I’ve been a collector my entire life, and I can say from experience that you will definitely accumulate a large amount over time but you just have to stay at it. I would also recommend to anyone wanting to start collecting to invest in the vintage items and condition and completeness is very important. Comics, cards, toys, etc. were originally marketed to children who as we all know actually played with stuff, outgrew it, threw it away, etc. so there is a finite amount of it available and will always hold its value.
Slabbing is for suckers. Edit: to be clear, I am all for slabbing books to sell them to suckers, just not paying the premium and collecting them, it's really not that difficult to learn how to grade comics yourself.

Great video! A couple of observations: A) I used to think the same way, that such a collection would never be attainable. But a few decades go by, and while my collection isn't as good as what you show here, it's a good distance along the road to being like this collection. It just takes time and patience. B) You said, "I don't even know what some of this is" a few times. You should pick up one or two of the many comic history books out there and learn about these books. It's a great story and you will likely find a few new avenues of interest to build your own collection. You would be surprised how affordable some of these 40's and 50's books still are. C) Finally, the journey is often more enjoyable than the goal. Remember this and enjoy the ride. Good luck!
I grew up working in a comic book shop and my boss, the owner, was aware of the trend toward speculative investment-based comic collecting. He said many times, buy books you like, whether it’s for the art or the writing, the characters, but don’t get hung up with anything else. Buying comics for investment to resell them is a gamble and you might win but you can also lose big-time. Hey, I took his advice and it has served me well.
