There was no hand handling in the game, no guides, no internet, nothing to help me. I got stuck in some places for months and I can't tell you how satisfied I was when I figure things out. I learned how to explore, how to remember paths I need to back track, I learned to dare to try crazy things, I learned to control my fears, to think out of the box and most importantly, I learned to never let go! Thank you lara croft for what you taught me.
When I was in second grade, I played Legend of Zelda all the time and like you, there were no guides for it (probably because no one plays Legend of Zelda). When I beat a dungeon, I would get so excited! One time, I stopped playing for a month because I was raging, came back to it and beat it! I was so happy. I am still stuck in a dungeon in Legend of Zelda to this day. Help.
so true... i tell people that all the time... you get more attached to character because for the majority of the game you are that character and as they work their way through their story you are right there with them rooting them on, feeling their pain, or happiness... more so then just watching actors portray a character on TV. Devin Schug What i'm saying is that since Call of Duty will start to be so old and outdated it will feel like pacman now. If you get what i'm trying to say.
+Melee Huijbens pacman might be better than COD but that game will not make you smarter than playing COD or any other game that has multiplayer mode. I mean you can play CS, battlefield, Halo etc if you don't like COD. All of them will make you smarter than playing pacman.

***** You should make a new habit of taking a dozen extra extra seconds considering that what anyone says - no matter how strange it sounds to you - might be true.
I have been playing COD from the past 2 years. I have observed that my Reaction Speed, attention to detail, decision making speed has increased, ability to perceive a problem clearly and arrive at a solution has increased significantly.
True but the reason a lot of people think games are bad is because you can increase these skills without video games and much faster in a more natural way with more benefits (health / fitness / useful at jobs) for example: Maths - Ability to perceive a problem clearly and arrive at a solution has increased significantly Football - Decision making speed has increased Art - Attention to detail Dodgeball - Reaction speed Consider too that the skills you choose to develop may in isolation be useless in real life (e.g. fast reaction time but obese and slow) or not be easily applied to any job you do in the future. There are also tradeoffs spending all your time in front of a screen e.g fitness levels, myopia and bad eye sight and so on... this leads many people to see it as a waste of time when you could probably just work harder in school (Maths / Art) and exercise (Football / Dodgeball) and get the exact same results in less time with positive side effects instead of negative. Not to say games aren't amazing and very fun but just my perspective.
@@unnamed7158 a lot? More like a few people. Probably, but it's subjective, and no, wrong..without video games, learning those wouldn't be as fun & enjoyable, and even some of the things you've mentioned, like math, school, etc are actually more frustating than entertaining, lol, thus, make you much slower at learning..but in video games, internet, etc, learning those can be fun & entertaining. Also, pls explain what makes you think video games aren't as natural as footballs, maths, etc? Who said that video games can't give you health benefits, fitness, etc? The "video games only have bad effects" is just a plain myth, and has been debunked by a lot of people..btw, in fact, many people learned about things through video games, youtube, etc much more than in schools. Math video games exist..math itself for a lot of people is actually more frustating than entertaining. You can also learn problem-solving in video games effectively without being frustated. Video games about football exist..btw, you act that footballs don't have bad effects, lol..their bad effects can actually be way worse, for example, extreme physical injuries. Video games is a form of art So, you think dodgeballs don't have bad effects? If video games give you bad effects such as eye problems, then dodgeballs can also give you physical injuries, lol. Both have their own pros and cons..again, video games can also make you better at reaction speed as good as them, and they're not just about balls, since video games vary differently. Wdym in isolation? Lol, what makes you think playing video games requires you to be in isolation? Also, playing video games DON'T automatically make you obese or fat, as long as you still do fitness. Why? Tell me the reason..you probably just making up things. Yes, because spending all your time doing nothing in front of a screen is basically the same as having fun, learning cognitive skills, problem-solving, better reaction speed, learning things through them, for example, languages, animals, etc, reducing stress, improving brain & mental health, and many more. Also, everything has its own pros and cons, not only video games..so, you're being inconsistent here, for example, football can lead into physical injuries, concussions, traumatic brain injuries, etc..math, for a lot of people, is much more frustating than entertaining, so they would actually be more stressful rather than a way to learn. schools are mostly about grades & passing, not learning..in fact, i learned things much more through video games, movies, RUclips, google, etc than in schools, lol..schools are actually frustating & stressful. Sure, you can work harder in them, but again, it would just be more stressful & depressing..while in video games, movies, internet, etc, you can learn without worrying about depression and stuff, and you don't need to work as hard. Again, math video games exist..but it's not the only genre that you can learn about problem-solving, most of other genre of video games can make you better at it. Lol, who said that footballs don't have bad benefits? Like i said before, everything has its own pros and cons, not just video games..if video games can lead to eye problems, then football actually can lead to physical injuries, high rates of concussions, traumatic brain injuries, etc. "less time", that's subjective..you can get the exact same results by playing video games, but with much more varied things, while football, dodgeball, etc are just about balls, while video games vary differently. Lmao, are you joking or what? You think video games only have bad effects and don't have positive effects? Lol, this video and the entire comment section prove the other way around..again, playing video games can lead to numerous positive effects, such as cognitive skills, improving mental & brain health, problem-solving, learning things such as languages, animals, countries, etc, which disproves all of your claims. Yes, that's just your perspective, and your perspective is bad and you definitely should feel bad about it.
+Jeffry Maiato "if you can't see that wtf is wrong with u lol" First of all, you said spelled "you" correctly but then decided you want to be a moron. Secondly, if I was born with worse vision than someone else that doesn't mean I should be compared to a lunatic.
yeah me too.its because when NPCs gives you a quest you listen and try to find out what they want hence you try to understand what they try to say.I say english teachers use videogames to teach people English.
The answer is yes. I learned new words and it inspired me to learn to languages. I'm learning Italian now because I was obsessed with Assassin's Creed and Ezio speaks it. I was at school and I recently finished assassin's creed 3, we were doing a test on the Revolutionary War and the question was "who was the French man that helped the colonies". I remembered assassin's creed and I remembered it was the Marquis Lafayette. I also learned surviving skillsl
I hate when people say video games are violent or a waste of time, and yet EVERYONE is always watching rated R movies. at least you interact with it when you play video games, movies are sitting there staring at a screen while not moving.
I don't know if this is related to gaming but, I think playing video games gave me a better vocabulary. Someone correct me if this has nothing to do with video games.
I'm from Brazil. Video games taught me English, since there were almost no Portuguese games at the time I was a kid. Could you want more than that on vocabulary? I can safely state that I have a better vocabulary than a good part of North American people I've met in the internet.
It sure improved mine... I learned plenty of works from playing Nancy Drew games when I was younger, and I used to pronounce the word 'citadel' like "kit-ay-dull" until I first heard Barney say it in Half-Life 2...
I agree also. The stimulation that video games provide- along with multiplayer chat- Can endow more sophisticated and refined words. I mean it, walk up to any suspected Gamer and speak to them with defined words as such above, and they'll most likely understand your meanings. :P :D
Gaming certainly made vast improvements to my vocabulary. I'm the kind of gamer that will read all of my quests because I enjoy the stories, which grants the added benefit of introducing me to many new and interesting words.
Games are definitely good for your brain, most games do need skills and brain power to play especially strategy and mmorpg which increase your creativity and shooters increase your alertness so i am happy to play them whenever i can
I remember my days of Runescape as a kid. Typing speed came from learning to return insults to a stranger before they logged out or ran. 😂 And when they follow you after your response, you have to disappear first.
Yeah, I noticed it too but I am happy that evidence of games improving your brain exists. You can use it to dispute non-gamers' claims against video games. I find that to be quite satisfying. Games like Professor Layton and Ace Attorney actually improved my argument skills and puzzle solving skills. I still have 2 PL and 3 AA games to play so that's neat. Shooting games increased my reaction time, RPG games taught me many life lessons and improved my vocabulary. Strategy games like Fire Emblem improves, well, strategy. Challenging games builds my courage, determination and will power. Pretty sure there's more. I just play them for fun but the benefits is a welcome bonus.
True but you can improve those quickly and in a more easily applicable way Dodgeball - Reaction time, Study religion and philosophers - life lessons Practice writing stories and reading - improved my vocabulary Playing sports - strategy Proper self motivation everyday learning how to have internal drive - Courage, determination and will power. The problem is when these games are taken away will you be able to compete with someone in real life in terms of reaction time who practices in real life vs you who practices in a game. The answer is likely no also many parents dream is for their childs to be successful and nearly all of the things above as alternatives correlate with higher income and better life outcomes than gaming: millionaires read more than average people, millionaires spend less time on devices and social media, millionaires spend more time playing sports. Also due to evolution the skills you don't use decay over time which of course causes concern for parents as children develop imaginary skills in games instead of real life applicable ones that will help them in life. This isn't meant to throw you of gaming I think it's wonderful just trying to explain the other side of the coin.
@@unnamed7158 playing video games can improve those things as good, fast, and applicable way.. It's subjective, and no, wrong..without video games, learning those wouldn't be as fun & enjoyable, and even some of the things you've mentioned, like math, school, etc are actually more frustating than entertaining, lol, thus, make you much slower at learning..but in video games, internet, etc, learning those can be fun & entertaining. Video games can improve your reaction time as quick as it..and you wouldn't get physical injuries, and they're leagues ahead in terms of variation..dodgeball is just about ball, while video games vary differently. Life lessons could also be achieved through playing games, and even better..again, some people find it not as entertaining & exciting as playing games, for example, in games, you're experiencing the stories in the games. What about people who don't know how to make stories then? Or people who doesn't like reading? Yes, you can, but playing video games can also improve it as good & fast..and it's much more fun & enjoyable, while at the same time learning things like vocabulary Strategy & sport games exist But again, it's subjective..and yes, playing video games can make you better at strategy as good as sports, you wouldn't get physical injuries, traumatic brain injuries, etc, and they're much more varied, not just about balls. Who said that you can't get motivations from games? Again, you're just talking nonsense. It's subjective, but yes you can..so your answer is likely no. Who said that you can't be successful as a gamer or by playing video games as one of the ways? And again, that's subjective, but yes video games can also come with income as good and life outcomes..yes, there are countless of examples of gamers, for example gaming RUclipsrs who live a happy life, which debunks your nonsense claim. Not all millionaires read more than average people Not all millionaires spend less time on devices Not all millionaires spend more time playing sports You're just generalizing people, m8. And do you think there aren't millionaire gamers? Yes there are, just a quick search and you'll find them. wdym by due to evolution the skills you don't use decay over time? That has nothing to do with this. Video games literally have tons of real life based skills..realism exists in even the most fantastious game. So your comment makes no sense Uh, yes? Playing video games can improve real life skills that would help us better in life, such as cognitive skills, and many more. But unfortunately, none of the things you've said was true.
well, i started playing when i was 3 I'm from Poland and (because all my games were english) i could read in english way better than i could in polish. now i have some problems in my country, i'm more likely to understand the messange when it's in english than when it's in polish. also i always got the best marks at school, games made everything way easier because i met with all those "school stuff" everyday. maths? well everywhere history? i was playing a lot of historic strategy games
I found this video to be really insightful and it provides an interesting perceptions of video games. I also found the "too much of everything" part to be extremely relevant to the elements presented in your video. I personally find that games tend to take the blame for issues that arise from misuse or abuse of gaming features or contents. Just like you stated, if someone dies from water toxicity, we would not start claiming that water is dangerous for health and yet quite a lot of people tend to place a lot of focus on the negative aspects of video games while simply overlooking the positive impacts that video games may have on social as well as mental health. I believe that for a lot of things we need to focus on the positive more than just berating anything simply for the sake of standing out or trying to seem like a special snowflake who does not follow current trends. All the positive aspects highlighted in your video would hopefully encourage a more welcoming perspective on video games. I just want to say kudos for this video and keep up the good work to change the mindset of our society on video games. #gaminglife
Before I watch this, I already know the answer yes it makes you smarter because you are doing something AND, they would get too much hate if that wasn’t the case.
Tetris is a great game to help you with organization and puzzling. I find myself pretty intuitive with measurements in spacing and being able to box and bag things easily without wasting space.
Lol I'm with you, but over time I've lost interest in games. They're still fun, but I ended up playing them less and less as I got older. That might happen to you as well. Happy gaming
What taught me history and got me interested in history, politics, current events at a young age (I could say I knew more than my fellow students) was two types of games. The Civilization series and the Total War series. I haven't played Assassin's Cred yet, but I am making it my next game.
Of course they do! Who wondered about this? Gaming can inspire you, stimulating your imagination and lead to giving birth to extremely unique and ahead of our time ideas. It is like opening a treasure chest, our own minds. It just needs some moderation, so it can fit in your program without prohibiting you taking care of tasks and enjoying other things, like going out or work on something you love.
I'm brazilian and I'm 100% fluent in English (in addition to being in the process of learning French and German) solely because of videogames. I'm 16, so the people I know are always really really skeptical when I say I didn't take any kind of English course. So there's a point for videogames.
Video games also helped me improve my english language. I started playing mmo's at the age of 12, which significantly boosted my english language. Gratuated high school with an above average score.
I doubt any of these studies test games that require substantial teamwork and coordination, probably one of the most beneficial skills games can have you practice.
Jake Smith, Well, it's better to have those outbursts of disagreement in a game than say, at your job or in some sort of high risk operation (Military, medical, etc.)
I remember when I was plucked out of public school to do homeschool, and one of my tasks for school everyday was to play a video game for an hour a day. My stepdad later told me that it's because the games he made me play (Death's Door, Chrono Trigger) would help me in puzzle solving and math. Needless to say, I wish I could go back to those homeschooling days, because I got to play video games at the start of every morning for school lol.
Nada Calanda it’s fake I have multiple gaming streaks more then anybody in my entire family and have surpassed my cousins gameplay time by billions try me
When I was a kid, I started learn English with Pokémon games, and I've noticed that my memory is so good because I remember all the games I played and all the details of them. I don't say you need to spend more time in video games that your work and studies, but is a good reward to give you after do something important to relax yourself.
I agree it's kinda funny. In his defense, Mario is Mario so we'll get the message. Also, it's harder to draw a 3D mario than a 2D pixel Mario. Good eye. I would have never noticed that.

And my parents say that video games doesn't help me stay alert in school... -.-
It does not. Gamers have a much stronger tendancy to belive they are alert when they are actually not.
***** You should make a new habit of taking a dozen extra extra seconds considering that what anyone says - no matter how strange it sounds to you - might be true.
Unless you are an mlg 360 faze no scoper
Ifkr, when parents do everything to keep you away from fucking games when they don't even do proper research about this
Let your parents watch this.
I have been playing COD from the past 2 years. I have observed that my Reaction Speed, attention to detail, decision making speed has increased, ability to perceive a problem clearly and arrive at a solution has increased significantly.
DANG I need that decision making speed
@@thomasvandermolen8144 Play video games :)
True but the reason a lot of people think games are bad is because you can increase these skills without video games and much faster in a more natural way with more benefits (health / fitness / useful at jobs) for example:
Maths - Ability to perceive a problem clearly and arrive at a solution has increased significantly
Football - Decision making speed has increased
Art - Attention to detail
Dodgeball - Reaction speed
Consider too that the skills you choose to develop may in isolation be useless in real life (e.g. fast reaction time but obese and slow) or not be easily applied to any job you do in the future.
Video games is a form of art
So, you think dodgeballs don't have bad effects?
@Just Chill ?
Far Cry 3 taught me the definition of insanity.
...Which is completely off...
Haha same.
Einstein taught me the definition of insanity
not in Blood Dragon
Skyrim taught me the language of the dragons

I learn English from games
skx132 same
Even a bit of other vocabulary on other languages like japanese and I also learned a bit of italian in assassins creed 2.
i don't think roblox will teach you much
Aleksandar Popovic Instead of "I am age", use "I am 10 (11) years old" lol. I doubt roblox don't teach english that much
yeah me too.its because when NPCs gives you a quest you listen and try to find out what they want hence you try to understand what they try to say.I say english teachers use videogames to teach people English.
Hecc yeah!!!
Ubisoft is from fillipino?
I'm going to show this to my mom.
Yep, i was thinking the same exact thing! LMAO
Problem solving/arguing covincing
Sam same! (:
yep, the best way to convince your mom that video games are guuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuud
I am going to rub this video all up in my parents face.
My brother played Bookworm when he was little and he is in the 5th grade and he spells better than my sister who is in the 10th grade!!
My teacher always says this "students learn better when they relate to something they know" and that is very true and i play videogames all the time.
From video games and youtube i learned english!
Same!
Wow! I hope luck for you!
Same I learned English from video games and youtube too
Same I'm Dutch and now I'm even learning German and Spanish with that.
CraftedWizardGirl wow nice!
Video games help you learn faster and think quickly on the fly.
videos games learn how to be STUPID DUDE
KizuJansen Villaruz then why i can say china? Im english
idk
Jevon Jackson learn more all story?
KizuJansen Villaruz He has better grammer than you degenerate.
Games are definitely good for your brain, most games do need skills and brain power to play especially strategy and mmorpg which increase your creativity and shooters increase your alertness so i am happy to play them whenever i can

Same, I need glasses but I could still read the small writing.
I remember my days of Runescape as a kid. Typing speed came from learning to return insults to a stranger before they logged out or ran. 😂 And when they follow you after your response, you have to disappear first.
Well, call of duty did give me eagle vision

Loaf Of Bread There’s more than one of them
Yeah, I noticed it too but I am happy that evidence of games improving your brain exists.
True but you can improve those quickly and in a more easily applicable way
Dodgeball - Reaction time,
Study religion and philosophers - life lessons
Practice writing stories and reading - improved my vocabulary
Playing sports - strategy
Proper self motivation everyday learning how to have internal drive - Courage, determination and will power.
Yes, you can, but playing video games can also improve it as good & fast..and it's much more fun & enjoyable, while at the same time learning things like vocabulary
Strategy & sport games exist
But again, it's subjective..and yes, playing video games can make you better at strategy as good as sports, you wouldn't get physical injuries, traumatic brain injuries, etc, and they're much more varied, not just about balls.
Not all millionaires read more than average people
Not all millionaires spend less time on devices
Not all millionaires spend more time playing sports
You're just generalizing people, m8.
And do you think there aren't millionaire gamers? Yes there are, just a quick search and you'll find them.
wdym by due to evolution the skills you don't use decay over time? That has nothing to do with this.
Video games literally have tons of real life based skills..realism exists in even the most fantastious game. So your comment makes no sense
Uh, yes? Playing video games can improve real life skills that would help us better in life, such as cognitive skills, and many more.
But unfortunately, none of the things you've said was true.
Legend of Zelda helped me teach me how to solve complex puzzles (Water temple specially)
Julián Martínez lol botw
I sometimes blew up the whole thing instead of solving the puzzle and solving it that way xD
Vayx Im still having trouble on the final trails for the master sword on botw

I'm from Poland and (because all my games were english) i could read in english way better than i could in polish.
now i have some problems in my country, i'm more likely to understand the messange when it's in english than when it's in polish.
also i always got the best marks at school, games made everything way easier because i met with all those "school stuff" everyday.
maths? well everywhere
history? i was playing a lot of historic strategy games
Age of Empires type of thing?
It's a rts like starcraft for the computer that probably would never be available on the button phone because it's too complex

PT0MCIO Gaming You should try playing HOI4. Its a fun historic strategy game.
Ain't nothing a waste of time if your having fun
Until you realize that everyone has to chip in to run the society to maintain modern life.
I watched this right after OD'ing on broccoli.
Tetris is a great game to help you with organization and puzzling. I find myself pretty intuitive with measurements in spacing and being able to box and bag things easily without wasting space.

Anyone remember that phrase?
What taught me history and got me interested in history, politics, current events at a young age (I could say I knew more than my fellow students) was two types of games.
The Civilization series and the Total War series.
I haven't played Assassin's Cred yet, but I am making it my next game.
Jetaum Palisso I really, really, really recommend it. Very, very, fun.

Thanks for this video AsapSCIENCE!
Now kids around the world will show this to their parents lol
i can speak english why... i play games thx games
(im dutch)
and i know a gaymar
I'm brazilian and I'm 100% fluent in English (in addition to being in the process of learning French and German) solely because of videogames. I'm 16, so the people I know are always really really skeptical when I say I didn't take any kind of English course.
So there's a point for videogames.

Video games also helped me improve my english language. I started playing mmo's at the age of 12, which significantly boosted my english language. Gratuated high school with an above average score.
I doubt any of these studies test games that require substantial teamwork and coordination, probably one of the most beneficial skills games can have you practice.
Max Barlow why are you going B, I said rush CAT. "Go drink bleach." Get good noob

Needless to say, I wish I could go back to those homeschooling days, because I got to play video games at the start of every morning for school lol.
the dots where ez and i can finally prove my parents wrong cause they say that gaming would make your eyes blind i never believed

Form a gamers prespective its just too funny seeing him talking about super mario 64 while drawing mario from super mario world.....
True
I agree it's kinda funny. In his defense, Mario is Mario so we'll get the message. Also, it's harder to draw a 3D mario than a 2D pixel Mario. Good eye. I would have never noticed that.
Lol I don't play mario... (Don't hate)
