@@otakamerd1220 RDR2 story is only OK, it's starts off at a snails pace (Like most Rockstar games do) and the controls are clunky, the combat gets tedious with the limited amount of weapons in the game, and the lack of fast travel can be a bother if you just want to do the story missions. I like Red Dead I just think it's overhyped, GOW came out in April and people still talk about it
@@nhoj084eva I think if you were going in to RDR2 hoping it would be GTA Cowboys then you have a problem. But the weapon selection works for the time setting, fast travel is available by train or stagecoach and the controls aren't at all clunky

Even though I had it spoiled by my brother, the diagnosis and death of Arthur, and his horse still got me. I name my horse after one of my favorite fighting game characters, Ky Kiske from Guilty Gear.
Why is everyone arguing whether god of war should have won or not? It was an incredibly tough decision as both games were absolutely amazing. Why can’t everyone just be happy with how amazing of a year 2018 was for games?
I’ve played both god of war and red dead 2 but let me tell you BOOIIIIIII is red dead 2 by far a greater game than god of war: no idea how god of war one the game of the year award.

Red Dead literally ends almost the exact same way as the predecessor and could also be very poorly paced depending how you play. She couldn't have died before RDR2 since John says that she died after he left the gang and Javier knows about her too yet not a single bit of her is seen or mentioned in RDR2.
The Rue Morgue If you read what I said or played RDR1, you should understand why that doesn’t make sense. In RDR1, John tells Bonnie “I had a daughter but she died. Years before that I rode in a gang”. He specifically said that she died years after he left the gang. Then like I said, Javier knows her too as he curses John, Abigail, and their children to hell. This would mean that she was alive when they were still with the gang. If she died as an infant after RDR2, that doesn’t explain how Javier knows her. Javier shouldn’t have had contact with the family after the gang fell apart for him to know her. In RDR2, John and Abigail act as if she never existed. She isn’t seen or mentioned one bit in RDR2. Sorry but it’s either a big plot hole or an inexcusable detail that the devs just forgot about. I love the game and it’s still a great game but it’s surprising considering it’s a game that pays so much attention to detail yet there isn’t any good explanation as to what happened to her in RDR2.

GoW definitely deserves GOTY, in the same way that RDR2 did. I do believe though that GOTY should take into account whether or not a game is an exclusive or not. Perhaps if it did, RDR2 may have won.

Yeah the graphics were good, but most of the game is background lore and random dialogue. Whereas with red dead we have memorable characters, plot, an established story that drew you in then hogtied you and kept you prisoner in a giant open world.Seeing each character in red dead struggle in a changing world before them and desperately clinging to what they know, imo, makes for a better game. God of war was by no means a bad game, red dead was just done better.

Sometimes kids are just annoying, that is just how kids are, and makes the character real. Sometimes parents are annoyed or disappointed in their kids. I really enjoyed the story, the characters, and the gameplay as a whole. They recreated Kratos, turning him from pale monster of a man who’s only emotion was rage, to a relatable character with real human emotion. He was ashamed of his past, and the terrible things that he did. He wanted to teach his son to be a better person than he was. I spent hours upon hours playing the new God of War, looking through every area for every secret, and I loved every minute of it. The world, was so well crafted, and Norse mythology is so rich that it creates an amazing natural feeling world. The reinvention of the franchise as a whole was a huge risk, and is one that deserves to be recognized. I loved RDR2, but it was a guaranteed success, there was no risk taken in creating a game that everyone was already begging for.
@@ClayMcKeel if you think kratos only felt rage, you didnt pay enough attention in 3, ghost of sparta, and ascension. Rdr2 wasnt a guaranteed success, no game is a guaranteed success. My issue with god of war is that they spent the entirety of the damn game building up Odin as the big bad, and preaching how ragnarok was coming, yet never did anything with it. The boss fights felt like they belonged more in a souls game with how repetitive they were, Plus the resource and shop system. Long story short there was nothing in god of war that screamed out "I am a god of war game." Plus rdr2 has probably the best soundtrack, dynamic graphics, interactive, open world, fully destructible environments to ever exist within a game, where the player decides how they play it, and their actions directly impact how the npcs view them. And rdr2 wasnt a a linear plot, you could spend hours hunting, fishing, customizing, upgrading, horse racong, or just robbing people at every turn. God of war was a single linear story, take dead wife's ashes to giant mountain with boy who has no knowledge of his lineage. Rdr2 had countless stories, endless choices, and frankly some of the best handling guns I've ever seen.
Let’s take a moment to just look back on Arthur and John’s character development. How they went from robbing anyone, to giving out money and outright refusing it when they need it the most. Because they know fully well it’s over. They realise that the life they lead is over. And for Arthur, his life is truly over. And he does what he can to save those who survived. He watched his “father”(Dutch) crumble in front of him. The pain he must have felt when he betrayed him and John. How he watched Micah shoot grimshaw and didn’t care. The pain he event through cannot compare to any other character in any game (at least to my knowledge, which is vast in games). May he rest where he belongs. A cliff side overlooking the morning sunrise, looking back at his past and the time he spent with everyone

@@ClayMcKeel atreus was an unlikable character for me, and frankly I dont see kratos wallowing in self pity about his past. Yeah the graphics were good, but most of the game is background lore and random dialogue. Whereas with red dead we have memorable characters, plot, an established story that drew you in then hogtied you and kept you prisoner in a giant open world.Seeing each character in red dead struggle in a changing world before them and desperately clinging to what they know, imo, makes for a better game. God of war was by no means a bad game, red dead was just done better.
junglehunter677 I liked Atreus, he was just a little kid trying to grow and become worthy in the eyes of his father. Sometimes kids are just annoying, that is just how kids are, and makes the character real. Sometimes parents are annoyed or disappointed in their kids. I really enjoyed the story, the characters, and the gameplay as a whole. They recreated Kratos, turning him from pale monster of a man who’s only emotion was rage, to a relatable character with real human emotion. He was ashamed of his past, and the terrible things that he did. He wanted to teach his son to be a better person than he was.
I spent hours upon hours playing the new God of War, looking through every area for every secret, and I loved every minute of it. The world, was so well crafted, and Norse mythology is so rich that it creates an amazing natural feeling world.
The reinvention of the franchise as a whole was a huge risk, and is one that deserves to be recognized.
I loved RDR2, but it was a guaranteed success, there was no risk taken in creating a game that everyone was already begging for.
@@ClayMcKeel if you think kratos only felt rage, you didnt pay enough attention in 3, ghost of sparta, and ascension. Rdr2 wasnt a guaranteed success, no game is a guaranteed success. My issue with god of war is that they spent the entirety of the damn game building up Odin as the big bad, and preaching how ragnarok was coming, yet never did anything with it. The boss fights felt like they belonged more in a souls game with how repetitive they were, Plus the resource and shop system. Long story short there was nothing in god of war that screamed out "I am a god of war game." Plus rdr2 has probably the best soundtrack, dynamic graphics, interactive, open world, fully destructible environments to ever exist within a game, where the player decides how they play it, and their actions directly impact how the npcs view them. And rdr2 wasnt a a linear plot, you could spend hours hunting, fishing, customizing, upgrading, horse racong, or just robbing people at every turn. God of war was a single linear story, take dead wife's ashes to giant mountain with boy who has no knowledge of his lineage. Rdr2 had countless stories, endless choices, and frankly some of the best handling guns I've ever seen.

Let’s take a moment to just look back on Arthur and John’s character development. How they went from robbing anyone, to giving out money and outright refusing it when they need it the most. Because they know fully well it’s over. They realise that the life they lead is over. And for Arthur, his life is truly over. And he does what he can to save those who survived. He watched his “father”(Dutch) crumble in front of him. The pain he must have felt when he betrayed him and John. How he watched Micah shoot grimshaw and didn’t care. The pain he event through cannot compare to any other character in any game (at least to my knowledge, which is vast in games). May he rest where he belongs. A cliff side overlooking the morning sunrise, looking back at his past and the time he spent with everyone
