I did this exact same thing. And it worked perfectly!! THANKS for posting this. Amazing what you can learn on a cell phone. I've poured concrete my whole adult life and this method works great
I am in Livingston county . I don’t know why I have this in my suggested videos but I have not been to that marina or across either dam since the 2009 ice storm. Next time I am in grand rivers I will have to check it all out.
I believe this is the ramp at Kentucky Dam Village. That's on the Western shore of Kentucky Lake, not Land Between the Lakes. LBL is the land between Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley.
Here in the U.K. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a slipway this wide that isn’t for like a ferry! Part of this is maybe because a lot more boats are stored on the water, so there’s less likely to be a huge rush, and hence queue, at the start or end of the day if you can only launch one or two boats side by side.
Yes, traditionally a coffer dam would be build and pumped out, but this method worked very well. The old ramp was broken uo and used as a base for the new ramp - considering the loads on the ramp that far in the water are very low, I don't see an issue - it was heavily reinforced so it will stay together as one big slab for decades.
It is absolutely the best ramp launching my boat from my wheelchair!!

Thanks guys!!!! These wide ramps are nice when your trying to get launched just before daylight!
That sure beats the time and expense of building a coffer dam t do it. Nice work. 👍
I literally just watched a video about a boat ramp being made.
What's my life coming to?
Well it’s a damn fine ramp...
I'm right there with you. 🤣
Quarantine 2020 got me watching any damn thing.
will there ever be a boat ramp in New England where you don’t drop off the end on low tide?
Finally they added lane markers on the ramp. Should have gone all the way up into the lot though.
My grand father has a boat there and I remember when we would put in other boats it was really steep
that was cool to watch
So that's how they do it
This is one way and a bit more convenient and less time consuming and less costly than a damn using sheet pile and pour-in-place
I am interested in how the grade is constructed to match the need pitch in the water. Any insight?
WOW, that's ingenious.
risky business pushing ramp into water but yet impressive. well done
Amazing idea.
Awesome video!
that lineup of the dozer scene was funny
Intimidating
30 miles from me... it's at land between the lakes in western Kentucky

1 day St. Louis will get 1 !!!! 1 day.
Because sliding friction < static friction 3:15 Why are the grooves straight and not angled?
So the water drains back into the lake, and doesn't grow slippery bacteria on the ramp.
They’re angled slightly it’s hard to see
Comment on man youdoing it wrong, stated heavily reinforced, doing concrete work 45 years, half inch bar on large centers not to heavy
Very impressive!
Still looks steep as hell.
way to go
damn Kentucky has some small ass boat ramps lol!
Here in the U.K. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a slipway this wide that isn’t for like a ferry!

How did Batman launch the batboat?
That was cool
i thought they usually damn off the water then pore the concrete.
Justin Brown Haha that's what I thought to
Pour.....as in pour the concrete, or pour water.. Not a pore....as in the pores of your skin.
Concrete can and is poured under water all the time. They say it actually cures better under water.
Another way is to build a cofferdam
You don't have to thank the guy from the state. He didn't do anything.
Wonder if there’s any holes under it
Wow
Why are these guys riding the boat ramp into the water?
I live in eastern Kentucky but have had the opportunity to see this ramp this summer
Me too
where is this?
KY Dam Marina, Gilbertsville KY.
interesting!
No need to 👎 if you don't like the show 😉 don't watch it
Man, y’all are doing that all wrong
R Yeckley not trying to be a dick....serious inquiry. How should they have done it?

Cole Waldron would be waaaay more effort+money
interesting!
