@@flamingmanure I understand that you are supposed to dodge in a specific direction but I honestly think the window is annoyingly tight for no reason at all. Also the damage is a bit inconsistent and there is massive inconsistency with dodge rolling into him. If they wanted the player to learn to dodge diagonally or to the side, they should have made dodging into him ALWAYS hit you instead of it being really weird and random.
I think this fight is really meant to be fought while mounting Torrent, the whole arena alone suggest it also I guess this dlc really brought back the important of using shields because the base game pretty much made them useless and made every player rely on jumping and dodging..
Technically you can fight him on Torrent, but for me it was a really bad idea. He’s way faster than torrent and you can’t jump over that charge attack, as his boar just swings his tusks up and knocks you down. It’s weird, cause you’re right, it definitely seems like fighting him with torrent is intended, but for me it was way easier to just hop off and fight him that way.
Not saying this to brag, because other bosses definitely gave me trouble, but I had no idea people found this guy hard. He was one of only three bosses I didn't die to in my run, the others being Metyr, and the Golden Hippopotamus.
Does NG+ still somewhat scales with you? I'm seeing all these streamers receiving tons of damage but at the same time dealing huge chunks of dps. I faced Gaius in NG+8 with more than 10 scadutree and the fight for me was kinda long.
I beleive it does. Also for every NG+ level you have, you're missing all the possible blessings for each level. Meaning you're playing without 7 levels worth of scadutree. That's how I think it works. Could be wrong.
Light weight and the talisman for increasing i-frames for dodges actually made this fight pretty enjoyable for me. The charge attack was actually possible to dodge straight ahead with this setup :D
I love how everyone is complaining about the DLC difficulty. Saying it is never your turn to attack. FX shows at the end of this vireo perfectly almost, how to dodge, when to punish. Plain and simple. AGGY FUCKING BEAT GAIUS WITH THE MARTIAL ARTS BASE WEAPON THAT DID HORRIBLE DAMAGE ACCEPT FOR WHEN HE PROCKED THE FROST. Eventually the dust settles, we all learn their move sets, and its like once again.. the base game. Even the good players have to get good people say that phrase for a reason.
That is true 99% of the time. Gaius genuinely has some wonky hit boxes. And then there is something to be said about screen clutter making some bosses way harder for no real reason. The final boss, for instance, has a lot of particles that fly around and blind you. Same thing for a certain boss at the top of a mountain. And the final boss has a lot of hair which makes some attacks way harder to predict than they need to be. Only real complaints I've had otherwise been a blast.

For anyone looking for some help with this guy, light roll will allow you to consistently roll into him when he does his dumbshit charge move. The rest of his moveset is still annoying, but his charge is borderline impossible to dodge with mid roll.
nah, you guys just still havent figured out to dodge him on midroll, doesnt mean its impossible, got it down on the 5th try, fantastic fight tbh, it just requires you to master dodge direction and positioning, soemthing the bb and ds3 fanboys still havent figured out since all they can do is R1 and dodge in random directions, since thats basically how bb and ds3 are played 95% of the time.
@@flamingmanurebro is going out of his way to shit on ds3 and bloodborne in every comment thread
Oh hey... Budget radahn
The moment I saw this boss I just immediately thought, "Man, Miyasaki truly is a legend of zelda fan." God I love the man's work!
had to switch my aow to bloodhound step for this fight 😂
tree sentinel on steroids
I hated him! Didn’t give me any time and tanked me until I used Messmer’s spear on horse back. Which you can throw! Loved it.
@@SamReynolsno, scudatree level caps at 20.
Yes ng+ does matter in the dlc.
NG+8 doesn’t exist. It only scales to NG+7
@@XXXTENTAClON227 It exist and I'm currently at it, and yes I know it caps at 7.
The guy is a war chief riding a wild boar , what are you expecting?
Have u done reactions for scadutree avatar?
This boss is significantly easier with the parry sacred tear. The same could be said about a lot of the bosses though.
Light weight and the talisman for increasing i-frames for dodges actually made this fight pretty enjoyable for me. The charge attack was actually possible to dodge straight ahead with this setup :D
What talisman is that?
Out of every boss that I’ve fought in base game and DLC he’s my least favorite
this mf is the most annoying boss i ever experience
One of the hardest fights ever.
I didn’t find him until after I beat prime boss and I didn’t know he was a remembrance Boss
Fingerprint shield and black steel great hammer counters wrecked this guy.
Such a shame that they didnt even bother to make a boss theme for him i mean the gameplay reveal trailer theme was right there!
This guy made me have Sekiro Flashbacks
The fact asmongold beat him with a heavy load is impressive 😂
tank build very op no struggle
Such devastation…
It was his intention.
Your allowed to use Torrent for this fight..just go back and forth smacking him around you be good..took only 3 tries.
Won with dragon build with Rot and Freeze, almost died trying to clash Bayle’s Flame Lightning but I lived and he died of rot
Rahdahn taught you well Gaius. 😳
Radahn didn't teach him anything. They both learned together from an Alabaster Lord.
I had to fight this boss in ng+4… I swear it was pure torture 😭
I had to fight in him ng 6 bro
@@Siuuuuy7 why did you do the dlc in ng+6 bro you like hurting yourself for sure
@@juuj4493 naw see I completed new game 6 like 8 months before dlc came out lmao
I’d like the name of the dev that thought this one was a fun boss fight…..
Used verdigris armor and shield with bloodfiend's arm. Made this fight a cake walk. This boss is garbage
worst boss in the dlc so
Hog rider is too strong
* inhales * *HOG RIDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER!*
where do yall get that sheild asmond was holding?
Hello, beneath the Leyendell Capital in Frenzy Flame place. Recommend you to watvh guides on how to reach there and how to get it.
@@mohammadjavadyeganeh5292 thank you for the info my friend
fingerprint stone shield i believe the name. you have to watch the walkthrough how to get the shield because it difficult to get it without a guide. but you have to defeat morgot first.
@@MrMuk94 Yes, there is a seal preventing anyone from going further after defeating Mohg, the Omen. Beat Morgott as well.
this fkin hitbox
With a good poise break build and bloodhound step ash of war, ypu can avoid him pretty easy:)
Just dodge
Stepped into the arena. Seen him. Looked at him funny irl. And summoned mimic tear. Caught fromsoft lacking.
Cringe ass comment
Rellana Twin Moon Knight next👌🏻✨
Nice permormance dude👍
You shoukld have put maximillian doods reaction in. The boss was total jank in his fight.
Piercing Feng works well on this guy
The only boss I did not like.
My buddy was warning me that this was a nightmare boss and I had him in 3 tries lmao.
Let me tank him 3:46
Not a fun boss, poorly made
Bro this fight was kinda good imo, the charge attack was bs but it’s dodgeable. Other than that it’s a great boss
Fuck this fight with all my heart. The window to dodge the charge is so fucking short I thought it was impossible at first. I want more fights like Dancing Lion and Messmer; Gaius was absolute fucking toxic waste.
Other fights like the Dancing Lion are hard but fair. This boss was fucking bullshit with awful dodge windows and that charge attack was genuine horseshit. Probably FromSoft's worst boss yet.
I agree i actually liked the fight i once had him on 1 hp and i died but i could laugh about it because that meant i would beat him
Except for the charge attack it was cool and the lore behind him also nice
@@aksis2133I had much more trouble with dancing lion than gaius. The boss difficulty usually depends on your build, which is a huge issue with ER
@@Wedelinskyj Gaius is mostly fine except for one attack that has an extremely bullshit hitbox and randomly hits for double damage sometimes.
Only issues I had with Dancing Lion are the camera in the first fight and the death blight lizards in the second.
