To everyone who thinks that Counting Crows begins and ends with 'Mr Jones", please put this on your sound system and turn it the f**k up. 20 years later and this still blows the roof off.
I don’t normally wax nostalgic on the internet for strangers, but everyone ever has songs that they hear that gives them goosebumps immediately, no matter how frequently or under what conditions they hear it. This is one for me.
The director of this (Josh Taft) has a knack for directing some excellent live performance videos--he also did Pearl Jam's Alive and Even Flow and Live's White, Discussion. Talented guy!
I love Metal music today because of this song. I remember listening to it when i was 12 and it was my starting point to go to heavier things that i could never imagine that were so great! It all starts here...
i remember when this music video debuted on MTV i was both shocked & in awe at the same time (August and Everything After is one of the best debuts of the 90’s) Recovering The Satellites is damn near in the league of the freshman album.... The 1990’s as a whole was as impressive as the 1980’s having such a massive amount of music acts/artist trying to make a name for themselves! I’d go as far as saying both Counting Crows & Gin Blossoms are two of the most important bands of the 90’s they are the soundtracks of my generation! 🤘👍🤘
Aw, dude! I just thought of Gin Blossom while was reading your comment! Great band also! I can’t understand why this two incredible bands not recognised as they need
Well I guess you left me with some feathers in my hand, Did it make it any easier to leave me where I stand? I guess there might not be too many, Who would stand beside you now, Where'd you come from? Where am I going? Why'd you leave me 'til I'm only good for. Waiting for you, all my sins, I said that I would pay for them, If I could come back to you, All my innocence is wasted on, The dead and dreaming. Every night these silhouettes appear above my head, Little angels of the silences that climb into my bed and whisper, Every time I fall asleep, every time I dream, Did you come? Would you lie? Why'd you leave us 'til we're only good for. Waiting for you, all my sins, I said that I would pay for them, If I could come back to you, All my innocence is wasted on, The dead and dreaming. I dream of Michelangelo when I'm lying in my bed, Little angels hang above my head and read me like an open book, And suck my blood, break my nerve, offer me their arms, Well I will not be an enemy of anything, I'll only stand here. Waiting for you, all my sins, I said that I would pay for them, If I could come back to you, All my innocence is wasted on, The dead and dreaming. I'm gone, I'm gone, I believe today I'm gone I'm gone, I'm gone, take me away, I'm gone I'm gone, I'm gone, gotta leave today I'm gone, I'm gone, I'm gone, I'm gone, I'm gone I'm gone
Damn didn't know how good we had it......I remember driving out to a lake, smoking a J with friends and disappearing into an endless summer with rockin jams like this.....and being young, 20s!
This song will always take me back to the year I had my heart broken and put the experience behind me by moving 2000 miles from the suburbs of Chicago to Oregon. Best thing I ever did.
Just love American music ......and it just doesn't get any better than this baby !!!!!.....superb song great group !!......God bless b kind to each other ❤ love animals ❤ and yourself ❤ 😇😊🥰
CC showing they can Rock It Up with the best of them! So rare to find a band with such a prolific back catalogue that doesn't have a single 'bad' song amongst it, is able to transcend styles & genres with apparent ease & can pull it all off live!
+Joseph m It's underrated when the local college and indie rock stations only played their songs "Mr. Jones" and "Hanging Around" all the time in the 90's. It's an insult to Counting Crows for radio stations to neglect playing any songs from "Recovering the Satellites" just because it was heavier than their radio friendly hoopla.
Probably the best music video. Each shot, one by one combine perfect picture. Don't mention the music which is far beyond being perfect tune.!!! Thanks
A little random I know but I don't know who was responsible for the micing, EQ, and just overall production of the percussion of this album, but to me it is still the gold standard of the sound I try to master.
This entire album is an absolute masterpiece.
Agree. It was my life when I was in GE when I was in the Army.
Their discography is solid. Always headliners
So true
To everyone who thinks that Counting Crows begins and ends with 'Mr Jones", please put this on your sound system and turn it the f**k up. 20 years later and this still blows the roof off.
Both this album and August and Everything After are awesome
Jennifer Stauff lo puedes traducir a español ?

Damn right
This is by far the most rockin' Counting Crows song.
Or Have you seen me lately
It’s such a good song. And the slowed down version was amazing on Across a Wire.
Agreed...
Also listen to the song 1492 and Einstein on the beach
“Hanging Tree” kicks a lot of Ass too!
I miss the 90's so much...even early 2000's would be much better than recent years. What an amazing album.
I don’t normally wax nostalgic on the internet for strangers, but everyone ever has songs that they hear that gives them goosebumps immediately, no matter how frequently or under what conditions they hear it. This is one for me.
Best Counting Crows Song That Never Gets Played
I love the urgency in this song, such a great tune. Makes me miss the 90's
The 80s were great. The 90s weren't bad. I'd love to have them both back.
It's 2020 and I'm still trying to get 1996 back
Me too, but its gone
.....aren’t we all! The 90’s were a fantastic musical decade, I find myself traveling there frequently. Cheers!
It's 2021..the same here bud
I feel this deep. Such a simpler time.
@@bneyens never!!
An under appreciated gem from a band at the height of their powers.
Dear world. Please notice there's more beyond Mr. Jones.
Miss the 90's so much.
Thank you.
Ikr... and I was born in 2001
Claudio Prevedello Bento I was born in 2002 I'm 13 and like this stuff current music sucks
Mr Jones isn't even their best song.
Best decade in history
Bem colocado, Claudio!
I remember when this song came out in 1996, absolute gem.
Love this song. The hardest I've heard them rock. I wish it had gotten more recognition.
Yes! This is one of their best ever I wish it was more popular
Still listening in 2023 , awesome album !!!
Their first 2 albums are flawless
Damn, this is still such a fantastic song.
Really wish Counting Crows would've written more up-tempo, thrashy songs like this. Probably their best song
This proves that Counting Crows CAN rock out....
Favorite Counting Crows song and one of my favorite songs ever!!!!!
Same here. Although that August and Everthing After CD grows on you after time.
Paul Stevens amazing.
Me too
Got to be one of the best live performances I've seen!
Hopefully live music will return some day. I hope I haven’t missed my chance to see CC in concert
They are amazing live. I saw them in concert when they came to NJ. They sound just like they are in the studio.
The director of this (Josh Taft) has a knack for directing some excellent live performance videos--he also did Pearl Jam's Alive and Even Flow and Live's White, Discussion. Talented guy!
This song is lightning in a bottle and should have a hell of a lot more views then this...
Still rocking this in 2019!
In 2021 here
I was stationed in MD in the early 90s and that was just before MR Jones blew big. You could just tell these guys had the juice. Still love them.
I love Metal music today because of this song. I remember listening to it when i was 12 and it was my starting point to go to heavier things that i could never imagine that were so great!
It all starts here...
I used to listen to my local rock station all night praying they'd play this song.
i remember when this music video debuted on MTV i was both shocked & in awe at the same time (August and Everything After is one of the best debuts of the 90’s) Recovering The Satellites is damn near in the league of the freshman album.... Aw, dude! I just thought of Gin Blossom while was reading your comment! Great band also! I can’t understand why this two incredible bands not recognised as they need
Thank you. This guy gets it.
Right on about the Gin Blossoms, one of the best bands of the 90s, i don't think they wrote a bad song
sounds a fresh as it did 19 years ago... a true testament to their writing and talent
grew up to this song and still one of the reasons i love my parents.
the drumming in this song is fantastic
This whole song is fantastic!
That drumming in the chorus and the outro is fantastic!
You Ain't Wrong
Saw them live 6 times....man I miss live music..
Probably their most underrated song...I love the harder tone to this one... Beautiful.
Possibly the best song of these champs
My favourite CCs song. And that is an almost impossible task
Incredible live
Yeah adam she ain't coming back.🙃 Love you!

I'm gone, I'm gone, gotta leave today
I'm gone, I'm gone, I'm gone, I'm gone, I'm gone
I'm gone
Thank you Band Hero for letting me discover this gem
Damn didn't know how good we had it......I remember driving out to a lake, smoking a J with friends and disappearing into an endless summer with rockin jams like this.....and being young, 20s!
This is the first song I ever heard by Counting Crows. Been in a love affair with them ever since!
This song will always take me back to the year I had my heart broken and put the experience behind me by moving 2000 miles from the suburbs of Chicago to Oregon. Best thing I ever did.
THAT is a great first line - "you left me with feathers in my hand" as if he was trying to keep an angel from walking away from him but couldn't.
I'd guess Jennifer Anniston.
I love this song.. never thought about that line relating to the title.
Brings back memories ... my favourite Counting Crows song back then... miss those days when music was awesome
For a proper perspective, listen to this, and then to the acoustic version. Two completely different results, both are incredible. You're welcome.
やっぱり好きだよ。いつもありがとうね
One of the best hard rock songs of the 90s
Que Maestros !! what memories! Long live to Counting Crows!Greetings from Lima Perú !
Just love American music ......and it just doesn't get any better than this baby !!!!!.....superb song great group !!......God bless b kind to each other ❤ love animals ❤ and yourself ❤ 😇😊🥰

One of the catchiest solos ever!!!
I've decided to discover some new bands and Counting Crows is one of the best so far
Amazing lyrics
Fave Counting Crows song by far
Used to jam this song and the rest of the songs of the album on my cd player. Late 90s and early 2000s.
I love counting crows I don't think they've done one song I haven't loved and listened to over and over and over :)
It's remarkable that there are artists like that. I agree.
Absolutely the best song from Counting Crows. never bored listening to this masterpiece.
I LOVE LOVE this song... takes me back to high school...!!
CC showing they can Rock It Up with the best of them! So rare to find a band with such a prolific back catalogue that doesn't have a single 'bad' song amongst it, is able to transcend styles & genres with apparent ease & can pull it all off live!
This entire album gets me so inspired even with something simple. I put this on when I want to get in my zone. IDK WHY, just love it.
Exellent song, one of my favorites even the so good guitar solo amazing groove there... fabulous!!!
I think this and Einstein on the Beach are the Counting Crows’ best songs! I have been a huge fan from their very first album!
Such an underrated song. This should have been the lead off single from "Recovering the Satellites."
I think it was. and it's not underrated it's great
+Joseph m It's underrated when the local college and indie rock stations only played their songs "Mr. Jones" and "Hanging Around" all the time in the 90's. +Rawk4Life They play "A Long December" on the radio quite a bit.
It was the first song off that album. It came out before Long December
True. I remember hearing this song on the radio for the 1st time. It blew my mind!
Still rocking this in 2021
Probably the best music video. Each shot, one by one combine perfect picture. Don't mention the music which is far beyond being perfect tune.!!! Thanks
It is my favorite song.
I have been listening for over 20 years.
They rock hard here, pull no punches!
Yeah, it was this track that made me rush out and buy the album way back when... on a CASSETTE TAPE lol. Makes me feel old, but in a good way.
Another good Crows tune that shows these guy's rocked the 90s.
Almost forgot about the Crows until the Joe Rogan interview. I loved this album and this is by far my favorite song off that LP.
One of the great songs of the 90s
This song was my high school years. So many memories
Same here mate.
Still one of my favorites. Great writing. Great energy.
This band is Incredible, been a listener since the start!😀😀😀
A little random I know but I don't know who was responsible for the micing, EQ, and just overall production of the percussion of this album, but to me it is still the gold standard of the sound I try to master.
