She's young and beautiful. People forget that the movie camera adds years to people so when you see them in real life its a shock how truly beautiful they really are.
Money, plastic surgery and cosmetology, and good makeup is the secret. If you look closely at her other photographic photos over the past year, you will see that she is old. There are actresses who are older than her but look better, for example, Elizabeth Hurley.
*Picard wakes up on his patio; the sun just about to dip below the horizon. Looking around, he realizes he is not alone. "Q! What do you want now?" "I told you it wasn't over, Picard. Humanity is still on trial."
The Borg and Q are the two elements of TNG that Picard has the strongest personal connection to. While I would love to see de Lancie again, I don't think a "Q" plot could be a stable foundation for an entire series. An episode, or a feature film, sure, but not an ongoing story arc. Q by definition is a pop-in-pop-out character.
I have unexpected additional respect and affection for Jonathan Frakes after “But they didn’t have the guts to have a man in that part!”. Clearly something he cares a great deal about.
When I think of actors like Del Arco coming back after a two-shot stint in a TV drama after over a decade, it makes me realize just how weird acting is as a job, especially in genre TV. You can take a one- or two-shot role, and damn but it can turn into a steady gig for you 20 years later.
No way they would even jokingly give that one away. My prediction: Frakes is Q. He got tired of Starfleet pestering him to take Command of a flagship so he said screw it and rejoined the Q.
Glad to see Jeri also having difficulties accepting this new style they wrote into Seven, not to be as formal as she was anymore, speaking so freely "What the hell are you doing Picard?" So not Seven! Glad she could cope with that even when she also did not like that. 15:00 onwards she explains it and I can go with that. I do not like the way the rewrote Seven. It might be the way the writers speak in their lives but not Seven. "I really can't see her in these lines" - Jeri Ryan, 2019. Great! Speaking my mind. :)
She's crammed full of nano-bots, darn it. They work overtime replacing stuff and tightening things... Borg, I believe. Whatever. Age is something that happens to other people. Like me, for instance. Jeri Ryan (almost gave a spoiler) - I get the impression that the Borg have been totally wiped out by an unknown force and she has to "sound" and act more human to hide her former identity. That's how I read this!
It's been weakened over the past few decades, first by Hugh and his rogue faction, then Unimatrix Zero, then when Admiral Janeway destroyed the Borg Queen in the last episode of Voyager.
@15:50 I agree 100%, it is definitely a very different voice. That's highly understandable why she would be freaking out, most Trek characters you just go back right into it. Checkov talks like Chekov's voice, Riker talks like Riker's voice, etc etc, but Seven she doesn't talk the way she normally talks anymore. Aside from Jeri freaking out, I'm very dismayed by it. Gotta say I don't care for it, but Jeri Ryan is still very talented
agreed with most of your opinions, especially about discovery (bleah!). i didn't agree that trek has to be about a federation crew. i like that picard is operating outside the federation, we get to see how the ordinary person of the 24th century views the federation and what they're doing regarding the other powers in the alpha quadrant. there was talk about a series years ago that would center on a klingon crew and i thought that sounded great. even better, a romulan crew! we could see how all the upheavals affected some ordinary romulans and how they dealt with the destruction of their empire. or the cardassians rebuilding their homeworld after the dominion conquest. trek doesn't always have to be about humans, there are so many amazing races fleshed out over the years i'd like to see trek shows get away from the same old federation/starfleet stories and explore the rest of the alpha quadrant more. i don't mind dark trek, wrath of khan and search for spock are some of the darkest trek and i loved them, they're my faves! one last thing, from the trailer it looked like riker and troi are living together, if not married and troi mentioned a son, so i'm pretty sure they're together. yeah, worf in that new, weird klingon make up would suck. patrick stewart is great and i have faith he'll be able to preserve the old feeling of trek in the new show. guess we'll find out soon.
The fact they praised discovery at all makes me cringe. It doesn’t bode well for the future of Star Trek. I worry that it will destroy what could otherwise be the return of an amazing Star Trek franchise.

Jarsia That was kinda funny...but as someone who never cared whether or not Hugh or the actor playing Hugh were gay, I could’ve done without the dozen mentions of gayness. I don’t care who’s gay; that’s not interesting!
@@joshuacalkins I don't care either, but he was relating a personal story about how the fandom helped him with his personal struggles and showing gratitude. In that way I don't feel it was out of place. Wilson Cruz randomly blurting out which characters he had the hots for just seemed like putting his sexuality on display for no real reason.
@@joshuacalkins Even in the doctors panel when he's going on about diversity and feminism being the driving themes of discovery. Egalitarianism is all well and good, but when it's paraded and preached at the audience, it gets old fast. Older star trek series didn't have some sense of moral superiority about diversity, they just did it and didn't make a big deal of it, because it shouldnt be. Discovery beats you over the head with it and forgets to actually tell a story half the time. Neither Del Arco or Cruz are afraid to say they're gay, but I'd rather have a beer with Del Arco simply because there actually seems to be more to him as a person than his sexual orientation.
Jarsia Yes, from what little I’ve seen of Del Arco out of makeup, he seems like a likable guy. I hope he’s great in the show, but I am deeply concerned about all aspects of STP. The original show wasn’t just praised for being diverse, it was praised for being a fantastic show which, as you say, had inherent diversity. It was a strength back then, so it’s sad to see it standing in for quality on STD. I will be watching a terrible episode, and there are gay guys and literally dozens of female technicians milling about the hallway, ...and it’s still a terrible episode. Quality first! Stop obliging me to like a show for social points, and just make an amazing show! Too much to ask of that team, apparently. Cheers.
I'm glad the other two don't seem to absolutely hate their old characters as much as Stewart apparently hates Jean Luc Picard. What an absolute shredding of his legacy the show "Picard" was... I went into it with incredibly high hopes and wasn't just disappointed, but pretty much insulted as well. Yes we waited 20 years for it. For one of the heroes of our childhoods to come back and provide a proper ending to his legacy. A character that was an inspiration to some, a father figure to others. And they SHIT all over him. He was presented as this doddering old fool, the character was shit on, his career was shit on, his accomplishments, everything he stood for. It was like "yeah fuck your hero". I'm honestly surprised they didn't have him poop his pants. The fact that Stewart seems to really enjoy this aspect of the project, really says it all. I was under the impression he enjoyed playing Picard back in the day. It would be interesting to hear why this seems to have changed so much.
