this is seriously one of the most underrated pedals ever! i have fooled people into thinking i had a dual or triple rec w this. if you set it right and have the right guitar and speakers, you can raise a TON of hell with this thing!!! ibanez killed it.
I agree that smashbox is everything a rock guitarist would need when comes to dialing the right sound. i had mine in late 90s, stopped using it after switching to multi effect. However, now it is out of its box onto my pedalboard. Loving it again.
I remember loving this pedal when it came out, and guitar center being sold out when I went to buy it. Alas, it never saw the limelight during the gong show.
I got one because of JHS vlogs, I gotta say it's great for what it is. I don't use it for leads since I got a throttle box now, but it's in my live rig for whenever I need some t h i c c chugs. Great for bass too, actually.

A distortion pedal able to cut out feedback or that highpich squeal and the dreaded loud sound of nothingness was the best thing any recording artist could ask for! I got a turbo ratt with filter now, but just isn't the same.
I just bought one on reverb. I want an insane-gain pedal for the board & it was this or the Metal Core. I chose this because I have a lot of boss pedals already.
Sounds like it needs to be connected either to an amp or cab sim to get rid of that fizziness you get when lining a pedal straight in. I can see a lot of potential for this little thing in the right context.
Sounds Horrid!! I don't recall this pedal sounding this bad. Are you playing it through a solid state amp? This pedal sounds best played through a tube amp.
Try some compressed air or electrical contact cleaner. I thought mine was going dead months ago until I used some contact cleaner and haven't had any issues since.
Nah, he just didn't bite. Shitting on all Line6 products based on a few bad modelling amps is stupid. Depending on what kind of POD it is, you can sound damn good.

I think he just didn't have the noise gate on, I had it for a week before I realized "void" is actually "noise gate"

It would be the perfect distortion pedal if it had a mid pot in the EQ; good pedal for scooped comping but not for leads or soloing
This pedal has quit a bit of a mid hump built into the circuit. To get a scooped sound you'd have to raise the highs and lows.
