- Ship Customisation was FINALLY added into No Mans Sky as part of the Orbital update which also saw an Overhaul to Space Stations in the game.
Ship customisation had been the most requested feature from No Mans Sky players so it's about time Hello Games added it in!
In this video I'll go over absolutely everything you need to know when it comes to the brand new shop customisation feature!

I still want solar & sentinel customization. Along with the black color scheme to be available. Then it will be perfect!
You can find black ships. I have an all black fighter . Just took me a whiiiile to find it

It makes sense with this new system, HG could add new ship part models that could further customization even more
They should call it ship building and not customization.

@@Lucifer-sn9ir Again building, not customisation. I shouldn't have to search for and scrap a ship three times just to change the colour. Most players (myself included) have found their favourite ships already and might just want to change the colours.
Dude, I wanna customize my current ship, sucks I gotta make a new one from zero
I spent the first two hours of the update going from station to station looking for the ships I needed to scrap in order to get the parts. Would you believe it though that at the final station where I got the last ship I needed the exact same ship landed right next to me as I was heading to the salvage area! Where the heck had it been for the last 120 hours? The other irony is that since the update I've started noticing more exotics turning up at locations I've already visited that were never before. I got this smart looking one from a YT page find around 50 hours ago and then I went to my home base where I started the whole game and a practically identical exotic suddenly turned up and since then I've seen 3 variations of it since!
I've noticed the exotics spawning a lot more often as well, I think I saw them at 3 stations in a row which was previously unheard of
@@BunkzGamingThe biggest irony is that since the exotics started appearing more often one turned up that looks so amazing I've started using it more than the custom ship I finally built!

I think solars could be cool, as a pirate station exclusive, also is it right new parts were added for the update for the 3 customisable ships
Yeah that's a good idea for solar ships. Not too sure, where have you heard that?
Black paintjob was also shown in the trailer along with Shuttle customization. Hope they are just bugged and will get implemented.

Weirdly enough my turbine wings on my custom hauler are black I made my ship all white but the wings came out black

gonna wait for them to add Sentinel customization, those ships have A LOT of parts, and hopefully they can make it work with how the ship seeds work
I havent played the new update yet just loaded up for the first time in months and decided to youtube a little before getting going. I love the idea of ship building and what not but I have some really sweet ships that I wish I could paint and maybe swap parts out on instead of building completely from scratch
Please share the glyphs and coordinates for that awesome crashed ship @1:13 ! Man, that's a perfect hotrod as is, haha. I'd love to add it to my fleet.
And thank you for the info on customization. HG didn't really give us a lot of direction on the release of this huge feature.
Sadly I don't have them saved, though if you go on Reddit on r/NMSCoordinateExchange and search for crashed fighter I'm sure you'll find one similar 😊
If your rep is good, you get 50% of so S class are 6K. Which are darn cheap. If you scrap (buy C class ships) for about 12 million and 6K nanites you have the ship you want. It's actually to easy. I ship hunt n outlaw systems. 85% chance of a C class which is the cheats you can buy.
It should also be noted that the timing of when you assemble the ship will change the levels of damage, shield strength, range, and maneuverability. You should notice that once all parts are in place the stats will continue to fluctuate until assemble is clicked. Additionally, what parts you choose will also affect the base of said stats.
I love the new feature but to me it doesn't feel finished yet. We can't build Sentinel or sail ships and half the haulers can't be dismantled for parts -.-

I like it due to the fact that I can get the killers that I like instead of the ones I don't and I'm not stuck with a colour that I don't like. I also light the fat that I can make an s class instead of having to hunt for one as trying to get the perfect S-Class can sometimes be a bit of hard work. It's just a shame that you can't build every ship in the game. I would like that change
What staff handle are you using? As I was waiting for the Xbox update, (finally over) I was trying to make a cool looking staff. I couldn’t find a handle that I liked, though, because I got mostly the same options
It was a reward for the Omega expedition which has now ended so you'd have to wait for it to be replayable to get it
I just wanna keep my first ship, so customizing a ship I already have is neat

majorly sucks that solars can't be customized, that's my favorite ship type and I love the one I have but the colors could be improved, but that's not even possible.
I think they've left them out because they all look similar (with the exception of the sails)
@@BunkzGaming they look similar but they definitely have differences in the parts. Regardless it'd be worth it even if just for the sails and colors. I use a solar because they're the best looking ships IMO, and it'd be awesome to build my own custom one
I’ve scrapped a fighter with gull wings but the wings don’t appear in my inventory, is this the same for other peeps? (ps5)
YES! It absolutely is and I'm glad I'm not the only one. If you scroll thru the fabricator, you'll notice there is only one gull wing variation. But you'll notice that the vast majority of other wing types have several variations. There are some missing variations. So if you happen to salvage a ships wings with a different type other that what's listed in the fabricator, you get diddly squat. I've tested it several times with both one with a dorsal fin and one without. Both gull wing ships I encountered had the 'Serenity' wing base(secondary engines?) instead of what I'm assuming is the 'Starscream' wing base, the only variation the game currently allows you to salvage. BTW, I'm on Steam, so this across all platforms.
I hope they add The Sentinel ships to the customization list
I think they could have done things a little differently, and increased player options and racial choices for who you interact with. And it wouldn't have been hard. First off, pirate stations you only get to customize solars. Easy peasy, pirate stations are half-broken anyway, and they could only get that working on them. Also, ONLY place you can do solars. So, there's a solid reason to have pirate standing if you want a tricked-out solar. Next, the three races have two general ships, and one ship that only they do. Vy'Keen is fighters, Gek are haulers, and Korvax are Explorers. The shuttle and the exotic are on all stations. Wait, I hear you say, exotics? Yes, exotics. They can only take S class reactors, and finding parts for them requires you buy other exotics, and break them down. You can't salvage them off planets anymore. It's a rich man's game to build an exotic. Make sense? Oh, and Sentinals and Living ships stay the same.

Yeah that's annoying. I also don't like the fact you can't at least change the colour of any existing ships pre update
It didn't ruin ship hunting because it's mostly a useless feature. The best ships in the game can't be "customized". And I say that in quotes because as far as I can tell, you can't actually customize any ship, only build them from scratch. They also don't have all the options that found ships do, like alloy paints.
Half assed feature. Thanks for the free update, I guess, don't think I'll be using this feature though.

Yeh can't repaint only once when you make a brand new ship this was a major downside to the so called ship customization update stupid as fuk
They could have made it more interesting/difficult by needing to destroy the ship in combat then have a chance of gaining a ship crafting blueprint (instead of a single use part)
Could be added as a future update perhaps?
@@BunkzGaming Hopefully! I'm hoping, now they have ship customization, for them to finally add new parts for the existing ships. Maybe these could be unique to each race/faction and achieved by gaining max standing. Also (and I think this is much more likely); unique colours/materials/parts from future expeditions :)
I found a crashed ship but i cant break it down into parts i dont understand
What type of ship was it? Not all can be broken down
@@BunkzGaming i think found my problem it seems customization is only available for fighter, haulers, and explorers. not shuttles. Just wanted to try out taking apart a ship for customization parts, its understandable if special ships like solar, exotic, alien, and sentinel ships could be broken down but i guess shuttle ships are too useless to collect ship parts for.
I hope they include multi-player freighter battles and customizable freighter / frigates

How can you build a truly unique ship ? , when your limited to using only the parts for that specific ship already available in the parts pool already available in game ? in other words , what can I build that can't already be found over on the Red**t exchange ? , except for the ability to add colors , and adding unique parts at a later date , don't really see what all the hype is about ,
Because the combination of ship parts you can put together could possibly have never been together on the other ships you can find in the past
When you look at the amount of wing parts alone it's quite possible to make a unique ship or at least one that you really like just think of the amount of ships you find that you only like a certain part of it or the color? Now just scap the part you want and soon enough you can make a whole fleet of ships YOU want

I think, someone said there are 80 fighter parts. So about 25 different looking fighters. Of course, some combs are already in the game.
@@spike238 I mean I understand why people would feel a certain way about only being able to build 3 ships right now but I still think it's a great addition but people are kinda confusing ship customization for what it really is which is ship building I'm sure they'll add more to it like it said in the trailer. I wouldn't freak out about it yet.

What you should know that this is a joke, ok yes they added it but really its the worst customization ever in any game EVER, it will not bring anyone back to play... The BS you have to go through to make a ship, just have a vendor selling the parts Jesus Christ. And why not Black for color options.... Oh wait there is more... you cant change the color of your current ship or change anything about it... Why its not like this is an online game.... Really this update might be the biggest joke ever... Not to mention its been a week and Hello Games and Worthless Sean Murry have been silent on X Facebook, forums etc.... SO many Xbox players and still no update for them and they have thousands of post... ok its not ready games are cool and understand BUT WHEN YOU DONT COMMUNICATE you make your company look bad and lose loyal people... Man you seem like the only one who's super upset like this blame x box for having shity update support. PlayStation is the superior console. And if you hate the update so much just play a different game what does cussing the devs out online do but make you look like a selfish player they probably put a lot in this update and will probably add a lot more to this feature which will have you and all who are crying about this update who aren't very many people looking dumb
Neat feature for lazy people or previously impossible combinations of parts if they allow that but it makes ship hunting obsolete. I spent a long time finding the exact ships I wanted, in the right colors, then waiting for the S class versions to show up. Unless they increased the number of owned starships I won't try this feature out. I have 9 awesome fully upgraded S class starships already.
Ship hunting isn't obsolete because you still have to hunt out the ships you want parts from then you can make unique ships using a variety of parts.
