The meesho owner is saying we had a $5B sales , if we don’t become profitable now then when will we do ? I’m a e commerce seller . I want to ask meesho how will you be profitable? By reducing Safety claims for sellers ? All will shut down meesho account just like I did few months ago . I started Online selling with Amazon , Flipkart and meesho . Now only Amazon is doing well . All other platforms I stopped . Because there is a very big problem with sellers as well as buyers . That is returns . If you don’t allow the customers for returns they will move away from your platform and if you don’t give Safety claims to the sellers for Damaged and fake returns , they will run away as well . The solution is either you do cash burn and satisfy both of them Or you solve it using tech . I never understand why the hell these platforms don’t allow the delivery boys to check the item before dispatching and before bringing the return from the customer . If you can solve this fundamental problem , Welcome you will be leading the E commerce within 1-2 years .
Very rightly said. My mother purchased three sarees on Meesho whereas the seller has sent a chudidar instead. When we unboxed the package we even made a video of it and sent it to Meesho helpline and also the CEO. Just for one order my mother has called more than 50 times each call on an average 15 min yet no response from Meesho and CEO. I have even Whatsapp'ed the CEO yet no response. When a CEO cannot solve the issue then who can. This problem is happening very frequently on Meesho and we have stopped using it. By the way we did not get the money back although the product was taken back that too after many phone calls. I don't know why Nikhil is inviting people like Vidit who is nothing but cheating the users of Meesho.

Delivery boys pick up items only after they are packed. So they can’t be the one checking the quality. It must happen while packaging is being done.
Sara ka, sara jolmal courierier mein hi hai. COD orders hi mostly return hote hai and RTO mein wrong products kaise aate hai vo samaj nahi aata
@@daughterstime5974 agar sirf courier hi chori kar raha hai, to meesho kya itna hi insignificant h ki courier ko pickup ke time pe check karne ko bhi nhi bol sakta? i was a seller in meesho. got frustrated with the wring returns and abhi to courier log hi claim handle karte hai. so wo log koi claim pass hi nhi karta h. i lost more than 5 lacs because of this. BOTTOM LINE IS, MEESHO KA BUSINESS SUSTAIN NHI KAR SAKTA. INKA TECHNOLOGY ME HI PROBLEM H. IT'S NOT THAT THEY CANNOT SOLVE THE ISSUE. IT'S JUST THAT THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED IN SOLVING.

The only way to sustain growth in e-commerce without any funding will be increased continuous consumption by the common man. And for that to happen, the overall growth of the economy has to happen. As soon as the funding stops, all the platforms will crash down if they aren't having organic consumer base. In short, it's out of their control to shape their future. Only the government and the people in the country together can help them sustain.
Now i understand why businesses fail. Look at all the consistent growth stories they have all been erstwhile brick and mortar stores who also have pivoted to online. None of them answered nikhils question about what happens when the funding stops? Exactly when u have a brand built by traditional means....the brand itself has a pull or brand recall...no need to give discount or pump in insane marketing money....these guys have no clue how to run profitable business.... except nikhil and biyani sir ofc....

I feel the video is biased. Mr Kishore Biyani was very rightly trying to question growth vs profitability. However, the others just intervened and changed the direction entirely

There are 2 major reasons because of which e-commerce is not able to make net profit.
1) Return Rate which is very high & it is tye major portion which reduces the EBDITA
2) Bad estimation of online transacting customer. The overall base is not more than 2-3 Cr users

So basically what I am trying to say is that the maximum no of high paying users who buy things online are in the range of 2-3Cr only . Our GDP per capita is very low & hence the no of high paying users is very low . Unless & untill our GDP per capita increases , e-commerce won't be able to generate profits .

Technology democratises opportunity. 2% of people in any population sample are simply brilliant. Technology will open lot of avenues for many people from rural areas.
Secondly technology is highly deflationary. Decentralised model of sme is the future. Lot of competition coming for all so called educated ' privileged ' class.

This E commerce business is not suitable for india it will be unstainable when deep discounting goes away because india is densely populated country not like western countries where stores are miles away.
Deep discounting days are already gone , Do you see Flipkart Amazon or even meesho giving huge discounts like before and still their revenue is increasing
