Very cool video and thanks for the shoutout! Love what you guys are doing. If you feel the mat slide over time you can use heavy duty velcro or carpet tape to keep it in place. I did that with mine. Also if you use some cheap interlocking rubber workout panels or better yet even horse stall mats you can eliminate any bounceback you guys are getting off of those outdoor pavers when the ball hits it after falling from the net. Should stop it dead in its tracks and if you line the height up right it could provide a straight smooth putting line all the way to the net from the mat for the mevo+ to accurately read putts. Keep up the great work!!
Hey all - I’ve been using this mat for the last 6 months. I just upgraded to the country club elite. I have a pretty steep attack angle as an FYI. This is a good starter mat but it sheds A LOT and I have to clean my clubs off prior to every round. You do get good feel but over time the mat has worn away, most likely due to the fibers shedding away. For my usage (hitting on the sim 3-5 times a week) and my attack angle I wouldn’t buy this mat again. Great price point but worth sharing my experience.
just bought mine today. Thanks for the review. I have been using an old used driving range mat i bought on etsy for 110 bucks. it WAS high quality, but worn and lumpy. Hurts the joints and bounces hard. My sky trak deserves better. Being American made makes this a no brainer. I buy everything i can made in the USA. Clothes, furniture, etc. This will be a great addition to the garage.
Too funny - I think I have the exact same mat (pre-Monster) and net. I paid around $75 for my 3x5 mat and while it’s been fine, I probably just don’t know what a good mat is supposed to feel like. I just added a SkyTrak to my setup and chose that over the Doppler units because I need to hit closer to the net to avoid sending balls over with anything less than a 7. I’ve only had the SkyTrak for a few days and it’s addicting! I’m now feeling the effects of the thin mat on concrete in my shoulders and elbows. Will need to take a look at the Monster. I loved how the rubber tee holder was flush with the mat surface. With my mat, that tee holder still sticks up too far. I bought some of those cone-shaped tees, but I’m not thrilled with them.
The biggest issue I have with hitting off mats is they are very damaging to your wrists and elbows. Through the winter I hit thousands of balls off mats and developed severe wrist pain and tennis elbow and my right arm.Would like to believe this mat is somehow different than those at the PGA superstore but have doubt.
Good review gents. I am in the midst of building a temporary indoor setup right now and have an old mat I got from a range. I have a smaller Country Club Elite mat that I put next to the range mat to hit off of. The Country Club Elite mat is a very nice mat and similar in construction to the Monster Mat, but it moves around over time - and that is using it outdoor in the driveway on concrete. I am sure it will move a lot more inside. I was really not in the market for a new mat since I just purchased a Foresight GC3, but came across this video so now I am thinking about it. Thanks for that guys 😆 Thought of one question. Would the mat be okay for putting? Using a GC3 which I think just measures the speed and club path at impact I would imagine it would be fine. Just wanted to ask. I am about 95% ready to order one.
Great review Gabe. I am in the process of getting all the pieces together for a simulator area. Looking at a lot of different mats and can say the price compared to the others I've looked at is very reasonable for the thickness and quality this mat seems to be. Will definitely be looking to get one when the area is ready. Love that it is made in America as well.
How’s the monster mat holding up after a year? Still highly recommend? I’ve been playing off a diy mat and looking to upgrade. Trying to decide between fiberbuilt, monster, or something like gungho’s hitting strip/mat.
Wondering how you are liking the monster mat after some time now (if you’re still using it). I have been using it for about 5 months now and for some reason I find it not very friendly…I’m finding it over penalizes poor strikes. For example, it grabs so much that even a slight fat shot gets terrible results. I thought maybe my swing just went to crap, but when I go to a grass range my results are much better. I finally got more confirmation when I went to get fitted for Mizuno irons the other day. I brought my gamers (T100s irons), and my fitter has a SkyTrak just like me. However, I was hitting fine on his mat, getting results more in line with what I see on the grass range and the course. Have you experienced any of that? Thanks and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
I love it. It does indeed penalize fat shots unlike other astro turfs out there which will skip the club and make bad shots look good, which is one of the reasons I really like it.
Nice video! Great feedback! Just got back into golf at age 39 and in the process of fixing my swing from inconsistent iron strikes, this mat looks like the best to go with from all the cheap and expensive ones I’ve looked at, this seems priced very reasonable. Will definitely be ordering to practice with when I can’t get to the range. Does the Garmin R10 track club path?
I was thinking of purchasing but when I applied the discount it only gave 2.5% discount not the 5% it claims. Just FYI for any of your followers that’s run into the same issue. Thanks for the review
Well - I went ahead and ordered this mat last week- arrived in 6 days- impressed - Very solid and feels great...don’t have my net yet - so I haven’t had a chance to hit full shots yet. I only have one issue- The 1 1/2 “ tees that come with it- they sit flush under - but they don’t hold a tee- not even close - I don’t understand- it looks like yours takes a tee and holds it solid. This was one of the reasons I chose this mat... any ideas guys ?
@@thefingerwitch Ok there should be one that looks similar but inside it actually has some additional ribbing inside. See if you have one, if not I'd def suggest contacting them.

Great review, I notice you mentioned any mat you can put a tee in is no good, i currently use a matt that can be tee'd into but find i sink into it a little to much and my feet dont feel planted, Fatting a lot of shots. is this due to the mat you think?

Great review! Looking to do an identical setup with my Mevo…what size net is that and how far are you guys set up from it so that the Mevo works? As for the tee, I keep one in my bag in case I go to a range with mats…the tall nipples suck. They are either the wrong size, or someone tried to cut them and they don’t hold a ball anymore! LOL
How different is this from CCE? I have a CCE which looks similar and it absolutely sucks on your joints. I’ve since moved to softstrike from hd golf which is great but a little too forgiving. But this monster mat really looks indentical to CCE.
It took a month to get my 3x5. Also, I didn't get the tees shown here. I got 3 of the same short rubber ones. Had to buy the one that holds a regular tee. Then I found I could poke a regular tee into the mat with a little effort. I'll be trying it out today for the first time.
I got a 5x5 with a rough section, wish i would have just got it without tho. The ball doesnt sit down in it like when your in the rough so it doesnt realy do anything. I just means i basicly have a 4×5. Great video tho.
This is probably what I have been looking for. I just got an outdoor net and I have been searching for a decent mat. Quality of this one looks really good. I like that you can actually feel fat shot on this mat and the tee's are a pretty nice add on. Great review on this Gabe!
