What were your thoughts on "Vikings: Valhalla"?
Embarassing
Inaccurate
Not that good actually, bad actors
Very bad.
Jarl haakon a historic white male played by a Black female what were they thinking.
Little detail- the actress who plays the little girl who places the cross in Lief’s hand played Angrboda- Floki and Helga’s daughter in the original series
Thats why the cuteness wa potrayed.
Oh damn, I didn't know that LOL.
Aww love that
I thought she looked partially familiar
I believe Leif was curious about Christianity until the end , when Liv dies , she wanted him to promise he would see her in Valhalla , and he didn’t get to say it before she died … the beast is awoken now , he’s going to be a savage in the next season .
Gosh, that scene got me in the feels 😢

Anyone else think no amount of Viking tv shows will ever be as good as the original one?
Season 1 of this show doesn’t compare to season 1 of Vikings but I definitely think it’s better than the later seasons
The last kingdom is pretty good
@@largebig79 definitely liked the last kingdom more than Vikings if I wanted a more “realistic” show
This wasn’t that bad though!

My favorite part of Valhalla is when Freydis had her vision and saw the seer. Probably the most iconic character in the viking series
You all forgot about the sword given to Freydis by the priest in Uppsala is the Sword of Kings. Sword which was held by Ragnar and Bjorn as well.
Just gave it away like it was nun
Over 100 years the sword being legendary probably lost its meaning
@@americanrebelking8337 true that Christians sought to rid the norse dane and swedes of their pagan past
I swear when I saw it I was screaming at the tv “how tf do they have that sword?! Who pilfered Bjorns tomb!?” I can’t be the only one right😂
@@acley4791 my thoughts exactly. You don’t even see Bjorns barrow, if we have Viking burial mounds that survive to this day I doubt a hundred or so odd years would erase Bjorns grave. I think the writers just completely forgot that the original Vikings show exists and that this show is more like a fan fiction than an actual show that continues the storyline.
The shield walls are quite pathetic in Valhalla compared to vikings
That's because they moved away from it after France
@@zacharyrogerssr9331 It would be fine if they actually "moved away from it", but the problem is that they still scream "shield wall" and as soon as they make the wall, they immediately break it to charge as the previous barbarians did.
When a formation is abandoned is because a new more sophisticated tactic took its place, or the formation became less effective against the new stiles of warfare. But here they are completely butchering a still perfectly functional formation and use old and primitive unorganized charge.
so is the black caracter
@@yiledute I felt the same way but from my understanding that was apart of the plan to trick the young king.
A lot of thing in Valhalla are pathetic in comparison to Vikings. The only reason I watch it is because it's the only halfway decent show depicting vikings right now
I notices something in last episode, when Freydis and Harald were escaping they were at the same place where Bjorn was buried. But in Vikings:Valhalla there is no tomb.
Yeah even i was thinking of the same
I thought it was just further up or something. Or just off to the side
I would not be surprised if his tomb would have been destroyed by christians.. the only thing bothered me is that this is just 100 years after the end of vikings how could the christian fate spread so fast among the vikings?
@@marco002 because the one that stayed in England had kids and they converted and some went back to Norway and spread it
@@Ace-Clif it is still too fast and why would anyone convert in Norway.. The seer told 100 years earlier to Björn to never lose faith in the gods (or if he did he would not beat the Rus).. he was literally went to fight in the name of Odin.. he was forgotten too soon
Really enjoyed this video. There was a lot of bits I didn’t realise that resonated so much with the original series!

The DIVERSITY of Norway, Sweden & England in 1000 AD is absolutely....STUNNING! How did so many people from Africa, Arabia, India & China end up in northern Europe in the 11th century?

I would be okay with a historically Arab or even African ruler but Jarl Haakon was a dude and he was Scandinavian. This is tokenism just for the hell of it.
It's so unnecessary it's not even funny. It doesn't even make any sense like in any way whatsoever. Who the hell do they even think they're making this show for anyways?

I loved Vikings and thanks for telling me about this show!! Had no idea about it and I did not know how Vikings ended.
You loved it so much you didn't finish it 🤔
The fight scenes lack flow. They have that "Percy Jackson" choreographed feel to them, compared to the original series. Perhaps it's a change in the music and cinematography that makes the difference. The acting is....nice...but the characters are thrown together to fulfill some recipe, rather than it being their...destinies. It's pleasant enough, but it lacking. As for the historic aspect, it's a TV show. Deal with it.
The way how the sons of Ragnar fought, especially Ubba and Hvitserk, looking like complete psychopaths thirsting of blood and enraged screaming was just so epic!
Haakon Jarl is just wasted in this show. They missed out on the best character of the viking age. He was a ladies man, and the best warrior. He won every battle he was in, on every side, even if the side attacking him was much larger. He even defeated the holy roman empire down in Denmark. What a terrible decision, you missed out on another Ragnar (only this guy we know is real.)
What do you mean... we need to ruin everything and not make any good decisions anymore because that would make us racists
Netflix.... 🥴
Ragnar is real though...and he did made invasion on France and england
I was very disappointed at this as well. If it ain't broke don't fix it. So sad
Something none of you have noticed is the sword of Freidis...when she showed the sword to Kore he spare her life this sword was Bjorns sword...which is displayed very well at the historical scene when Rus and Ivar tries to kill Bjorn with three bowshots but he does not die.
Ah yes its historical accuracy is fantastic like depicting the king of Norway as an African women 🤦♂️😂

Not as good as series 1. Having an African descended Jarl was disappointing to see considering the real Jarl Haakon was himself worthy of being represented properly.
WOKE identity politics demanded diversity among the Vikings. We were lucky we didn't get a non-binary Jarl.
Yea man i feel ya...so until Netflix made a Nelson Mandela movie with caucasian actress playin it, this series will always be bad
Im not even white but I dont like it when they put non white characters in these roles, it makes no sense. Takes you out of the whole experience. Its very distracting
this show gets the history so bad it’s hard to watch knowing the characters are supposed to be based off real historical people.
@Nay Sayer I'm here. He's in my family line. Vikings used a lot of oral history through their own families. But we have done our geneology. And once done the oral history was correct. Ragnar and rollo werent brothers but I'm from his line to. All 3 of my grandparents are descendents of vikings. 4th grandparent I haven't done the line yet.. And my one grandma was Rus and she even carried on a lot of their traditions she taught me and my daughter. When the guardian of the young king said he'd cut his tongue off with shears for teasing him was spot on. We died laughing. My grandma told me that as a kid when I stuck my tongue out at her. She really wouldn't but scared me to behave. After doing my geneology there's some theories from scholars I'm finding aren't even accurate. Like they don't know what happened to certain lines or families after a certain point, they immigrated to America as early back as the pilgrims time and were farmers, inventors, preachers, some helped build the colonies here, ect.
@Nay Sayer the njals saga and hjemskrigla sagas is a recorded history of norse hero's and battles. Also his son is buried in Sweden how was he conceived.
@Nay Sayer yeah dude your not wrong back in the days of vikings alot of different nomadic tribes existed. Like as picts(scots),celtic(irsh)and germanic they worshipped similar gods.

I did a report on Leif back in the 90's in Highschool. This show was so good.
Will there be another season?
I lost interest in Vikings when Ragnar himself died but now I am watching Valhalla because of this character called Leif. He is wise, smart and he read people very well and when I look at him I see a real Vikings like the original series and he remind me on Ragnar so much because he even speak like him. I am watching this new show because of this character Leif and I believe they have a big plan for him in coming seasons. People I have talked with about the show love him already and they want to see more of him in coming seasons.
Yeah me too. I am really interested in his character and what he will do. From his friendships, relationships and actions he is a very likable character.
Can't say the same for Freydis though. Don't know shit about her except what happened in the past and she's now "the last". Didn't even mention her own brother (who went to england for her debt and kattegat for her revenge) after the battle and if he was alive or not.
I need a friend to talk to about this show too lol.
No offence but sometimes I really don't understand some of you.. You really stopped watching because Ragnar died?? I mean when his sons had more fame than he did.. Bjorn was king of Sweden, Sigurd was king of Denmark, Ivar was king of Dublin.. Ok yes Vikings were better with Ragnar in the picture but his sons didn't disappoint either.. Ivar,Bjorn,Ubbe are great characters, in the end even Hvitserk..

The amount of details are amazing eventhough i watched vikings but i didn’t pay attention to these details. Can’t wait for season 2 and 3
There’s people in the comments that are so pressed about people who keep mentioning the black woman which is absurd because it’s a huge historical inaccuracy all in the name of being politically correct. People will keep mentioning the same way we would mention it if say 50 years from now, MLK is played by a white man. I am black and we have plenty of stories from our own history…we don’t need to be forced into other people’s cultures and disrupt their history.
Is Leif the secondary main character Cuh I feel like they advertised him as the main to draw fans in but their actually just showing his sister
He should be! Leif was one of the best Vikings of all. The son of Erik the red. His sister was also a great Viking but this season is so WOKE! It’s all about girl power crap. i like the tie ins to the original cast but this show doesn’t come close to being great like the ragnar ones

Auwsome video!
I still can’t believe they skipped the era where Harald Bluetooth lived…
Bluetooth ruled both Denmark and Norway, and is famous for being the viking King who was convinced to make the vikings Christians.
He was a powerful King who built many great forts in Denmark and Norway, and had a great stone placed in Jutland, with runes reading: “Harald made the Danes Christian. The Harald who United all of Denmark and Norway too.” You can still go and see the stone to this day.
At the end his own son, Sweyn Forkbeard, rebelled against him, and it was a kind of civil war thing, where Harald lost, was hunted out of Denmark and later died.
Could make for a great tv show, but they chose to skip forward some hundred years…
When’s the next season coming out? Anybody know?

What season and episode in the Vikings?
This should be season 3 or 4. I'm not really sure
Occurring 100 years after the original Vikings, I noticed that the Vikings had not advanced that much technologically. Not that I could see.
Probably pretty accurate. Big technological leaps usually happen in a short amount of time. Like the inventing of electricity and the industrial revolution. Events such as these are what really ramps up innovation quickly. Technologically, times move a lot quicker these days. Everyone has almost unlimited access to information now.
Thats because we didn't see a surge in technology till the the renaissance. Its called the dark ages for a reason...
If anything the plot went backwards.
@Craig Dendy Tasmanians were literally stone age people. Probably the technology went backwards. Infact after Rome left the UK the technology went backwards in many ways. Many northern Europeans went back to being hunter gathers.
It is accurate. Tech advances are happening in China and Arab world. Europe is still in the dark ages.
I was hoping that Harald were another Harald since things didn’t end well for Hadrada.
Edmund dying surprised me ngl

The first thing I noticed in _Vikings: Valhalla_ was that all the actors look like beautiful TikTok influencers. They're just too damn pretty and their teeth are way too nice. It's hugely distracting; I couldn't get more than halfway through the first episode. The second thing I noticed is the acting is horrible. Maybe if the show hired people that looked the part they could have gotten better actors.

This show is a historical drama nothing in these shows ever said they were meant to be accurate. If you don’t like people using creative licensing on history don’t watch. Better yet if you hate people fucking with your history, find a historian and pay them to make a historically accurate documentary.
