Back a number of years ago, in 2014 maybe, I bought a 2000 Corolla for $1200 certified from my mechanic who I trusted with my life. This made me wonder what he was up to. I asked him if I was getting a vehicle that was junk. "Nope", was his reply. "You see, this is a standard and NO one knows how to drive a standard so this courtesy car just sits here". I would dump the clutch at 5,000 and get 50 feet of rubber (there's a video floating around somewhere if you'd like to see it) and even get a chirp out of the tires into second. It was a riot!!! I lived in the hills around Sault Ste. Marie and if I drove it like a hybrid (where I shut the engine down once I'd engaged the clutch), I got over 50 MPG. We had a Corolla from 2002 until 2014 and had to replace the front bumper 3 times and since we gave it to our in laws it cracked again. It's so cheap that (even the aftermarket clone bumpers) when it's really cold the bumpers actually crack at the slightest pressure. If you hit one of those winter ice blocks that fall from the back of some cars and trucks it shatters in to pieces. I'm happy there's an other throttle house channel... But I'll admit here I was fooled, I wanted an intro sketch. Sometimes I don't care about the car just want the good fun. Like the last BMW intros made me laugh so hard.
Nice to know that Toyota is offering a "Ricer Edition" straight from the factory!
Keep it easy James! Stop being snobbish on this channel. Thomas is the professional driver, you’re the magic carpet rider! So stop being a princess. Every time Thomas compliments the car, you just nag... Toyota has more clout and a bigger fan base than all the other car companies. Also 43 million cars sold. Civic only 16 million. So again. Don’t talk about the car that actually the most popular. Most purchased. Also reliability. Toyota people are loyal.
Corolla Apex: Legends, never die
Don’t worry, I’m leaving
Ya u do dat
"You kill them, you're better. They kill you, they're better."
I love my Corolla hatch. I would not go with the Apex package for sure.. Just a regular XSE or SE Up. It's a perfect commuter car which I know I can trust.
I’m secretly hoping that this is their “CSL” before the GR Corolla comes out ;)
Last 5 seconds of the video alone deserve a like lol
As the owner of an old Corolla XRS..... I could see the appeal of the Apex, but then again the engine is very special in that older XRS. So this Apex seems like a good idea, bad execution. Mind you that no rev hang is nice
If they threw a Camry engine in this, this would be a fantastic successor to the E140 XRS.
Great review as usual. Where did you get the sweater?? 👀
This is the fastest granny driving grocery getter in history! Nanna will be hitting those apex's around the local Costco curbing coming to a Florida parking lot near you this summer...
Love the ending :)
You say you don't have a trademarked ending, and yet, you seem to have just created one. I could watch you guys review a toaster oven and be entertained.
The bumper looks super agressive now as the cracks make it look like teeth from a hungry shark! Has Toyota improved the design and strength of the newer front bumpers?
