      1.6t at 200HP and 190lbs of torque, two transmission options: 6 speed manual and 7 or 8 speed auto (pretty much veloster turbo specs)
      2.0 naturally aspirated 180hp and 170lbs of torque, and also two transmission options: manual and 7 or 8 speed auto.

      ClodFillet you won’t get those torque numbers for a naturally aspirated 2.0 just not enough displacement. I’ve wondered this with Mazda and even Toyota. The 2.0l in the miata has a 7600rpm redline and makes 181 hp and 156fpt. I think something around that spec would be perfect similar to what made the old civics so much fun you have that whole rev limiter to play with and still when you look at fuel mileage it’s incredible. Honda lost me as a customer when they put the 1.5t in the new si 🤮

    I like that it's a naturally aspirated engine which means the reliability factor is there. For the most part for the money that we're spending here, I would think that Toyota could offer us at least 200 hp and still keep it naturally aspirated. I'm really impressed with the mpg of this design if it really gets that. Some of us working folks have long commutes every day going back and forth to work and how cool to have a little bit of everything in one car. Some folks forget that by having big power in a small car like this, you sacrifice fuel efficiency and reliability which defeats its purpose. Great review...!!! 🙂

An economical Corolla, fine, but they should also offer a real "performer" trim, even naturally aspirated. If only that one had at least 200-210. Pluses with the manual, legroom and headroom, storage room, and some. But only 169 like the rest of the Corolla lineup? Nice wheels and its cool that it comes with summer performance tires. Definitely cool that they offer the rev-matching manual, which is something they don't offer on the SE Nightshade edition. Funny thing though is how much heavier small cars have gotten, as its over 3K lbs, when back in the day you could get a 2000 Ford Focus at 2.5K lbs, or the SVT at 2.75K lbs which is if anything a tiny bit bigger I think, but they didn't have ten airbags like this does which is way safer.

      @@BoopSnoot We have to wait a week for his uncensored driving comments. I don't think it would be that harsher of a fide, similar to a TRD Camry compared to the SE/XSE Camry. With the Apex, you get the suspension upgrades and a nice cat back exhaust factory. There are after market suspension mods available, including the RSR lowered coil springs, or their almost $2K spring and coilover kit which looks great, and is fine tunable. I would go with the Bilstein Pro-Kit with the moderate lowered Eibach coil springs. More set it and forget it, such I am not a racer/tuner.

    • @johnsonjacob3525
      @johnsonjacob3525 4 года назад

      Agreed. Power would be fine for me, but I would get the TRD air filter element and maybe exhaust similar to this Apex if I got an SE/XSE. I sm not sure how much more power other than a cold air intake and exhaust, or recalibrated tuning you can get, and if someone will come out with a turbo or supercharger kit, other than a potential TRD or GR version. But I bet if anything, you would have to look for upcoming aftermarket to do that.
      I doubt Toyota would do that for reliability and liability fir their regular production SE/XSE and Apex models.
      The interior is actually light grey, not white, but there is an available black and darker grey available, but not sure if you have a choice for the Apex.

The rear seat does not fold down because of that. Joe has a video for both the Camry and Avalon TRD. They just don't do much engine mods for reliability, and having to address durability issues with turbos and what not if people abuse them and make warranty claims. They have aftermarket fir that, but if you have problems, you're one your own, just like lifting the trucks beyond factory specs or altering suspension geometry and something breaks.

    Purchased in Chicago area, during the whole chip shortage fiasco.
    I am using as a daily driver and looking to hand down to my kids when they turn 16 in 8 to 10 years. The reason why I purchased it was because of gas mileage, smaller engine = cheaper to insure, especially when handed down to the kids. Also, my first car was a hand-me-down corolla, so wanted to keep the tradition alive.
    Ride is expected, but I grew up modding cars and had a lowered celica, and this felt about the same. If you have never been in a lowered, stiffened affordable family SEDAN that is not bred for performance like a Porsche/Ferrari, then you will probably hate the ride.

    The 2020 forte GT is such a better deal. It’s a more quality interior. Same price, and it has a turbo

    The black and gold/bronze on the car is a really nice subtle throwback to the ae86 corolla black limited

    The new Corolla still has the same sinking brake pedal problem, which becomes a safety issue. The dealership recommended new brake pads and adjustment as a fix. But the problem came back after a couple of miles.

    This and the Camry TRD are my actual dream new cars (okay, DREAM car is Audi RS6 Avant) but realistically Toyota is killing it.
