let me tell you with out the context it was a roller coaster and it was epic
watching this live was INSANE
I knowwwwww
this is literally so iconic-
I'll never get over Lapin's death, he was so cool and deserved so much better, one of my favorite characters of all time
Okay so here's how I emagine this scene playing out in animation..
I don't think lapin is even looking at him Maybe he's right in his ear him as this jacked as hell carrot strains against his chains-
If he is looking right at him, it is dead in his eyes with his fingers just on the tip of the Carrots chin...
I imagine that Lapin's face rarely changes from his face in the introductory artwork... A slightly stuck-up politician / priestly look...
'where is your bulb now?'
But here I like to imagine that it goes full villainess grin with horrible shadows, lines and demented eyes, like something out of SpongeBob or courage the cowardly dog...
And then right after he emmediately pulls himself together and turns around to arrest Alfredi...
8:47 chills every time
I remember watching this on stream and just rioting with laughter it was beautiful.
Crown of Candy stands as my favorite D20 series to date, loved all the great moments, Epsecially this one.
I haven’t seen this in the comments yet, but shoutout to Murph’s Help actions!
I think the moment Zac realized Lapin was old acquaintances with the most powerful religious figure in the story, and of some renown himself with high charisma, and the fact that he didn't trust Brennan at all after the first battle, he had Lapin play politics and it was like something clicked in him to make Lapin into this thought-processing ego filled character who was calm and collected on the outside, but by swaying NPCs to his words, he could play the game in his favor. And this is probably why Brennan really needed him dead after episode 5, so they couldn't fuck his shit up anymore lmao
if nothing else, it is worth watching a full 8 hours of d20 just for this moment
I'm still waiting for someone to roll double nat 20s on this show and I will watch until that happens even if it's never
it has happened more than twice before. Brennan hit one in Fey and Flowers and I believe Ally has hit one, but it was a roll with advantage so it only counted as One
@@EE-sw3uh i write this before fey and flowers came out lol
Lapin had to die or this would’ve been 7 episodes long
It was effortless to cheer when this moment happened.
This was such a pivotal scene of an incredible series.
Zach with the big brain
Brennan’s face at 4:32
🤣 Bamboozled.
Zac's expressions are always so on point
I've probably watched this clip like 10 times by now, but hearing Zack deliver that final line still gives me goosebumps
Simpler times
I missed the scene when it aired and im sooo happy that this got uploaded
forever thankful
ps i hate the carrot so much
It still hits so well 🤗
Homeboy snapped
And that was the last time they were happy 😭
This is why I love playing characters in institutions like this with charismatic personalities this shit is always bussin
I don't think I've cried more with any of these series than this one
As much as I love cumulous (I legit have a crush on him), I miss lapin so bad.
Zac needs to play another warlock or anything like Lapan
Hey, remember when I watched this clip and then I marathoned ACOC for three days straight?
Seeing this clip for the first time, I think I will be following that very path.
This was such a good fucking season omg
There needs to be a Dimension 20 All-stars Campaign where each player brings back their favorite PC in some kind of inter-dimensional mash-up. I will excuse bending ALL the rules of storytelling to get me some more Zach playing Lapin! This was my favorite moment of the entire epic.
So did you enjoy your Quangle? 🙂
Straight up LOVE Zac. He has so many of my favorite moments in D20.
Love the whole cast, but he's my favorite.
I miss him everyday
