$29,000 plus for a Corolla with a CVT - Did anyone take notice how “QUIET” he was while driving this car?
And $26,000 for a manual transmission... It's not alot... You can get a base model for 20k dependent on where you're located if your wallet is starting to bottom out... 😄
I’m surprised this costs so much. $25k will get you into a Civic SI or Forte GT which are better, faster cars in every way. This is nice for a Corolla, but completely priced out of the segment. WTF Toyota.
@@marcusmcneal7453 depends which trim. I got the LE for $22K and the apex is up there close to.price.of basic camry. Also remember inflation. Here in canada 22k is quite cheap.with LE especially with features you getting
@@cocmaster4474 even the base L model offers more features than what most competitors in base models offer. Personally I got LE model for 22k, the 2020 model. Most of the time it comes down to your credit score and that's what determines how much you could get.
@Gabe Hernandez only until you get it and see it for yourself in person before you really appreciate what they offering compared to competition. If you want speed and power then 2.0 litre sports edition and upwards and even then it's not too pricey.
This is a nice middle ground between the regular and GR Corolla coming up. Very nice! Thanks for the awesome review.
I appreciate you letting em share it with you!
That Corolla would be a good little fun daily driver, but would be even more fun if the put the Supra 2.0 i4 in it.
Now we are talking!
Once he said 169hp I closed the video... OMG!!!🤯😂
Those are 90s numbers. 😂 😂
He said performance car.... this has less horsepower than my 09 s Corolla dont really see anything huge on it
@Rico William ppl are gonna buy it since its a nicer looking normal corolla. They want to get from point a to point b with good gas mileage while having a fun new car. I doubt anyone buying this will be taking it to the track or dragstrip anyway
Sponsorshit.
Er Sponsorship. Sorry about that.
@Rico William and yet back in the day the normal person muscle cars only had 150-230hp. And that was plenty enough. I bought the corolla for reliability, and did a few things to make it little more fun. If you want fast and something to go to drag with, buy a STI.
I was click bated lol, don’t even consider my car a performance car and call this a “performance” car. And wtf are those apex shoes.
@@aireworkz929 lol, yeah Toyota's idea of performance are bodykits...
This car smell serious work by Toyota company and i like that agressive face.
I am so glad that you like this one.
A body kit is serious work?
It looks like those grandmothers, who is trying to look younger and cooler with their grandchildren, but only make fun of themselves.
Only one man in this solar system could make me want to watch a review on a Corolla.
And his name is: JOE RAITI!!!
Thanks Philip! zYou are awesome! Just wait for Part 2 because things get even better!
@@RaitisRides Yes, sir! Looking forward to it! 😎🙂
I was gonna rag on it because of the power but I keep forgivig it because of the good look and serious handling. Looks like a real blast to daily drive and not get speeding tickets.
That is a good way to look at it.
This is a beautiful Toyota, they've come a long way with their styling. I wish they'd refresh the corolla hatch with a turbo
I just bought a brand new 2021 Toyota Corolla for my job! My Chevy 07 SS hhr will eat this Apex for lunch! It’s 260 factory hp!
1 year later I just traded my 2021 Corolla LE for a new gray 2022 Apex, they gave me 21k with 46,000 miles on it, I gave them 4700 cash and my 2021 LE and my Apex is payed off! I’m a delivery driver, I payed 20823 for my LE , they gave me more than I payed for it and made 70k with it !
Did I just hear him chirp second?! In a Corolla?! Legend status achieved!
Thanks Mark! You are really awesome!
They should of installed some aluminum pedals. Especially since it’s a 6 speed manual.
Those look nice until your feet start slipping off the pedal when you have wet shoes.
All blacked out and a manual again! Now that's more like it!
I knew you would approve!
@@RaitisRides Yeet!
I’m a Toyota fan and buyer. Currently have a Lexus IS.
So I say this with respect, but honesty - No version of the corolla is a performance sedan for anyone wondering.
I'm South African, and i must tell you, the Toyota Corolla Apex is amazing, especially in manual transmission. I'd drive it all day, every day. Love it
The new corolla's look pretty good, especially the hatch version
I am so glad that you like this one.
YES, THE HATCH!!
11:51 I can’t say that without laughing, 😂😂😂😂😂
I am glad that I can bring some laughs to you Kenny!
I could sell one today, if it had a conventional automatic. Apex is a cool shout back in time to the AE86 Corolla-one of the JDM models of that was called a Trueno Apex. Sure would like to see a Camry set up like this. Thanks for the video. Cheers.
Thanks for letting me share it with you! Great point!
*cough* Isn't the TRD Camry set up similar to this Apex Corolla? With the V6 in the entry level SE Sport trim?
@Johnson Jacob _COUGH_ (Manual Transmission) TRD is a tuner division, and they charge for TRD products (in their minds) accordingly. I like the TRD Camry and Avalon, but they look like regular cars with a bunch of stuff attached. The Apex is understated, and that’s why I like it.
@@2W3X4YZ5 the Camry does have similar modifications in addition to the body kit and wheels. Brakes shocks, coil springs, structural braces added. The rear seat does not fold down because of that. Joe has a video for both the Camry and Avalon TRD. They just don't do much engine mods for reliability, and having to address durability issues with turbos and what not if people abuse them and make warranty claims. They have aftermarket fir that, but if you have problems, you're one your own, just like lifting the trucks beyond factory specs or altering suspension geometry and something breaks.
This black colour with the bronze design looks stunning ♥️♥️😍😍
The bronze trim is a really nice touch! I think it would've been even cooler if the wheels were the same bronze color
Ok, does Toyota actually needs to make a performance vehicle themselves without partnering up with Subaru and bmw and slapping TRD badges on their vehicles, am I right?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one.
Nah, there is Civic and Mazda 3 for that. Corolla is for new drivers and old people - they don't need that.
Another great review and way to score the manual Joe! $26,000 with rev matching. That is actually a really good value. That's what I'm talking about! Again, well done sir. Well done.
Thank you so much for your great support! I really appreciate it!
It's cool Toyota made this, it is pretty rare nowadays to have an N/A hot compact, and with a manual to boot. Shame it doesn't rev higher like the old XRS.
So true!
How is this a "hot compact"?!
2016 Civic had more horse power, for smaller price.
Toyota did almost everything right. Their problem was the lack of options at that price. I was very interested in this car till i heard the MSRP of $26+. It has less power, less options and cost more than the civic si. Youre basically buying a base model toyota with an exhaust, wheels and slight suspension work for a mark up
Very good perspective.
This one kind of snuck up on me. I had no idea this trim level existed. It actually looks really good. Can't wait for that GR Corolla.
I am so glad that I can bring it to you Wayne! Same here brother!
Sounds better than the Civic Type R
AGREED!
I’m more excited about this Corolla then the “Supra” lols
I hate to say it, but same.
thebigcheese3000 lols
this corolla would had been better if it had the BMW B46 engine with a 6 speed, that engine really tunable.
@@h.a.4600 Well, if you want head gasket issues then yeah, put a BMW engine in it.
@@JecuskyGarrett actually, the B46 have timing chain issues because its on a heavy BMW body, but since Toyota where aware of the B58 issues before putting it on the Supra, to get the B46 meet the reliability standards it might granade 6 engines , and also modify the ports in order to have 4 instead of 2, its not much that Toyota has to do in order to increase the endurace of the engine to make this Corolla fall into the category of the SRT4, only more reliable and easier to work to get 300 horspower by ecu tune alone, and also is the same engine the has model 2.0 Supra has.
Yo. Love the apex shoes touch
Thanks man!
I bought this 6 months ago new for $24,231 USD
For reference, purchased 6/10/21, MSRP $27,037 USD
Discount from dealer $1,307
$1,000 cash back rebate
$500 Military rebate
Total $24,231 + TTL
Purchased in Chicago area, during the whole chip shortage fiasco.
I am using as a daily driver and looking to hand down to my kids when they turn 16 in 8 to 10 years. The reason why I purchased it was because of gas mileage, smaller engine = cheaper to insure, especially when handed down to the kids. Also, my first car was a hand-me-down corolla, so wanted to keep the tradition alive.
Ride is expected, but I grew up modding cars and had a lowered celica, and this felt about the same. If you have never been in a lowered, stiffened affordable family SEDAN that is not bred for performance like a Porsche/Ferrari, then you will probably hate the ride.
That is so awesome Congrats!
Joe, thanks for always giving us info like the corollas been around since 66. You are the best car reviewer in the world.
False statement, unless you know every reviewer in the world.
@@ShadKS18XL Thats MY opinion, you can have your own.
Pretty neat car. I can see this being a total sleeper once some mods are done to it lol!
I got one and I’m working my way up on adding some mods to it
Why would I get this if a Kia Forte gt exists 😂
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one.
Reliability but yeah I get what you're saying.
Because it’s a fucking Kia?

And That's what makes his reviews extravagant 👌🏼
Alright guys back in the tail end of the lunch table
You didn’t have to flex on us like that with the apex pumas 🥵🥵
LMAO! You are awesome! Thanks for letting me share the fun with you!
What’s all the cvt talk when this is available with a 6 speed manual, learn to drive a car people
I like the way that you think!
lol for real
I feel the same way about DCT Transmissions in sports cars now.
I do a agree but when you get old and your back starts to go out having a manual transmission isn't as great as it used to be. I still prefer manual but sometimes with back pain I just cant drive stick.
Sharp looking car and the fact that Toyota is still offering a stick option is pretty rad. I would like to see a full-on TRD version of this thing. 250HP with 250elbows of torque and this thing would sell like crazy. The jury is out on the bronze accents IMO but at least they are not over the top. I really like the proportions and look of the new Corolla. Nice work Joe !!
I totally agree with you! Thanks for letting me share it with you!
The size of a dinner bell 🔔..🤣🤣🤣 besides the vehicles, the side cracks keeps me coming back ..👍🏾
Thanks man!
Looks nice but underpowered. My money would be on the upcoming Elantra N-Line.
That one is not really underpower. It’s still enough power to take u anywhere
For 29 grand there’s quite a few cars you can buy that are a lot nicer looking and a bit faster so I don’t know what Toyota is doing here..
I totally agree with you Jay!
It's not 29 grand dumbass it's 26 grand why u making expensive
