    I accidentally left a Lush Mask of Magnaminty in my shower, I forgot it had to go in the fridge when I was 16. That was the last Lush product I ever used. Absolutely my fault, no questions asked, but my face was full of cystic acne the next day and the jawline was the worst. The next day I checked the mask and the mould had properly BLOOMED. Preservatives are important! And I am awfully allergic to nature like plants and animals so essential oils are stupid for me to use directly on my skin.

    • @lloves10
      @lloves10 3 года назад +15

      The thing is, that they directly advertise this as one of their face masks that does not need to be refrigerated. They say that it should last approximately 3 months while stored in a cool dry place. I have always been a massive advocate for the brand but in recent years they’ve irked me more than usual. They seem unwilling to move with the times and some of the ingredients that they are using don’t penetrate the skin, so this video certainly rang true with me. If you ever give Lush a try again, their body lotions are some of the best that I’ve ever tried. ☺️

      This! The research shows that Olive oil actually boosts the activity of the bacteria that cause acne (Malestizia) hence why you should not use olive oil on your face if you have Acne. The same applies for if you have dandruff as they are caused by the same bacteria. Also most olive oil is heavily adulterated anyway.

    A really good friend of mine, and the sweetest girl ever in Sweden, struggled with really bad and “aggressive” psoriasis in her scalp. She had on her hands and body too, but her scalp was the worst. And the saddest part of this whole psoriasis ordeal was that she got it from stress. She probably had PTSD from being in a real horrible Charles Dickens like foster home where the foster parents bullied her daily and other mean things. So if she, in her struggle, stumbled upon people like that Herb Apothecary dude, who wants to further take her money and hope just to basically abuse her even further..
    That’s so horrible and evil on so many levels. And it royally pisses me off.
    What’s also scary is that this man, like many of these neo-hippies, seems so nice and caring. He probably could sell snow to eskimos 🤷‍♀️

    • @AamuAurora
      @AamuAurora 3 года назад +10

      I don't wanna be mean and I know nothing asked me for my opinion. We didn't need to know the medical history of your friend, nationality, gender and trauma, to understand that you have a close friend, who was hurt in the past and that you're worried that some people could use her pain against her, promising her fast and easy panacea. You didn't have to reveal reason of her PTSD, horror behind her trauma to say that if she put her trust in bad people, it could be used against her. I don't accuse you of being a bad person, but a story that you use so casually, as a mean to bring more seriousness to your comment, is somebody's reality, and you shouldn't retell it like this, on RUclips comment section. Don't make it a precedence, always reply on your own feeling, opinions when talking; if you commented that you were disgusted by scammers, afraid that your awesome friend could have been an easy target because of her issues, it would be totally acceptable. Never use people's personal experiences that they shared with you, even if they were casual about it. Not everybody remembers to ask for non disclosure agreement. Plus, a comment as descriptive as yours, is too much, even if you didn't tell her name. This stories shouldn't be retold, even anonymously -- it's not about shame but about respect for one's experience. You can say as much as you want, how are you feeling about your friend, their experience without spilling everything on RUclips comment. You can write about your feelings and attitude towards your friend without oversharing and breaking her trust. For sure, she won't know, people don't know who is she, but it's about respect, care and compassion when keeping someone's secrets or stories. They're saint, whenever someone asked you to keep it a secret or randomly shared story of their life when playing Mario. I'm sorry, I got bit personal, because I'm shocked. Like, I can imagine to share someone's lifetime of abuse so casually on RUclips comment section under a video about skincare. It's not even consolation attempt, or a video where victims of abuse unite and share their traumas. Your abilities of listening and making people feel comfortable must be great if people share their traumas with you. Your moral obligation is to keep it to yourself. It's not about anonymity but about principles. For sure you care for your friend and you didn't mean to do anything bad, yet Im thinking about this dichotomy -- you share it casually, without a reason under a beauty video and she has to live with it. Be a good friend, never share stories that aren't yours so casually, without a reason. You could have said your point regardless medical history of your friend.

    • @annab.3952
      @annab.3952 3 года назад +3

      This is not true. Corticosteroids don't flare up psoriasis, they heal it. In your case I would say the steroids you take for asthma by inhalation are not enough to cure psoriasis because they are stuck in lungs and do not work systematically, therefore you need to use topical steroids on top. And the KP is definitely not from topical steroids clogging your pores, KP is caused by overpriduction of keratin. Keratin is clogging your pores, not the steroid creams.
      I can see your situation sucks, I have KP and seborrhoic dermatitis myself, I just wanted to point out that your problems are not connected in the way you described. Hope you get better with those health issues!

However, soursop and sarsaparilla does have healing properties and just like many ancient remedies, it has worked for many people. This guy is someone who is only promoting their shop for profit and while this is not triggering for me (because let's be honest, not every medical study means that it is the evidence that we need to prove that it works), this is dangerous for anyone to do this to make money.

My armpits literally turn red and feel like they’re burning. While I don’t like aluminum in my deodorant still (mainly because it’s what cause yellow stains on my white shirts), I have to make sure that any aluminum-free deodorant I buy does NOT have baking soda. If it does that to my armpits, I can’t even imagine what it would do to my face.

My son especially was a “chewer” and would bite occasionally causing open cuts to my nipples and one of the cures was to drip milk onto it and allow my skin to air out. It was also helpful in the beginning stages of nursing when you have chapped/sore nipples and is often part of the treatment of mastitis symptoms externally. Never thought to put it on my face which I sort of regret now lol

    Question: my skin is sensitive. Would it make sense to use a salicylic acid on only my nose (for blackheads) and a gentler cleanser everywhere else?

    • @tinyteeshirtrex1450
      @tinyteeshirtrex1450 3 года назад +1

      I think it depends how sensitive and where, I'm not sensitive on my nose so I use an SA cleanser there and no irritation! My cheeks however are very sensitive and if I use an SA cleanser its irritating.

    • @epicalduck
      @epicalduck 3 года назад +1

      I would do just a general cleanser and use SA separately and apply locally, like in a serum or something.

    • @cuzynot6880

      I think you should just use a simple cleanser and see how your skin handles it the first couple of days of using it and just make your skin get used to it- I have super sensitive skin as well and I use the CeraVe foaming cleanser, but Cetaphil works fine as well, just that it doesn’t have as many benefits other than skin hydration.

    One day my younger dumber self decided to use a different brand of “self warming” mask since my usual was sold out and I love how they feel // use it as an extra cleansing step on some special self care days. Well, what I didn’t know instead of the typical brand I purchase that lists zeolite as the warming ingredient.... this off brand contained GINGER instead. This explains why I got a itchy rash like reaction and had to wash it off immediately and very thoroughly. (I’m allergic to many peppers and don’t eat them but I never thought about looking out for that in skincare!!!)

    Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease it is NOT a "skin condition". Yes it shows up (with plaque psoriasis) as raised areas of abnormal skin but it is not a skin condition. Plus there are several different types of psoriasis...plaque psoriasis seems to be the most common. It is also a majority of the time hereditary. As someone who has dealt with plaque psoriasis for at least 35 years it can be very painful and yes there is no cure as of now. All you can do is learn to deal with it and manage it as best you can.

    I don’t think a lot of people know how bad psoriasis can be.. my mum has it and she’s had it since childhood, she has every type of psoriasis as well as psoriatic arthritis, she has tried everything including these natural herbal remedies and the only thing that gives her a bit of relief is the steroid creams and sun but living in England we don’t get much of that. I’ve seen the pain this causes her not just physical but emotional as well, her hair is falling out because it’s took over her scalp and she pretty much doesn’t have any skin under her breast it’s completely raw, not to mention the countless infections she’s had. So listening to this man makes me mad on a whole other level, the ‘natural remedies’ he’s selling doesn’t work and hes preying on peoples desperation and insecurities to sell his bullshit.

      Hydrating toners and face mists. If they don’t have a spray nozzle, and they have a screw top (versus an aerosol type spray) you can decant them into a spray bottle and then spritz your skin throughout the day whenever you need a refresher versus washing your face or splashing it with water constantly. That’s what I do.

    hey queen! i saw on tiktok that diy saltwater can help with acne and darkspots on the long run, some people also say that the saltwater actually kills the bacteria that causes the acne. is this true?

    • @littleflick
      @littleflick 3 года назад +5

      Saltwater is slightly microbial (kills bacteria) but it’s not likely to do anything in the quantities people are using as it’s very weak. Saltwater is also alkaline (like baking soda) which probably isn’t great for your skin. Acidic treatments tend to work better for acne.
      There is some evidence that exposure to seawater does help with acne, but they don’t really know why. And it’s unlikely that you could replicate it at home mixing tap water and salt.
      If saltwater was a good treatment for acne everyone would be using it.
