The thing is the Astartes bolter is also supposed to be better than the patterns we see in DT since the power armor lets them use the bigger gun. They NEED to give more spare ammo to the Boltgun and Ripper shotguns. You just run out of ammo WAYYY. TO. QUICKLY. I was really bummed out when they removed its 120 spare rounds and auto reloading with Vet pre skill tree update. Also really bummed how it takes MULTIPLE shots to open up a Bulwark shield. If they're gonna do that, they need to add a game mechanic where it can damage and break apart the Bulwark's shield depending on where you aim so you can slowly start to reveal the fleshy parts of him for you and your team. Make Zealots carry 120 rounds, while Vets should carry around 160-175 rounds. Show the Ripper shotguns and Stubber some love too. I honestly don't mind the reloading, BUT THERE'S JUST NOT ENOUGH AMMO. I understand this is a heavily melee-focused game, but Ripper shotguns need ATLEAST another 60-80 more rounds. I don't mind the reloading, but they def need more spare ammo. Stubbers (especially the slow shooting one) feels like I'm shooting Nerf MegaDarts at times. They NEED a DMG buff (especially the slow one). Like I said again, I understand this game is heavily melee focused, I have over 700hours of gameplay (400 of those were from Day 1 release-Skill tree update). I just want to have some Heretic-killing fun with my ranged toys from time to time and it get's SOO boring when you're kind of forced to only play melee most of the time because you're afraid you might waste all of your ammo in one fight.
Ammo and damage are not a problem at all. Only gun that does suffer from an ammo problem is the ripper but you can still make it work very well. Just make sure you’re not wasting ammo when you don’t need to and make sure your build is properly set up to be a range build. Also check the blessing on your gun and make sure they’re built for the role that you want them to be used for whether that be max damage, armor pen, horde clear, or special killer.
I'd like to think someone at FS is paying attention to these good suggestions. Maybe they are!
Sure seems like it. A victory for me it seems.

Fatshark is watching, listening...
Good video !
Whats the dump stat for the bolter ? Collat, mobility or stability ?
Mobility
Wish there weas more bolt gun marks
I haven't played in ages, and my bolter was epically good, wonder if the patches have made it better
They have
The bolter is so good now that i TAKE IT INSTEAD OF REVOLVER on my zealot 😂😂
Bolter time 😎
W patch overall
Fun fact, the bolter from DT is wielded by Sisters of Battle. The actual bolter is too massive to wield by a human
The bolter weilded in DT is a pattern used by the Adepta Arbites. The Godwyn-Diaz, not the Locke pattern, bolt gun what Sisters of Battle use.
Reginald OP! did you try using the reticle changing mod to see what the yaw and sway jank is on the bolt pistol? there is a reticle that is a cross that shows the barrel yaw and sway pretty well.
Thats interesting. No I haven't tried that.
SM2 bolt weapons are a joke. I get that they want the game to be "hard" but making you feel like a weakling shooting pasta balls when you're supposed to be an Astartes is a bad feel. Spending 70% of ruthless games in a roll animation is pretty disrespectful to a 10 foot tall Primaris Space Marine too.
The roll nonsense is why I learned to melee and parry. I hate rolling marines.
Primaris aren't 10 feet tall tho.
Yeah pretty disrespectful to have bolters fire nerf darts and for the SM to to do the goofy Dark Souls rolling.
Absolutely agreed. When the hype dies and they dont fix all the major problems… the game will lose most of its players
@@LordVader1094 ~10 feet tall is typical for a Primaris. Firstborn Space Marines are ~8 feet tall with Primaris being a couple heads taller.
been having sm fun with the bolter just curious if u had to pick a dump stat on it would u choose mobility or stability ?
Mobility
I only have one issue with the bolter really, and that's that I have to cock the damn thing when I reload with a round chambered.
Agreed
Можно было показать какие ты выбрал благословения и улучшения на болтеры!
heavy bolter for Ogryn when
Soon I wish.
nice
Are we going to get some new psyker builds with the tree rework?
Oh hell yes I am
Pistol bolter is better than sex.
Fuck yeah.
You know a weapon is good when people cry in the forums about it making the game too easy when there is a vet running it
I’m running my zealot with the auto pistol but I wanna use the bolt pistol so bad 🤣 what would you suggest for perks and stuff to use? I run a crit zealot with the dueling saber right now so I only ever pull my ranged when I need to clear a pack real quick and stagger hence why I think bolt pistol would be nice.
Surgical and puncture is goated. Run n gun instead of surgical works too.
@@Reginald-sc9tk Is that explosions close up one not any good? I was thinking that and puncture would be nice because I’m always critting and bleeding and that explosive one staggers like crazy
@@Venti_Depresso Its not that its fundamentally bad, but if you're close enough for it to matter you can just melee and otherwise why are you worrying about stagger when you could just lay to waste everything in front of you?
@@Reginald-sc9tk so true.
So what’s the best boltgun build now? I’ve been running pinning fire 4 and puncture 4 and I’ve been getting TONS of damage out of that. Is there anything better?
Only thing that could be better is pinning and shattering impact but I suspect puncture is better due to +power effecting bleed
@@Reginald-sc9tk does calvicade affect bleed stacks?
Wait, does the Zealot ability still affect guns? I thought they fixed that a while ago.
Not at all. That's old data vs new data.
Could you tell me where in this weapon there is an armor reduction feature?
Shattering impact causes brittleness.
I still don't like how extremely similar the boltgun and bolt pistol are, their damage tables are exactly the same. the far larger and heavier boltgun should be hitting harder at some sort of cost imo but these buffs and fixes are great.
There's no basis for the bolt gun and Bolt Pistol to do different things. They're using the same projectile.
@@Reginald-sc9tk they're different calibers so yes there is a basis and no they're not using the same projectile, they're using the same kind of projectile. I don't mean different in function I mean distinctively different in damage. You can't have a larger, slower, and more cumbersome weapon and expect to be functionally nearly indistinguishable as a one that was literally made to be more usable by non-superhumans. As it stands the boltgun is fine in the current meta but again I feel like it should be even punchier than it is compared to its smaller cousin.
@@Reginald-sc9tk to be honest I'm a bit annoyed by your lack of response and flagrant misrepresentation of what I actually said but I shouldn't expect a reply at this point nor a reply at all to begin with. Why I am following up a week old reply I made is beyond me but whatever.
Is there any build talent and blessing wise for the bolter on Veteran?
I'll have a video soon
@@Reginald-sc9tk That's nice, I want to run a viable build, but I don't want to bring down my team in the process.
It never left. Tap left and right mouse for single shot hipfire. Its god tier.
Solves ads jank if your servitor candidate filth. Ive been playing since launch. 6 months with a god tier bolt gun, ive never had a single issue handling my bolt gun.
they were never not useable....
I wish they made it "hard" to use again i oike being rhe only person running bolt and being very handy with it
I never said they weren't usable. Few knew this but they've been good the whole time. Its just they have issues which are mostly fixed.
True. It was good against the orthus twins and that was a time when nobody used it and for some reason I still feel a bit salty. The feeling bad you refer to and ads jank I never realized or never realized I noticed was a problem. It was always faster to sort of cheese it. I call it "pulling shots" were u ads fire let go and ads back in quickly to reset recoil and get rid of the wingers you'd get. I had just come off the game arguing with fellow rejects trying to make a case for the bolt pistol since I hadn't played for a while and suddenly found our the bolt pistol was in.
I won't ask you to make a video covering bolt pistol but I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere but the shove shot for bolt pistol does have a further use, you can fire two rounds in very quick succession doing a shove-hipfire-hipfire which is good if you've got a flak/crusher build.
Didnt mean come off as toxic my bad. I like that you discuss things other channels don't. I wondering some of them even play
@@mathewhex7045 Not to worry, I took no offense.
As to covering the bolt pistol I have a tutorial on it that's reasonably thorough though I wasn't aware of that shortened double shot you mention. Cheers for the tip.
How does a REJECT fire a *bolter* without getting his guts blown across the room by the recoil or the blast? I thought these things would be like a heavy weapon to anyone but a Space Marine.
That's space marine bolters. This is an arbite bolter. For humans.
Sir, can i get that revolver 1 shot build please...
Yes, ill put up a short later today. Keep an eye out. Finishing another video first.
Dumb question, and im sure theres better places to ask, but for a melee vet where you bust out your ranged wep occasionally, is the laspistol any good? I have 0 mastery in it as ive never really used it before, but I'm currently using the bolt pistol and I love it but i like how the laspistols feel easier to spam. I've heard people trash talk the las pistol and sing its praises so figured id ask an opinion here
The people who don't know about the laspistol just don't know. Its a crit daemon. Huge bonus to crit when ADS, I think its like 25%. Take infernus and dumdum at watch bosses melt AND everything else
@@Reginald-sc9tk word??? Building one now thanks pimp, no one has ever told me WHY it's good or WHY it's bad so it's good to have an explanation for once
You sound like Raycevick.
Thats the second time I've heard that. Its certainly a compliment.
wait, since when were bolters full auto and not burst?
How long have I been gone?
They have always been full auto, minimum fire from hip is 2 shots.
@@Reginald-sc9tk ive lost my mind then.
nice to see it get buffed, maybe used it once before. Its gonna take a lot though to get me away from revolver though...

Just drag that mouse down and click the lmb like it owes you money.
You do know bolter is full auto from the hip, right? Saves clicks ;)
Low Ammo still bad!
Git gud/10 take
So this is why i had to be the range in a team with 2 vets in that diff 3 high intense shock troop, then again that team was sooooo dogshit. Like just trash, i do not care for meta but PLEASE kill something, i was alome for what had to be 10 mins straight, recued them all, then was alone again in 5
My brother in the emperor's service if you're complaining about anything in difficulty 3 you need to focus on yourself, not your team. Difficulty 5 can be soloed. Its downright fun to solo high difficulty. If your team is dead in difficulty 3 be glad the game finally got slightly fun.
@@Reginald-sc9tk I will admit it was very fun to play alone, however the issue I had was this was the special ammo mission, there was no universe I could move the boxes by myself in that shit show, if ogryn, maybe, but no chance as zealot, it’s not that it was hard to survive or unfun, it’s that I we physically couldn’t win
@@well8250 That can be a tough one to solo. So I get you. But it can be done. That's the really fun thing about Darktide. Good luck in your quest.
@@Reginald-sc9tk I nearly did do it too, just a squad of maulers snuck up behind me and hit a heavy on my last wound so it wasn’t reduced while omw to go pick 2 of em up… again

space marine 2 is mid and darktide is infinitely superior in every way change my mind
Why change your mind when you're right? The only thing SM2 does better is cool executions and raw spectacle.
@@Reginald-sc9tk saying "change my mind" after what can be considered a hot take is just a meme. im serious though, sm2 is really not good
They NEED to give more spare ammo to the Boltgun and Ripper shotguns.
I think its a balance consideration. You can't have the weapons hit as hard as they do and be usable all the time.
