Recuerdo cuando años lejanos viajaba por la cordillera de Nahuelbuta y eran tan altos los arboles que formaban verdaderos tuneles por encima de la carretera al entrelazarse entre si...y en medio de ese verde salvaje escuchando a los PSB....
Just bought the poor mans version of the E-MU Emulator II - via a vst from Arturia. I did look on Ebay but crickey thats way out of my price. I wanted one ever since Ferris Bueller's Day off. Watched all your vids learnt a lot. Big fan of Tangerine dream, kraftwerk, erasure, sputnik etc, would luv to see your creativity on that ther E-MU II. Thanks for sharing and bringing back fond memories
Big respect and many thanks to you for this instrumental, I already thought nothing adequate for this song would appear anymore... Honor and praise to you Mister!!!
Arturia ma takie vst i można sobie kupić 21 maszyn, albo syntronic, też mają takie Vst,to się nazywają syntezatory programowe,ja mam Arturię,bajka, pozdrawiam 💪
These videos are just crazy good. Your West End Girls cover is slightly better than the original. Is this a wind up! Are you Chris Lowe? Who else would have this gear and these skills. Just amazing work :)
I have something on the blocks that is predominantly Fairlight - the clue's in the video description above :-) I'm not sure there's much Fairlight in 'Do I have to'. I looked at this track a few years back and seem to remember that the rhythm track is TR-707 / TR-727 (with possibly the EII for the congas) and that the pads / other backings were a combination of EII (Marcato Strings) and Roland-type synths. I did give it a go and still have the recording, so maybe I'll upload that too if I can find time to make a video.
Incredible work and such a wonderful version. Interested to know what converters you are using to record. Looking at 2:00 in the video I'll take a guess at Digidesign 888 or UAD Apollo? Thanks
That's a great set-up with or without a Fairlight! Mines an OB-8 btw, not an Xa, albeit it has the 'Xa' mod applied to the output section, which makes it sound a lot closer to an Xa is the lower registers. Very happy with that mod.
Awesome work, you must spent a big amount for some gear like the Linndrum...I would love to hear a cover from you on the Berlin 'take my breath away' for the bass you would need a DX7 'bass 2' not sure about the snare though or the voices pad where they come from, cheers !
Thanks. I was fortunate enough to buy nearly all my gear in the 90's and early 00's when it was worth a fraction of what it is now. Personally, I cannot believe the prices people are asking for things such as the Linndrum. Nice as it is, it's simply not worth the 3-5k that people are asking for these days. Same goes for the LM-1 which has now reached stupid prices. Re TMBA, I've tried this in the past and got fairly close (the main elements of the Linn / DX bass / EII Marcato String pad being fairly spot on) but I've never been happy with the voicing ('voices pad' and bells) in the chorus, which to me is what really gives that song its emotional depth. I'd love to know which sounds they (Arthur Barrow?) used. I'm inclined to think it would be the a combination of the EII and DX-7, given the Marcato Stings being used for the main pad and DX for the bass but I've not been able to find / create any sounds that I'm happy with.
@@EstuaryMists I love your approach to try to make it as close as possible to the original, is there a way to contact you ? Id like to make a cover and Id like to hire you experience.
Whilst they had a fair amount of equipment (Chris Lowe certainly had his own Series III around 1989 / 1990), they worked with a lot of people that brought their own hardware. For example, Steven Hague, JJ Jeczalik, Andy Richards and Blue Weaver from the Please / Actually era and Harold Faltemeyer for the Behaviour albums. All these people had substantial (and expensive) rigs.
I think they wanted to work with Faltermeyer especially to get their hands on his vintage synths. And not just any old vintage synths - these were the keyboards used on Blondie’s Call Me, Donna Summer’s Our Love and Moroder’s E=MC2!
No. You don't have a Fairlight, do you? You can't possibly have a Fairlight? I feel ashamed with my equipment which consists of nowaday version of old gear like my Jupiter-X. Oh, and my Simmons Drum Set, the only original vintage equipment I own.
@@EstuaryMists I am not actually ashamed. I only wanted to express my enviness. ;) And as a kind of gearhead I get a sparkle in my eyes, when I see this stuff which I so desperately wanted to own in my youth. Oh, and I forgot to bow to your excellent rendition of this classic. :)
Behavior is the pinnacle of PSB … perfect blend of speed and melancholy
This must be the gear I cannot afford in years
Polecam Arturia
Vst do DAW
😅
😂😂😂 Amazing reply so funny 😂😂😂
This must be the cover I’ve waited to hear.
And how.
Such an under-appreciated album.
Amazing! I'm a big fan of Petshop boys. I tried doing Suburbia and Go west using Korg Triton vst. Love 80s Music 🎵🎶
Omg! That was jaw dropping. Emulator 2 , incredible.
That reminded me of Depeche Mode live shows in the mid 80s !!!
wow.. this is very very nice! One of favorite PSB tracks

Good to see you back in action (a typically spot on cover) and also dusting the Fairlight (not a mark on it!).
Thanks. I'm glad you noticed that I'd given the Fairlight a dusting down before filming! Shame I forgot the knobs on the PrimeTime and SDD-3k!
Qué maravilla, qué lujo de cover. Delicioso.
excellent cover 😃
Seria interesante que usaras la voz de Neil para tus covers. Excelente trabajo 👌👍

Thanks John. I can assure you I'm not; just been doing this for a long, long time!
Spot on
This is brilliant. Smooth and powerful. Love the full orchestration. Deep epic music 🙏
Thanks Dermott. Glad you think I've achieved those qualities, as that was my intention.

Fantastic, great job!

I would love it if you did something that is all Fairlight like maybe the b side 'Do I have to?'

Where’s the top guitar note with the pitch bend?
Yes where is that... That's a defining note of this song
Amazing! ❤

Aí que saudade quando eu tinha 18 anos .mas a AIDS tava amedrontando a todos nos....naquele tempo😢😢😢😢

Considering the cost of these synths back in the day makes me wonder how the Pet Shop Boys could afford to buy them.
Simple. They rented them.
Whilst they had a fair amount of equipment (Chris Lowe certainly had his own Series III around 1989 / 1990), they worked with a lot of people that brought their own hardware. No vocoder "Everybody"? 😜
Hi sir ,can I order a instrumental from you ,I don t care the price. Thanks
Everybody, e-e-everybody
Im pretty sure this cover version is in the wrong key and the solo vocal sound is way too loud in the mix but still an excellent version
What DAW is this?
Cubase Pro 11
You're definitely Chris Lowe. Your hands and your gangster hoodie look like this. 😬

Ashamed of the Roland Jupiter X? That’s one of Roland’s flagship synths, my friend!
This man is Chris Lowe😂😂😂😂
