Always appreciate the review James. We have 8 iron models to cover the spectrum of players - so would argue that 2 wedge options is pretty moderate. S23 definitely a little more stable than the T24 - but so much room for personal preference in a wedge.

Ok so given your comment re 2 wedges ( S23/T24 ) can I ask what about the wedges that come as part of a whole set !
Just got my son fitted for some new JPX 923 Hot metal irons yesterday and as yet haven’t decided on which wedges but the fitter did say he wouldn’t normally advise mizuno wedges but the ones in this range are particularly good for the higher handicap golfer !
Given I know next to nothing re grind and bounce and when you look at buying a mizuno wedge, the web can certainly throw up more than a handful of options !
It kind of reminds me of the open titles of the tv series M*A*S*H …. Confused ? You will be after the next episode of ….
Was my fitter right or might one of the aforementioned wedges be a better choice ?

@@therealisticgooner8267 If you want to get Mizuno wedges to match the JPX set, get the S23 wedges. They blend very nicely with JPX irons, have larger heads with more technology and mass manipulation to help control shots and add consistency.
Wedge bounces and grinds are pretty specific to both your individual swing as well as the course you play at (lots of grass, soft wet ground, bunker wedge, firm dirt or woods shots, etc.) Visiting a store to test different bounce/grind options is a good place to start, generally more bounce is better for softer ground while less bounce is better for firmer ground. However, some players like the added forgiveness of higher bounce wedges, so there is usually a minimum bounce that people won't go below. Best way to find out is to test some at the store.

@@therealisticgooner8267 If you’re not an advanced player, why worry about it so much? Most rental sets will just have an PW and a SW. And common wisdom says mid-bounce 50-52, high bounce 54-56, and low bounce 58-60. I would just go use one of those online configurators.
If you’re not advanced, imo, just play with 1 or 2 wedges and learn what you like. Or go get fitted. But imo, again, stop stressing about the minutiae and focus on fundamentals.

The t24’s a replacement for the t22 from 2021, while the s23’s are the replacement for the s21’s that were released in 2020.
The T wedges are more of a tear drop shape designed for players who like a bit more of a traditional looking wedge, while the S wedges are more are bit or a forgiving wedge.
So they’re are actually two different wedge lineups on released biannually.

Mizuno are having different wedge lineups. The T(our) model is refreshed every 2nd year. The S model is more in line with a normal set wedge, refresed every 2 years aswell. The number idicates the year they are being released to the market. The T24 is a forged wedge, most other wedges are not. I play the ES21 wedge, i started playing golf when they launced and they have been great, with my low skill lvl. But the S23 are looking great too my eye.

Not confusing at all and on a very fixed cycle: Mizuno's irons are on a 2 year cycles
    - MP series for blade/tradition lovers, usually lower handicap (and ie 221/221/225 -> 241/243/245) on even years,
    - JPX series for flat out tech, covering to higher handicappers eg 919, 921, 923 on odd years.
The wedges are also on a matching 2 year cycle, overlapped with different design philosophies.
    - T24 replaces T22., and are " conventional blade" designs.
    - S23 are more centre weighted and are designed to blend more with - guess - 923, so you get a full wedge range to fill in, rather than ordering the single bounce/grind option from the iron set.
As it happens, I have an S23 Gap wedge, to blend with my irons, for fuller shots and T22 for the Lob and Sand.
Cost - Vokey SM9 are also in the £150-160 range
Finally, bringing out a new one of same "family" every two years is probably reasonable - how often do us amateurs actually replace our wedges?

Im glad all of the comments are calling James out for not understanding that every single manufacturer does the same thing, they have 1 or 2 wedge lineups that refresh biannually, usually on alternate years. Mizuno does the same thing as everyone else lol. Its clear James didn't really look into this before making a video unfortunately...
S-series wedges are Mizuno's larger head/more forgiving line. T-series wedges are the Vokey competitors that have more of a tour/blade profile and a smaller teardrop shape head. The number after the wedge is the year that it came out, they release a new wedge every two years for each series and the year alternates (S21 then T22 then S23 then T24 for example). I think both the S and T-series wedges look beautiful and every single review I have found over the past year has been overly positive about both.

Also, I replace wedges fairly often, have a graveyard of SM7/8 and T22s- I think there are a lot of us out here that don't replace all wedges every year but the odd one does get upgraded each year. They get so much use its madness to think they will last years and years. Grooves wear down, especially here on mud island where we don't clean the grooves after every shot.

Anyway. Have been playing Mizuno and recently switching to Ping i525, I just got myself a S23-50 because frankly the i525 pitching wedge is just too hot for chipping if you hit it dead center, plus the gap to my 52 degree GW was getting too big on full shots. It felt sooo comfortably soft again (not to mention predictable as an avid toe striker) that I just ordered 2 more to replace my old Callaway MD3's that now suddenly feel really harsh by comparison. Which top named brand 2023/24 new wedge, club isn’t expensive? Fairways costing what a new driver cost, hybrid now cost as fairway woods, irons 6 iron sets cost what 8 iron blades cost.
I’m interested in the t24 wedge because of the 56 v grind which is like vokey’s M grind. I will get whichever is cheaper when time to replace my still excellent condition sm5 m grind 56

Terrible take. These are different products for different golfers and shouldn't compete with each other at all. I wish more companies had more forgiving wedge options as most people don't need a blade wedge.

They are different wedge models. They have different characteristics.
I'm not sure if you really were not aware of this OR, if you deliberately ignored this difference in order to make this video and to capture more views. Frankly, I think it is likely the latter, which seems a bit dishonest. (If it is the former - well, you ought to know better.)

So I think vids like these expose that you're not paying attention. Mizuno releases an update to certain lines every 2 years, which is more respectable than a lot of other companies, in my opinion. The T series wedge and S series wedge are aimed at different players. So if I'm an "S series guy," seeing a wedge update every 2 years isn't offensive at all. It's the same as the MP and JPX range...different targets. Come on James! :)

Yes mate… I’m paying zero attention at all… meanwhile Vokey are releasing 1 wedge in this time just like I said in this video… if you believe that the 2 wedges are for different “forgiveness”… then I can’t help you 👏🏼👍🏼

No idea why anyone would buy a Mizuno wedge over a vokey for the same price............... Worlds most proven wedge v a wedge no one plays, same as their drivers, why would anyone choose a Mizuno driver over a TM or Callaway? If Mizuno cant be bothered to market them better and get them in tour bags why would I be interested in them? Just my opinion.
