Nice build! I have for a while imagined the vengeance paladin as a support character for a Rogue cold merc with Mist/Treachery/Nightwings. I think she supplements the vengeance pally wonderfully with her AOE explosions.
The gear I managed to scrounge for my 1st Vengeance Paladin are: Oath Ethereal Conquest Sword (got max roll of 340% ED after wasting a lot of Hel Runes, Pul Runes and Mal Runes) Guardian Angel Templar Coat Exile Sacred Rondache Laying of Hands Gloves (although Dracul's might have been a better choice) Thudergod's Vigor War Belt War Traveller Boots Rockstopper Helm 1 Raven Frost and 1 Stone of Jordan Rings Crescent Moon Amulet For a Merc I use the Act 2 Nightmare Defensive Merc with an Insight Polearm I max Vengeance, Conviction, Resist Lightning and Resist Fire (since they are the easiest immunities to break). Also at least 1 Point in Holy Shield is a good idea.
As a melee fighter mana leech is your friend. There are many ways to help mana consumption though. Mana after each kill, mana regeneration, more mana(larger pool), and Damage taken goes to mana.
I think you will find a treachery or Hustle a better armor along with a kiras. This will give you cannot be frozen along with max ias and sweet resists.
because you run Conviction aura I decided to go with the Ice Act 3 merc. Because I can improve his damage greatly via the Conviction aura. The CC he provides is also very nice. The Holy Freeze Act 2 merc will provide CC but very little elemental damage.
Try it with Phoenix in an archon staff. No need for leech anymore with the redemption aura, more damage than berserker axe, high min damage and decent speed.
I haven't built him all the way up, but I have tried this, and it is tanky all the way through. Players 8 isn't even a problem. Barely an inconvenience. I got distracted by D4 and other stuff, but yeah. And you could go dual Dream if you wanted to combine it with an Auradin. There's a lot of potential. But yeah....the individual bonking is the drawback. But, to be fair, it's the only drawback.
Debating on starting ladder with thos character or possibly a fire bowazon...I want to use a build I've never played and I have about 35 characters on d2r
I started out with an fire amazon with a point in freezing arrow, switched to strafe when the immunes became too much in nightmare. Use decoy and freeze to hold them in place while I shoot (or burn) them. Merc isnt worth the revive costs anymore and valkyrie needs points to be viable.
@@kristopherleslie8343 idk I can name alot of builds they are stronger than. I've seen vids of low budget fire bows clearing cows on P8. Not alot of builds can clear cows on P8...like at all
I went max Holy Fire Aura (and Resist Fire for damage boost) with a few points into Zeal and then dumped points into Holy Shield. Should carry you to Act 4 or 5 in Nightmare depending on the gear you find/have. After that I highly recommend to respec into something more viable as you will suffer greatly with only fire as your main attack in Hell difficulty (I found Fist of the Heavens Paladin to be *very* powerful if you don't like to go hammers)
Funny I'm a holy fire pally.. ran players 8 all the way until act 4 nightmare.. its getting way to hard. .. gonna beat the game on players 1 and then respec for hell
17:47 But during my testing on pvp, the resistance panel showed a bit differently. May I have another resource for this Conviction vs Conviction testing please ?
Conviction won't be applied to a hostile target supplying higher level Conviction, although this does not prevent it from being applied to other targets. [1] It will always be applied to a hostile target supplying equal level Conviction. Moreover, after switching to another aura, Conviction will continue to be applied to the hostile target until it switches aura (which isn't possible for a monster). [2] Despite what the character screen displays, higher level Conviction will only prevent a hostile lower level being applied if higher level is active before it is applied, and equal level never prevents hostile Conviction being applied. [3] Resist -% is reduced to 1/5 (rounded down) against immune monsters, even if Resist < 100% after casting Lower Resist. However, Conviction is still 100% effective against a hostile player's immune pets. Chance to hit displayed by the character screen does not take into account reduced defense of monsters. www.theamazonbasin.com/wiki/index.php/Conviction www.theamazonbasin.com/forums/index.php?/forums/topic/120415-higher-conviction-overwriting-lower-conviction/#comment-1491149 Hopefully this helps, there is more than this though. Llama tested the two convictions of the same level thing on his channel.
They are Kind of In Opposition to each other. Veng is a physical skills masquerading as a elemental skill. Dreams are Elemental Your Vengeance will loose damage output from adding dreams in, and it's a poor skill to take advantage of the speed needed to use dreams properly. The Aoe Pulse on dreams is ok damage in like P1 but does basically nothing in P8 and such. I won't say that it wouldn't work, but I think you'd be better off with a Zeal Setup with dreams than vengeance.
I don't generally use enigma on any of my characters. I enjoy walking and experiencing the game. I also generally find walk magic finding to be superior to tele magic finding.
I really don't wanna be that guy, but what is the hype about this build in d2r? Seen tons of videos about it. I don't get it, what is the difference between d2r and d2 that makes this build special? I mean it is a 20y old build and it kinda sucks in d2. Why is it this hyped in d2r? Note, I estimate my play time in d2 to be approx 7k hours so you can assume I know everything in d2. However I know zero about d2r. Thanks for answers
D2R has fixed a lot of issues and bugs that existed in D2 LoD Combined with new runewords, and other things D2R has really come to life. If you haven't played D2R I would highly recommend it. As for this build specifically, nothing new really.
I'm always ready to hear someone talk about the Vengeance paladin. My overall favorite build.

Nice build and gear selection. Didn’t think to try exile on this character…
I can feel the hurt of the berserker axe roll bleeding through my screen…
He sounded like he had tasted the bitter medicine of RNG roll screwing ur ED roll 😂
What is a steady way to sustain mana? Will a manald help much?
As a melee fighter mana leech is your friend.

Have you tested Act 5 merc with voices of reason sword? I'm planning to build a conviction pally with this merc.
Mentor! If you have to choose which build would be your ultimate one you love the most to play? Thanks!
I love the vengeance, i use the runeword famine legendary mallet, more element, i thought it was cool, but then it has ignore target def.
Quick question. Is Holy Freeze Act 2 merc or Act 3 cold for crowd control on this build?

I recognized the Pitch Meeting quote. Quotient Pitch Meeting is tight! 😁

What if you use an act2 merc with infinity and use fanaticism for yourself instead of conviction? To further increase your attack speed?
Yeah that could work, as long as the Merc stays alive
How exactly does life steal and mana leech work with vengeance? Does it only count the physical damage portion when calculating how much u get back?
yes
is it worth running Act 2 blessed aim merc for more AR with this? is there a perk of the Act 3 merc?
As I explained in the video enchant gives 450% AR
Blessed aim only gives 110% AR
By comparison Blessed aim would be a serious downgrade in total AR

Would be cool if they would make vengence hit like 2 or times a bit like zeal, I think the single target scares a lot of people away.

no Deadly strike doesn't work with Vengeance, but it does help the physical damage portion
