One of my favorite things about Skynyrd is that bass line in all their songs. Dude played that bass like it was a melody line and percussion all at the same time.
This was a true story, too. Gary Rossington is still with the band, and he tells the story so well. After getting out of The Jug, Ronnie writes this song on the way home. LOL. One of these days, I’m going to Jacksonville and see The famous Jug. Great reaction, as usual.
This is one of the very few bands that does just as good (if not better) live than in studio....can hardly ever tell the difference ....LOVE MY SKYNYRD ❤❤
Hard to believe that a little over a year later 3 members of this band would no longer be with us due to the plane crash(11-20-1977) rest in peace always Ronnie Van Zant, Steve & Cassie Gaines🖤💙
Great reaction, and the reason they were so tight, so together as they played, the lead singer, Ronnie, worked them hard hours upon hours, to get it just right, so that they knew what they were going to do before they knew they were going to do it.
It takes unbelievable talent, energy, and practice to act like they are up there just playing around in a garage instead of sold out venues. Miss these guys so much!
They were in a bar he was dancing with a girl and her boyfriend came in and was going to kill Ronnie he tried talking his way out didn’t work so listen to the words he tells the story awesome actually I heard he wrote in the car on the way home again all in his head
Excellent song and such great storytelling by Ronnie. This performance is from Knebworth UK . Alot of people requested freebird from this concert they were opening up for the Rolling Stones. ☮️
There is a great story about this concert. They were playing before the Stones who were the headliners and the stage was built as the Stones tongue logo and were told by the Stones manager that they were not allowed to go out on the tongue area, that was for the Stones only. Watch the Freebird encore and Van Zant takes the band out there anyway. HA HA
Great Job Sir, I was at the movie show the night they crashed I was 13 very sad day!! The plane was left at a welding shop in town until the crash investigators were through with and in the early 80's it was sold for scrap.
They rehearsed in a shack in Florida swamp. No ac no money for food ,it was nicknamed hell house. By the time they rolled into muscle shoals they were a tight band. Jimmy Johnson cut demos to shop around no one bit . You can buy them now the muscle shoals collection, even has Ricky medlock from blackfoot on vocals on a couple of tracks
T For Texas is another good one on this video and you can see Ronnie looking at Steve during his solo saying man I was rite to bring this guy in the band he has a great smile on his face when he rite next to him
When talking guitar, you never hear about these guys. That's an unforgivable sin, because individually and when playing together, some of the best ax work around.
I believe this for knebworth .You should react to Freebird for this concert .I know you done Oakland. But they show out at Knebworth for one reason they were opening for Rolling Stones and where told DO NOT GO OUT ON THE TONGUE( THE WALK WAY IN FRONT IS SHAPE LIKE TONGUE FOR MICK) THAT EXTENDS THE STAGE THAT WAS FOR THE STONES ONLY!!!!!!!! Ronnie show them who they were messing with!!!!! THE STONES WERE PISSED !!!! The Audience was blown by SKYNYRD. MICK REFUSED TO GO OUT FOR AWHILE AFTER SKYNYRD .
YES! That performance of Freebird is considered to be #3 on the best live performances in the history of music. After their performance The Stones were so mad! All the bands were. The band to follow was called “10cc” they didn’t go on for 2 hours after Skynyrd set the place on fire and after that The Stones wouldn’t come out for 30 more minutes not playing until like 2am. It’s a great story but what makes it so great is that it is true!
YES! Don't know why but this was always my favorite LS song. I think it was the story. Love it.! If you happen to be looking for another great one that you don't see people reacting to is "The Needle and The Spoon", you ought to give that one a listen. Yes its' about what you're probably thinking it 's about. the Musicianship and a story too! It is quite a TRIP!
Great reaction. Knebworth was the show that they opened for the Stones. Rumor has it that the Stones didn't want to play after Skynyrds set. "Call Me the Breeze" from this show is outstanding and I like this shows performance of Freebird better than the Oakland show. AS well as the best performance of "Sweet Home Alabama". But that's just my opinion.
Really enjoyed the Skynyrd stuff. My favorite southern rock band. You have to do T for Texas. It's not on a studio album. One More From the Road album or you can view it from that same concert you just did 3 Steps from. The jam on that is amazing!! Keep up the GREAT work!!
Look at their hair back then, looking a mess and they thought it looked good too!😂 It’s so funny looking back at what people thought looked good back then the hair styles and clothes! Good music though, it never gets old! Thx for another great reaction!
They were the absolute BEST live band! Packed stadiums everywhere. The Stones refused to go on after them for a while at this concert & when they finally took the stage they sucked & the crowd let them know! lol Same with Frampton at JFK Stadium in Phillie!
It's cool,if it's your first time hearing it..but it's about the only one they really play on the radio.so its played out to alot of people..it is a classic though..keep the vids goin!!
You need to at least hear the studio version to understand the true complexities of the guitar work during this song! Saw them 7 times in concert and everyone was as good as the other!
One of my favorite things about Skynyrd is that bass line in all their songs. Dude played that bass like it was a melody line and percussion all at the same time.
It's a shame only 2 people on this stage are still with us
This was a true story, too. Gary Rossington is still with the band, and he tells the story so well. After getting out of The Jug, Ronnie writes this song on the way home. LOL. One of these days, I’m going to Jacksonville and see The famous Jug. Great reaction, as usual.
I'm loving this Skynyrd rabbit hole you have fallen into! T for texas from this show is good with lots of guitars!
This is one of the very few bands that does just as good (if not better) live than in studio....can hardly ever tell the difference ....LOVE MY SKYNYRD ❤❤
R.i.p to all the members of skynyrd who have passed. This band will never be duplicated, sadly. Thank God music recorded is forever.
Hard to believe that a little over a year later 3 members of this band would no longer be with us due to the plane crash(11-20-1977) rest in peace always Ronnie Van Zant, Steve & Cassie Gaines🖤💙

This song is said to be based on a true story. Happened to Ronnie.
They were in a bar he was dancing with a girl and her boyfriend came in and was going to kill Ronnie he tried talking his way out didn’t work so listen to the words he tells the story awesome actually I heard he wrote in the car on the way home again all in his head
My favorite Lynyrd Skynyrd song. Many drunk nights dancing to this song.
Love this song. Enjoy
Gotta love ronnies tongue and cheek remarks during this performance
Three simple words .. On the Hunt .. you will not be disappointed
Greatness!
Went to every Georgia Jam in the 70s. All the kick-ass bands from GA were there, and sometimes we got surprises, like ZZ Top.
Excellent song and such great storytelling by Ronnie. This performance is from Knebworth UK . Alot of people requested freebird from this concert they were opening up for the Rolling Stones. ☮️
Rock On, R.I.P. TO ALL This was the day that they Blew the Rolling Stones off of thier OWN Stage, , Cousin Figel
There is a great story about this concert. They were playing before the Stones who were the headliners and the stage was built as the Stones tongue logo and were told by the Stones manager that they were not allowed to go out on the tongue area, that was for the Stones only. "T For Texas T For Tennessee" !
Live version
I’m old enough to have seen the original band on tour, but I never did. DAMN!
I did twice.😊
I did.....multiple times and even then knew I was blessed to be there...
I’m very glad you did this version. RIP Allen. We all miss the music
This is my favorite Skynyrd song. I think cause something like this happened to me a couple times.
Great Band. Great reaction

Better than Oakland!
Fo sho
"I need you" and "on the hunt" are my personal favorites. If u wanna hear the masters at work do "that smell". All their songs are worth listening to.
On the hunt...please...played today on 33 vinyl while sweeping...yep can't go wrong with that tune
That's right
i wish i was at this gig!!!
You should come down and play with us a bit. Lots of good time's and southern rock!!!!

Studio version of this is great.

You saw Freebird on this video rite about the tongue
While we’re on the subject of Lynyrd Skynrd, please react to “Things goin on” & Mississippi Kid” 2 of my favorites💙
Check out “red, white and blue” and “unbroken”
Please check out .38 Special as well. Same style southern rock. I think 38 Special opened for LS. 💖💖💖💖
Give me back my bullets AND i need you
"Tuesdays Gone"
studio bro.. 🎙

Try Saturday night special off the Nuthin fancy aibum
These old school bands were rough on drummers...
Gary Rossington is the OG
Can it get much better??
Sometimes you have to swallow your pride and make some tracks!
