I grew up with Lizzy, and it is fun to watch your reactions to this extraordinary music. I listened to a lot of bands way back then, but Thin Lizzy is the one who never gets "dated" or sounds "old". It is as you commented, so unique, the song delivery, the bass, the guitars, the whole package. I am a professional musician myself, and I also appreciate artists who are so unique. I admire your work. I love your reactions. You are also very unique. A unique person, a unique musician and I would love if you also shared some more of your own musical projects. You share so much, you are so open. I love your "delievery" too. Jesse, Oslo, Norway
LOVE THIN LIZZY!!! Phil Lynott's voice is so UNIQUE!!! ...and, the back was so GOOD! SO enjoyed them, back-in-the-day...and, STILL DO! THANKS for taking a listen to them!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Nick, I play in a Thin Lizzy tribute band and we are doing a show with Brian Downey (Thin Lizzy's drummer) in January, I'll tell him about your Thin Lizzy journey and will get you an autograph if I can... all the best.
I remember a comment on some other channel, and they claimed that Thin Lizzy were a "B-tier group..." Seriously, they don't deserve ears thinking like that. Lizzy ruled.
i get your friend saying Deep Purple, since Thin Lizzy did another album under band name Funky Junction which was many Deep Purple songs, but using another singer cause Phil didn't sing like Ian Gillan. Phil loved Jimi and early TL was influenced by Jimi. they would play Fire and if 6 was nine.. Phil, Eric Bell and Brian Downey also did song a Tribute for Jimi in 1981
Great to see Lizzy on the menu again ! Absolutely love 'Its Getting Dangerous ' a very introspective song from Phil. A little different, but as a Lizzy nut since 76 , it's one of my very favourites. Cheers Nick and Nick. Love to Lex 😊
As a life long fan, I don't understand how or why Lynott didn't get the respect and acknowledgement he deserved. When the music is this good its a shame. Some of the stars that have been forced upon us a 'rock legends' wouldn't deserve to hold the door open when Lynott was in the room Cheers
Thanks Nick’s! Never heard the first one. Phenomenal drumming and guitar work! There’s a few documentaries on RUclips about Thin Lizzy. Pretty interesting. Has Phil Lynott’s mom as well.
Hi NickandLex. If Nick the Lizzy fan is sponsoring Thin lizzy, then Nick, get NickandLex to listen to Lizzys live album, Live and Dangerous, where some of their best songs are supercharged in a live environment. And for those who wondered just how good they were live, Live and Dangerous doesn't leave you guessing!! It will transport you right there in the front stalls. And when you hear that Lizzy live sound, then you will know why, when they were support act to Queen, Freddie Mercury screamed from the wings, "Get that band off my stage"!!
Nice Rush shirt. On the back of the Thin Lizzy album Bad Reputation (1977) it states "Thanks to our friends Rush". The two bands became good friends after touring together. An again; Lynott had more in common with american crooners like Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr than his hard rock colleges when it comes to storytelling and phrasing. The keyboard-solo on the Thunder and Lightning album is Darren Wharton. The guitar solo is John Sykes. He is in the Gary Moore/EVH/Jake E. Lee etc league. He was the guitarist in Whitesnake after Lizzy and the main man behind Whitesnakes 1987 album. You should check out his band Blue Murders debut album (1989). Insanely good.
Nick, sugestion of marathon of the your friend from Brazil this great band Thin Lizzy : 1) Little Girl In Bloom (Vagabonds Of The Western World) ; 2) Running Back (Jailbreak) ; 3) Massacre (Johnny The Fox) ; 4) Southbound (Bad Reputation) ; 5) Got To Give It Up (Black Rose) ; 6) Waiting For An Álibi ( Black Rose) ; 7) Angel Of Death (Renegade) ; 8) Baby Please Don't Go ( Thunder And Lightning) .......... you to do in 2 parts, excellent songs i like for too many years, this great band. See you away, one fan of your channel. Rodrigo Ribeiro from Brazil.
Just stumbled upon your video. Snowy White does a lot of guitar work. You may want to check out some of Snowy’s solo albums. No Faith Required is an absolute masterpiece!
It's interesting that we are getting so many songs from what I consider to be the weakest period of Thin Lizzy's career. Not that any of them are bad. It's Getting Dangerous is one I like a lot. One simple rule with Thin Lizzy is that Brian Downey is almost always the MVP. Can't Get Away wasn't written by Phil, it was written by Lawrence Archer, the guitar player here, who he worked with in the band Grand Slam. There were lawsuits regarding the royalties after Phil died. I think this is the version that was recorded with Huey Lewis, who wanted Phil to push his voice into its upper range.
That's funny (that it was recorded with Huey Lewis) because I had never heard this song, but the chorus def reminded me of a HL song while listening. I know that Phil and Huey were friends, so it makes sense. Obviously, a big "what if", but it would have been interesting to see Phil do more pop rock in the mid 80's. I think that would have fit him more than the metallic direction of T&L (IMHO).
@@NJNDZoo I thought the direction of Thunder and Lightning was too limiting for the diverse talent he was, but he was working with so many different people after the end of Thin Lizzy it's impossible to know what he would have done next.
The marathon of 3-4 songs is a great and a first , and because you are such a Lizzie fan and appreciator of Phillo , I am going to throw you another lost diamond of prog rock which I know you really dig..That DIAMOND of lost progg rock is from 1973 . Check out the album "FUTURE LEGENDS" by FRUPP * Thank me later ...Enjoy

B being the BEST, surely..

Someday She's Gonna Hit Back is criminally underrated. Easily the best track on T&L and one of my favourite tracks of all time!
As a life long fan, I don't understand how or why Lynott didn't get the respect and acknowledgement he deserved.

John Sykes played guitar on thunder and lightning check out tygers of pang tang with him
Somedays shes gonna hit back my 2nd fave lizzy. Such a weird chord combinations in a song but it freakin rules. The star of this one is Downey though.
You've got to listen to Scott gorhams band 21 Guns, and Darren Whartons band (lizzy keyboardist) Dare.
I have seen grown men hitting the floor and going insane listening to Lizzy, they are the best
You haven't heard Fatz yet!? Then you need to do that really soon, such a great song!
That was Darren Wharton on keyboards.
more Thin LIzzy

Couldn't agree more bud. I love that quote from Freddie 😊

From memory, I think Thin Lizzy were the support band at the shows Rush recorded for All the World's a Stage. They get a mention in the credits.

Killers is my first Maiden album and still my favorite.
That Maiden song got me going this morning, awesome marathon!
great storyteller, great music

You have to listen to “talk in 79” by Phil Lynott if you want some excellent bass / drumming…
Thin Lizzy good band very good - dual lead guitars- but you must do Wishbone Ash - you did only 1 of their songs
😃
"Enough of Iron Maiden..." Yeah!
Check out blaze bayley who you mentioned sang with maiden for those 2 albums
"It's getting dangerous" is the best of the selection, the rest is not Lizzy’s best
It's your opinion. I ❤ all of this songs. Personally one of the best lizzy marathons. Thank you so much Nick. Never too much Thin Lizzy👊
F1rst!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
