  • Going into my 5th year with the Kutana Storm Shell jacket and it's still performing great! I use it in all four seasons and will often use it as my outer shell during hunting season whether it's raining, snowing, or the sun is shining - you know you'll always be prepared for whatever mother nature sends at you!

Thanks for posting. Five years, nice long term review! I live in VT, plan to do some pursuit hunts next fall. This model may be my shell. Seems it has a bit more abrasion resistance than Chugach, while a half pound lighter than Yukon. Have you needed to re-apply DWR? Again, review much appreciated. Oh, you got this several years ago, do you know if they were using the general "Entrant membrane" from Toray then, or was it Dermizax? Seems now Chugach uses Dermizax (along with Yukon) but not Kutana. Maybe no big diff... Good luck this season!

I'm 99% sure it uses the exact same waterproof technology as today, I don't think they changed that. BTW, the tech they used in the Yukon back when I tested it was terrible, if you got the inside wet it took forever to dry out. Not so with the Kutana, totally different. I've washed it a few times using a down wash type detergent but have never had to reapply the DWR.
